  1. My plug wires have arced through to the frame before on the 84. Check your wires for cracks in the rubber and look for tight spots such as wire ties on the plug wires tight against the frame or other metal. The pickup coil connector on the lower part of the frame behind your shifter doesn't like water either.
  2. Were under a tornado watch now. There is a storm front still about 100 miles out but were getting some rain and wind now.
  3. I sawed mine at the weld with a hacksaw and drilled them out. Yea I know one of the holes is not uniform. But hey when I'm cruising nobody notices. The noise is not bad for the rider. I still listen to my am,fm ok.
  4. Our local Yamaha dealer finally got a new venture on the showroom floor. We stopped yesterday and looked it over. It's gray ( not exactly my color ) but a very nice looking scoot. Normally he only stocked the goldwings as he is also a Honda and Suzuki dealer. Nice looking Hyabusa Suzuki setting beside it to. I'm still waiting on the 1800 V4 with FI.No plans for a new scoot until after I pay off some debt.
  5. I'll be ready next weekend. My 16 ft trailer will haul both 4 wheelers and the 84 at the same time. Easy place to load and unload by myself. We have a plan!
  6. Last night we stayed at the camp for the first time. I got the new electric service wired up wednesday. Last evening we temp installed the bare necessities. Satellite TV,Cell phone booster, #@!%# No wifi signal anywhere. MamaMo, venture, and I spent the night while the kids stayed home and had a movie watching party. Alarm clock went off at 6:30am with a Canadian geese fly over. Still no scooter riding for me it's rain, rain, and more high water.:rain2:
  7. I took the 99 out this evening but not by choice. I think I'm loosing my nerve or the memories of going down in that creek won't leave me. I'm going to try the 84 this weekend unless it rains again.:(
  8. I got the service entrance finished Sunday. The Electrical inspector passed the inspection today so hopefully by the weekend the power company will have us hooked up. I hope to get the 84 out and take it to the camp this weekend. Now to install the satellite dish and cell phone antenna. If MamaMo could find that new Hammock she bought I know a couple shade trees needing something to do. I might leave the kids at home and just take MamaMo camping.:whistling: :cool10:
  9. The man who is going to paint MamaMo's 99 took one look at it this evening and said Blue & White. I slipped him a twenty ahhhhhh I mean thanked him for his opinion and left on the scoot. He and MamaMo were standing outside arguing about PINK when I left. Stay tuned for Harley riders knows best or MamaMo gets her way??? I think Blue and White is fine fine fine. Even if it is a REDNECK color.
  10. Prayers have been sent. Get well soon and keep us posted on her progress.
  11. Maybe MamaMo will get me one of these? :cool10: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Why-buy-a-motorcycle-trailer-Buy-a-trailing-system-tow_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6755QQihZ002QQitemZ120244731215QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  12. It is a semi private drive called Horseshoe Falls Lane. My private driveway branches off of it after crossing the creek. There are about 4 or 5 other Landowners but no permanent residents. This is my only way out. Town? What town? The closest town is 12 miles away. Out here neighbors live 1/2 mile apart. No way to use foot bridge with scoot or bicycle for that matter. The exit path on the road side is a 30 degree hill for 20 ft and only 1 ft wide.:no-no-no:
  13. I know how slippery the bottom of the creeks can be but the best way I found is to ride it like a dirt bike, stand on the pegs and go through as fast as you safely can. Not easy or fun on a #900 bike but do able. Rod I tried that the night MamaMo got re- babtized!:rotf:
  14. A bridge is not possible or financially feasible for me. There are no other residents on this side of the water but my family. All the other land owners are occasional campers. Three or Four times a year we get a heavy rain or flash flood. That puts 6 ft of swift muddy water going down the creek. About every 10 years I loose my foot bridge above the drive crossing. It's 8 ft above the water. With occasional log trucks crossing the creek cutting timber up the hollow a bridge would have to be high and a heavy load capacity. The hollow behind my house goes for 2 miles. The well tenders and timber people often bring heavy equipment across the creek so no bridge would hold that much weight. If it was a private drive I could put in a bridge for just the pickup crossing.
