  1. It's Respect Skid. Yammer Dan said if I want a crack at sugar I had to get at the end of the line. Shaddy Lady is next up.
  2. Have you ever been out riding and rode through one of those cool moist shady spots. You can instantly feel the temp drop 15 - 20 degrees and it feels so refreshing on a hot day. Thats the way it is at our camp. I sat in the front yard beside the porch and watched the Sun rise at 4:00 pm. The trees across the road cause an early sunset at around 7:30. I'm re thinking my plan to cut some of those shade trees before replacing the old house. I worked outside on the scoot all day in the shade very nice.We have moss growing all around the house instead of grass. I can't take the heat so this is a needed change. The evening sun turns our house into a bake oven in the afternoons. I guess you will find me at the camp.:cool10: MamaMo says she gets cold easy. Funny thing she came in Sunday evening laid down and sleep for 12 hours.:rotf:
  3. Aired up the tire again it seems to be holding. I took a 50 mile ride and so far so good. The brake caliber is cooling down so that problem fixed it self. I did notice the ride seems stiffer then I remember. I wonder if there is any fluid left in those forks. I aired up the front to 10 lb to see if the forks would hold air. When I done the progressive spring upgrade I used way to light weight of fork oil. The scoot started leaking again shortly after. Thats been about two years ago. Getting ready for that beach trip in two weeks.I'll check that front tire air pressure before every ride to see if I still have a problem.I want to put some miles on the 84 before leaving. Clutch pulling strong. Now where is that Dodge Hemi?
  4. OK I have had a new front tire mounted for 6 months on a spare rim. I aired up both front and rear tires on the 84. I aired up the new tire on the spare rim and changed it out Saturday. I little test ride Sunday seemed OK so now it was time for a test run through the gears to see if everything was OK and that clutch slippage issue was gone. The bike pulled strong through the gears but developed a front end wobble at about 110mph. I brought it back in and noticed the front rotor was hot on the linked brake caliber side. The pads are new and I think some dirt and grime got between the back of the pads and the caliber piston. I was only out for about 50 miles total and this evening I decided to check air pressure again before another ride and the new front tire was down to 10 lb. It dropped about 30 lb from the time I aired it up last thursday. That might explain a little wobble at 110. Now where is that leak I hope it's only a valve core.
  5. Ok I got the 84 out (trailered it to the camp). Yesterday I decided to install the new front tire I had mounted on a spare rim. In the process of cleaning up the front end ( saturated in fork oil ) I decided to remove the front brake pads to clean the brake calibers. At the camp I didn't have the proper needle nose pliers and I managed to break a circle clip the one in the brake pad retaining pin. I assume this has to be in to keep that retaining pin from coming out. Today is Sunday is this a Yamaha only part or can I get lucky at the local ACE hardware. It would be nice to ride today.Dealer not open on Sunday.:confused24:
  6. I got a fair price on a exide at tractor supply. I bought one there a couple summers ago for the vmax. $56.00 plus $10 core charge. I'll take in a trade in for the core fee later.
  7. I picked up a new battery for the 84 this evening on the way home from work. I filled the cells with the supplied acid to the top level mark and started a 2 amp charge with my Black & Decker Smart Charger I bought 3 years ago. After about 1 hour the charger full charge lamp came on. I said no way this should take 12-16 hours so I reset the charger and tried again. After 5 minutes the charger kicked out and showed full again. This time I replaced it with my heavy duty Napa charger and set it for 2 amps automatic. So far its still charging and some time tomorrow I should get a fully charged indication. I noticed over the winter months that Smart Charger would kick out and show a fault indication on a low battery in my scoots. I guess it's cooked.
  8. Insurance, and registration please! Is everything O.K? That will be $12.00. Oh yea nice bike what kind is it?:whistling:
  9. Staying at the camp. Loading up the atv's and the 84. Camp fire, grilling out, eating, riding, and maybe some light projects I have to do. MamaMo just wants a relaxing weekend.:cool10:
  10. We interrupt the normal dreary, wet, cold weekends we had to bring a change. Memorial day weekend is looking like a warm.sunny, beautiful event coming up.:cool10:
  11. Looks like a family reunion. Keep them down there.
  12. Great news and all the best for both of you. Enjoy life while you can.
  13. Your right Redneck. I could cancel that expensive seafood dinner MamaMo looks forward to at the beach and go ahead and ride the 84. Thanks for the advice.:cool10:
  14. Randya your right. Money is tight. The household budget has no room for unexpected extras. Were still waiting to see if out health care insurance premium goes up again this month. In 2 1/2 weeks were taking the family vacation at the beach. I have calculated at current gas prices $400 just to get the pickup and 5 people down there. I would love to ride the 84 down and back but thats an extra $165. Food prices are skyrocketing to so I have to make decisions based on keeping the monthly bills paid. Our county just passed a school bond legislation so next year the property taxes go up again.
  15. I'm glad you found it. Meter movements do need lubed once in a while. I have an 86 waiting for tach repair attention but as usual no time to get into it right now.
  16. Little town just north of where MamaMo works.
  17. Is this a normal LEO practice. I monitor several county sheriff dept and local city pd radio transmissions over our home scanner. One local small town dept is constantly running traffic stops. During the exchange for information with local 911 dispatchers the dispatcher gives the usual name address etc of the driver. Next the officer will ask for and receive over the air the drivers SS#. Identity theft is a major problem and now if you are stopped for a traffic violation your name, address, and SS#are broadcast for all scanner land or monitoring thiefs to hear. This must be a new practice because I don't remember hearing this before until recently.
  18. I can buy a PPV flick for $2.99 at home. It now cost $8.00 just to drive to the gas station and back.
  19. I guess my mounts must be bad from age and not wear. The 84 has 24K and the 89 has 27K.
  20. Ok it looks like a solid motor mount upgrade may fix the wobble problem on the first gens. That the feed back I'm getting from the poll on the subject and other thread research. Is this a Yamaha kit upgrade or an after market product? What about cost for parts? Is this a winter upgrade project or a weekend job? Any Pros and Cons to the upgrade or is everybody happy with the solid motor mounts? I need part #'s.Is the kit the same for an 84 and 89?
  21. Not me but I will be there in 3 weeks.:dancefool:
  22. Ponds are very dangerous. Sometimes your lucky to get out with your life!!! Property well thats another thing. I had ours dozed in about 15 years ago. Why don't you schedule a venture rider fish fry before the heavy equipment moves in.
  23. Hey Jeff give us a report on Ruff's new cell phones. I bet there nice.:rotf:
  24. Holy Cow!!! I been so busy trying to get caught up before leaving on vacation in June that I forgot. Next weekend is memorial day a 3 day weekend. All thats left to do at the camp is hookup a dusk to dawn light, bug light, and get cell phone signal. So next weekend I will be ready for camping big time. I'm talking getting the 84 out, 4 wheelers, fish poles, grilling out big time, and the list goes on. It has rained almost every week or weekend since spring and I'm ready to get out. So whats your plans????? Oh yea gasoline is 3.99 gal now. It should be over $4.00 before next weekend. Our local Motorcycle dealers are seeing a record month for sales in May.
  25. Warden said you could have a new one right?
