Thanks, I'll use it next weekend at the SC M&E. I will print some extra copies in case some of other members have missed this thread. These days every dollar counts.

Source for PCW clutch kit
nkbjones replied to OutKast's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Bubba, Call PCW tomorrow and you'll have the kit by Wednesday probably, they are great folks to work with. As David mentioned in the other thread, you can come to the SC M&E this weekend and we would be happy to help you put it in. It will take less than an hour. -
I have several things I would like to do, but not necessarily in this order of importance: 1. New spark plugs 2. colortune 3. If I can scrape the $ together, v-max gear swap (this is gonna be a big if) 4. now that I know about the option of tire changing, new rear tire. 5. ignition by-pass 6. driving/spot/passing lights (not the factory accessory, but 1 of the more creative and less expensive options that other members have done) This is a dream list and I realize that they all won't get done.

When I got back into riding 4 years ago I knew I wanted a bagger, but also knew that I wasn't ready for one after not riding for 14 years. I had seen the venture at the local dealer when I was shopping for a bike and liked it a lot. I ended up getting a v-star 1100 (which I loved) and had that for about a year and a 1/2. While I had the v-star I spent time searching about touring bikes and pretty much decided that I wanted a RSV. Then, I went to Daytona bike week in 2007 and had a chance to test ride a RSV. After that demo ride, I KNEW that I had to have one. Fast forward to then end of April 2007.........my wife and I are getting ready to go to Outer Banks bike week when my v-star will not start. We have the bike packed and we have our rain suits on ready to go and the starter clutch goes bad. Well needless to say I was kind of teed off. I got the bike to a shop and faced the sad news that I would be without my bike for a couple of weeks while they ordered and then waited for the part. Well, my wonderful wife suggested that we go look at motorcyles since we couldn't go away for the weekend. I found a good deal on a new RSV at a dealer and my wife was not opposed to the idea of buying it. I then called another dealer in the area and they had a used 2007 RSV with 1200 miles on it. They told me it was only $500 cheaper than a brand new one. I haggled with the salesman over the phone and got him down another $1000. I told him I would be there in 1/2 hour to check it out. When I get there I see that it already has $1000 worth of 'must have' accessories. Then the best part....................................my wife tells me to buy the bike. So I did and we rode off to bike week for the weekend, 10 hours late but still get to go.

Good luck with the insurance Co. I would have called the police anyway, but depending on the laws in your state it may not have done any good depending on the $ amount of damage on private property. I would take your old broken fridge and park it in her spot, maybe she'll knock that over next time:think:

Since you already have a 2nd, I'll 3rd the motion. This was a dirty, though effective trick on us all. Good luck selling that domain especially with HD looking for a bailout:fingers-crossed-emo We still love you anyway Don:bighug:, but we are gonna be thinking about payback for maintenance day, be forewarned.

Thanks, I was thinking that it shouldn't be a real problem, but just wanted to make sure. I have yet to hit the rev limiter in 3rd as I hit it at 70 in 2nd, not sure where I would hit in 3rd but know it is past 80.

Thanks guys, I also checked the owners manual and it says that it may flicker during hard accelerations. Just wanted to make sure. That's no fun

I have noticed in the last week that my low oil pressure warning light is coming on from time to time. So far it only comes on when I approach the rev limiter in 2nd gear, it doesn't come on at high RPM's in 1st or 3rd gear. I have checked the oil and it was just below 1/2 in the sight glass, so I added enough oil to bring it to exactly 1/2. I went for a ride and it is still coming on at high RPM's in 2nd gear. Any ideas on why the light is coming on or if I should be worried by this?

