  1. I counted 33 bikes and 45 people at the Asheville supper run this evening. What a good meal and great time. A special thanks to 1 rooster for the get together. He got a suprise of his own.
  2. Vacation time for many of us is our only time to ride. I only log about 5K per year among 3 scoots. I appreciate those who get 50K plus and have the experience to share needed repairs. It's a joy to work on these old bikes and keep them running.Glad to see others sharing the WV chapter motto. NO VENTURE RIDER LEFT BEHIND. P/S It's good to see Yammer Dan back on a FAST First Gen.
  3. The gift that keeps on giving. We left WV on Monday riding the 89 towing our trailer. The first fuel stop was 120 miles down the road. I noticed some clutch problems only half a lever of clutch and not completly disengaging when stopping. By the time we got into Tennessee the heat index was 100 and the fan was running continously as the temp guage stayed just below the red. Getting off at the pigeon forge exit I totally lost the clutch lever ( no pressure as I squeezed it). MamaMo enjoyed coming to a stop at the exit using the kill switch. We managed to get into the visitors center and let the bike cool down for 30 minutes until I got some lever back. We made it to our rental in Sevierville and I called Jeff. I told him I had some discoloration in the clutch site glass. He said he had seen a hose problem do that same thing and he would bring one to Asheville. We could change and flush it there. We rode around Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg the next day shopping and I was good for about 5 mile or 10 stoplights before problems. I picked up some brake fluid and decided to flush it myself. Thats when I noticed my smallest wrench a 8mm was to big for the bleeder. I called jeff who was now at Asheville and he offered to ride the 90 miles bring the hose and fix it. He made it by 8:45 pm we change hose and flushed the system. Jeff rode back to Asheville that night. The next morning we pulled MamaMo and the trailer up over the smokeys 6000 ft elevation and down to Cherokee,Maggie Valley, and on in to Asheville. The clutch worked like new. At the campground Jeff was non stop tweaking and fixing first gens. I noticed some second genners waiting for a touch from the venture doctor. Many thanks to a guy that keeps on giving.
  4. Dan here is what the web site says. Asheville East KOA 2708 Highway 70 East Swannanoa, NC 28778
  5. I'll think about it. Yammer Dan is getting close to having 1 or 2 of his ventures running. We might make it.
  6. Hey Dan I think ADC,Mini, and Muffinman will be there on Tuesday. Arthur needs help drinking coffee.
  7. Iron butt ride? Lowell iron butt is your middle name.See ya in Asheville.
  8. Whats wrong with your bike? You said in another thread you were waiting on parts?
  9. Wd-40 works great. Just had to let it set for about 30 seconds. Thanks.
  10. I had a spare windshield in storage for a number of years. It was stored between two pieces of cardboard held together with scotch tape. Is there a easy way to clean the tape off the windshield? A few small strips are being stubborn.
  11. I bet Dan is having a Heineken moment.
  12. One more day at work and I'm off for a week. Things to do at 5:00 pm. Turn pager off, turn cell phone off, send all calls to voice mail. I got a few days to get the 89 ready and were out of here. MamaMo's 99 is still on the lift. To much going on and no time. Plenty of work to do when we get back but not thinking about that right now.
  13. Took another long vacation? I got to get down there and get our 89. Wait maybe he took the 89? Looks like the 89 will be at Asheville. This 99 got some issues and just to much going on to do a rush job on the paint. The painter is leaving on vacation on his Harley anyway.
  14. Crazy man the market is crazy. So what is a low mileage first gen 84 model worth? There is 3 answers to that question. 1. Book value would say around $1200 2. Market value ( what people are paying ) is something else. I watched one sell on Ebay last weekend for $3850.00 and bidders fought over it to the end. 3. Personal value. Maybe your scoot has been a faithful friend and it's current value to you is Priceless. No matter which category your thinking falls under one thing is for sure. There bringing twice the price of just a few years ago.:mo money:
  15. I have read about some success in reintroducing ELK to the Great Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee. So have you ever seen and where is the best locations for viewing them? I'll be browsing around that area before Asheville.
  16. Today on my way to Morgantown I passed a bad motorcycle accident on I79 that backed up traffic for miles. The rider was flown to the hospital with no word on his current condition. He was trying to pass a FedX truck and somehow collided with it. While I was in Morgantown working in the ER I heard another call over the radio about another motorcycle accident. The victim had no feeling in his legs. Thats two the same day. Last weekend a rider was killed when he lost control and hit an embankment. He suffered severe head trauma. This state requires all riders to wear a helmet but reports say he was not wearing one. His wife was injured but survives. RIDE SAFE GUYS. TO MUCH OF THIS GOING ON.
  17. There is an old out house built on top of a hand dug fresh water spring. In the rainy season it has automatic flush. Once in a while the frogs get a mouth full.:rotfl::rotfl:
  18. I found the stake and located the line in question. Compass error is 8 degrees in my area and that checks out to. It looks like I own what I suspected I did. Just making sure before excavating for a new septic system.
  19. I tried to call mfg this evening after work but they close at 4:30. Anybody know of this problem before with receiver stud breaking?
  20. Prayers for the family. I heard today we had two accidents close to here over the weekend.
  21. Great News and your in our prayers.
  22. I been fighting Yellow Jackets. They have built in the wall beside the door way entrance to my camp. Determined not to let me in. Round one I hit them with some foaming spray the other night. I think they enjoyed it. Tonight I tried a different spray and was able to get about 1/2 a can up where I think the nest might be. Both nest I have found this year are above ground. The first one was in the hitch on my fifth wheel camper. So far the score is Yellow Jackets 1 and me nothing. I'll know more tomorrow evening. I might have to level that place a little sooner then expected. I could try the old fish on a string above a pan of dish water but I got a pesky raccoon that upsets all Mamamo's flower pots at night.I plan on camping Friday night got family reunion at the park beside the camp this weekend.
  23. Paul your probably right. I more then likely lost it on one of the short rides this spring. Like maybe two months ago and never missed it. The stress put on the rear suspension when crossing the creek is my most likely cause but It should take it. I'm going to replace the receiver assemblies for both sides.
  24. I started my maint inspection today on the 99. How did I miss this. We removed the voyager kit Friday evening. I noticed today the jam nut, bearing receiver, and bolt assembly that screws into the left side of the axle support mount is broke off and gone. The suspension fork on the voyager side is rusted and the bolt break area axle mount is rusted so it has been missing for a while. Where the #@^! did I loose that at Florida? It was there when I installed the new tire last August. This project is on hold for a while. See the pictures.
  25. Lowell I would love to but I have three problems that need resolved. 1. NO TIME 2. NO MONEY 3. My wife won't keep me so I can retire early and go riding.