  15. I knew is was in trouble when I went out this morning. I slid the front end of the 89 crossing the creek. Leaving the house going out is the easiest way because the bike is squared up going out. Crossing coming back is a slight down hill right turn then square up when your in the creek if your lucky. Last year I dropped the 89 with MamaMo on it coming back from Freebirds maint day event. This was the first ride of the year on the 89 so I chanced it. I had a nice ride but crossing back to the house I lost control of the front end before I could get the bike squared up. I had to put the feet down in the water to balance the bike and there I was. Stopped in the middle of the creek with water over both boots. The creek is so slick I'm sliding my feet on the glassy algie covered rock surface just setting still. Let the clutch out to ease across the creek dragging my feet and the scoot won't move. The rear tires is spinning just setting still. At a moment like this you ask your self what would a more experienced rider like Muffinman,Skid, or Yammer Dan do? Probably the same thing dad and my brother is doing (watching laughing there a## off). After about 5 minutes of inching the scoot forward trying to keep it balanced I made it out without dropping it. Tune in next week when Froggy's new camp gets a 60 inch wide side door. I'm tired of this #@*^.
  16. I pay $173 a year for liability on all three scoots. About $6.00 a month per scoot. My auto and motorcycle insurance is through GMAC. They saved me $600 a year on auto over Nationwide. I was a 30 year customer of Nationwides.
  17. WOW thats a good looking ride. OH and the scoot looks good to.Wildhair is that what you been chasing logging all those highway miles.:rotf:
  18. I thought that might raise an eyebrow with the ladies her. As far as I know NO she does not ride. He took one of those stress relieving rides as things had not gone well on the job that morning. Nothing like a little riding therapy to clear your head.:whistling:
  19. Steal of a deal for the sportsman. Who needs skeet shooting. The dismal swamp offers some of the finest mosquito shooting north of the bayou. A hurricane up the pamlico could put it under 15 ft of surge but hey everything needs a cleaning once in a while.Offer him 6 mil he might take it.
  20. Yesterday my boss dropped his beautiful Harley in a accident. He was following a bread truck and his view was blocked to the events unfolding in front of the truck. A vehicle stopped suddenly causing the bread truck behind it to lock up all 6 wheels in a skid. My boss dropped his Harley trying to avoid hitting the bread truck. He walked away from it with only scratches and bruises but his Harley is a mess. His wife trying to make him feel better said it's only a bike I'll buy you a new one. He said no it's more then a bike. This was my FRIEND.It's more then a machine. It has a soul. Women just don't understand.
  21. Give it a beer or vodka. Kill Weeds Put about 30ml of vodka, a cup of plain water and a few drops of liquid dish soap and mix the solution together. Put the solution into a spray bottle. Just spray onto the weeds in your garden or yard when there is sunlight. This is important so that the solution can react in the heat of the sun to kill off the weeds.
  22. So how often do you change your battery. I got over three years out of my 84 battery. I'm going to pull it out and charge it and see what it does for holding a charge. I should have charged it this winter but didn't and now it has drained to the point of my small automatic charger won't revive it.So if I can get 3+ years out of a $50 battery will a $125 Odyssey last for 7 or 8 years? I don't mind changing it every 3 or 4 years so I might shop around checking local prices. If I can find a good battery with at least 350 CCA for a deal I might try it.
  23. I got a few neighbors that might take it. During a recession some people will smoke anything. Should be some across the counter weed killer for that. Check at a Lowes store for some and how to apply. :080402gudl_prv:
  24. I expect one of those delivered to Hatteras Island the week of June 7th-14th.Same house next to the DQ.:whistling:
  25. Frog burglar done struck once down there. Trashed the basement, broke the flower pots, scared off the baby sitter. I don't want to push my luck. Skid's got an attack cat now and the pear bandit is still on the loose.:whistling: $15 dollars in gas just to cage it down and back to ride the scoot.