Think I need some clutch help............
nkbjones replied to nkbjones's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Ditto, I did the PCW upgrade after I started this post (with Riderduke's help) and all is good now, definitely a stronger clutch. -

I am glad to hear that you are going to keep your scoot for now. While my job is not in jeopardy, I fear that my wife's is (despite her insistence that she is too valuable to be let go). Things are tight for us also and I certainly understand where your coming from. Food for thought..................although gas prices have come down temporarily, I found that my RSV just about pays for itself when we had $3 - $4/ gallon gas. I have a truck that gets 13 mpg and my RSV averages about 40mpg. I ride my bike to work almost everyday and use it for most of my errands (as long as I don't have both kids with me), so with the higher gas prices I pretty much break even. If my truck wasn't paid for, I'd get rid of it before I sold my scoot (might still depending on how the next year goes). Good luck and realize that you are not alone.

Jefferson was a very wise man, wasn't he:thumbsup:

Sorry, they are so similar that I though it was you who had changed your name. Guess I failed that quiz:confused24: How about Grumpy Varinian? Just doesn't roll off the tongue does it? I like that, and the attached picture would make a nice airbrush on the fairing or trunk.
-
I am impressd Mini, that was rather nice:clap2:But this rumor about you as a troublemake, I just don't know where that comes from:confused24: I am starting to see a trend here............the only problem with this is my daughter who has started riding also would not hear of this. She would not be happy if I included her brother and not her. This Grumpy Neckbones thing is starting to grow on me................
-
You guys should really talk to my wife and mother:bang head:...........they will tell you the you the truth about my winning disposition, you guys get to see the good side. Truth be told while I am 'grumpy' at times, Grumpy happens to be my favorite Disney character and is my chosen trunk mascot.

I forgot about that Rocket, maybe I should go with Grumpy Neckbones.....................What do you think Yama Mama:whistling:

I have been thinking of following the lead of Sledgehammer, Shot, Cerviperus, and others and changing my 'handle' or screen name. Like many others I simply used a screen name that I used in other areas because I was not sure about what I would find when I joined this club. Well, I have been around for a year and a half and don't plan on going anywhere since I have found this great family. I am thinking of changing it to something more in line with my personality GRUMPY , but that name is already taken by another member. So I need some help from you now in helping me to pick a good new potential name, some of my ideas (and my kids) are as follows: Grumpydad GrumpyNate Grumpy1 Tell me what you think of these names and feel free to add any suggestions that you may have (for those of you that know me.............try to take it easy on me:whistling:)

Many thanks to all of you for all of your hard work to make this rally a success, I know that Baxter will have a blast even if there were no 'kids' activities. I must say though that it is great that you are taking the time to plan some special activities for them. Let me know however I can help. I have not registered yet (post Christmas $, or lack there of), but when I do I will add to the donation pot for the kids raffle.

The vast majority of problems came from the 2nd bike week (even a couple of murders this year), not the 'Harley week'. Were there problems during the 1st bike week?.............of course there were, anytime you get a couple of hundred thousand people together there are going to be some problems, but from my experience most everyone was on 'good' behavior and the problems were minimal. What this really boils down to is MB's lack of political courage to deal with the real issue which is the 2nd bike week. In our social and political climate they would be tagged racists and the sad thing is too many would buy into that nonsense. The Mayor and City Council in MB will have problems once they fully realize the economic impact of canceling bike week.

This just solidifies my decision to say @#^@#%@%$& Myrtle Beach. I had heard this was coming and knew that they had become motorcycle UNfriendly the last several years, but this really takes the cake. I will not return to Myrtle Beach for the non existent bike week nor any other activity. I will gladly take my money and spend it elsewhere. Thanks for the link, I will be passing it on the Blue Knights and as many other groups as I can to spread the word that we need to take our money elswhere.

I have a friend who lives in Virginia Beach and he is having problems with his scoot and needs some help. He has a 1980 Honda CB 750 that sat for about 18 months. All things considered he says the bike runs well, with 1 exception.................when he has the bike running it will not idle properly. He can't get the idle adjusted DOWN to the right rpm's. He said that he has tried adjusting the idle screw, and even accidentally backed it off so much the screw came out (evidently a real pain to put back in), and this does not effect the idle speed. He has contacted both Honda dealers in the area and they won't touch the bike because of the the year. Any suggestions on how to fix the idle or a good shop that he can take his bike too to look at the problem?
