Can someone provide a little more clarification on which Metzler's area chunking? I have heard that it is only the ones being manufactured in Brazil or Mexico that have the problems and the German ones are fine...........Is this correct? I just replaced a German 880 with another German 880 and have been extremely happy with their performance. I just got almost 15k out of the last one. I was going to try the Avon this time, but couldn't get my hands on 1 quick enough (long story).

That loks like the model thatI got. It works pretty good, but it did screw me up in Canada a little bit. I got mine as a refurb from radioshack.com for about the same price. overall it is a good unit, but doesn't have some of the fancier features (they cost more $$$ and I'm cheap so it works well).

I am down outside of Richmond, but often ride your way. Put together the M&E a I'll try to make it.......................work permitting. I have a cousin who lives in Falmouth and works at Dahlgreen. How about an Ice cream M&E next Friday night??????????

I live just outside of Richmond, so give me a buzz when your trip gets closer and we can meet up for dinner and maybe I'll tag along for your BRP ride. BTW, what is the conference that you'll be in town for? -
Sorry, I was actually planning on giving you a call and seeing if you wanted to get some ice cream, but my daughter had other plans. Once we got to our cousins house, she was playing with her cousin and that was it. She was not about to go anywhere while after we got to their house. I'll probably do a similar ride this fall and will let you know so we can meet up.

Baxter will start having competition for the local rides, but he is still king of the long rides for a while. I am hoping that Beer30 will make her some matching chaps and a vest like he did for Mufinman soon:fingers-crossed-emo Wouldn't that be a picture, her and Jeff with matching outfits:rotfl:

Have a safe ride, one day I will make it out to Sturgis:fingers-crossed-emo

I have tried downloading both the tools listed in this forum and can't seem to get it. I start the download and get the box to choose a place to save it, it appears to save fine............... and then NOTHING. I can't find the file where I saved it (on the desktop).. I tried searching the whole PC for it and its nowhere to be found. Any ideas on what my problem is?? (Also, I tried the Run option and that did not work either.) -
sewing machine, extra material and restless nights = new bike cover

Let me put my name in 1st for a 2nd Gen variety if you make them. It looks really good. -
I think that the #xx255, is the one that I used. The instructions in the box said nothing about motorcycles, but I can tell you that it works great. I had much better luck with this unit than the modulite.

I found some great roads this past weekend so we'll have to hook up and take the girls on ride this fall.

VA law says that the passenger has to have a place to put their feet, so since she can't reach the boards she using the top of the saddlebag. I got some nonslip cabinet liners and cut them down to put on top of the saddlebag lid so her feet don't slip and it also protects the paint. I am looking into a way of mounting some highway pegs to the front saddlebag crash bar so she can have an actual footpeg and I could also use them as highway pegs for my son. If I ever get it worked out I'll post it up.

Well that's a mighty good idea, but I think it will be Baxter for at least the next year or 2....unless of course I can get my wife to come:confused24: The kids keep trying to talk me into getting a sidecar..................I really don't want to, but I may not have a choice here soon. Unfortunately I have to work that weekend and won't be able to make it down to Asheville, but depending on your plans we can meet up for lunch on your trip down or back.

Thanks, luckily she takes after her mother:rotf: Scary enough, she can keep up with her brother pretty well. Guess that means another off duty job is in my future. They are armrest, they are from Diamond R. I actually got them from another member who no longer needed them. I am not sure if they are still making the eagle variety, but I know they have the regular ones. The sheepskin does help, I got mine while in Kitchener and have used it ever since. Seems to really help with the 'monkey butt'.

Go to Pep boys or Advance auto and get a generic Hoppy unit. I don't know the exact part # (someone will chime in with it), but you want the unit that has a direct battery feed and isolates that trailer wiring from the bike. It is pretty easy to install. I tried the modulite 1st and got a bad unit, several others seem to have had the same luck with the modulite.

Well, I took my 4 (almost 5) year old daughter on her 1st road trip this weekend. When I returned from Kitchener (her brother got to go on that trip) she wanted a turn for a road trip on the bike. We traveled 544 miles through the mountains of VA this past weekend including 120 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We had beautiful weather and she did GREAT. It was such a nice ride I will prabably take her again in the fall when the leaves are turning.

our kids go back to school after Labor Day, but I know other areas as close as NC that go back the 2nd and 3rd week of August.

Unfortunately my schedule has changed at work and I won't be able to make the rally, but I would like to order one of those shirts. put me down for 1 2x shirt, let me know what I owe you and you can mail it or I can get it at a M&E in Sept or Oct.

Rick, Glad you guys had a good ride and made it home safe. Baxter had a great time visiting with Courtney and Ty, hopefully everything will work out and they'll be able to catch up again next year.

my first RALLY... Kitchener... thanks to all

This was my 1st VR Int'l rally also and we had a blast. I can't say enough about our hosts and the week that they planned for us. We are already looking forward to next year and will be there 'god willing and the creek don't rise". -
I think that they "2nds" theory is a bunch a bull, they are just trying to scare you into buying the tire from them. I bought my last tire from http://www.motorcycleproshop.com/tires.asp and had great luck. The shipping wasn't free, but since I was only buying 1 tire it was cheaper than southwest moto (a couple of $). I ordered the tire on a Monday night online and got the tire on Thursday.

Get the OXO mug, it works great. It wont spill all over your tank (and you) because of its design. Riderduke turned me onto this mug and it has been great. You can get a stainless version at bed, bath, and beyong for about $20. I got my current one (plastic) at Lowes for $5 and have seen a 2 pack at Walmart fo $10. I use a cruset caddy cup holder that works well, but several people use a bicycle water bottle holder and mount it to the brake master cylinder. I haven't tried this yet, but amd planning on it soon.

Cangrats on the sidecar, can't wait to see it. My kids have been bugging me to get one, but I am fighting it at this point. We'll see though with the way gas prices are going I may consider it soon.

We went through gettysburg last weekend on the way home form the int'l rally. I was wondering why there were so many bikes around:think: We actually lost out on the motel we wanted to stay in because of this rally. We spent the night in Frederick, MD and toyed with the idea of going to the rally on Sunday, but we were anxious to get home.
