1. For all of you who would like to meet Jonas and Greta please see the thread Jonas and Greta's whereabouts ..I HAVE SCHEDULED A MEET AND EAT IN THEIR HONOR FOR TUESDAY , JUNE 21ST AT 6:30 PM.. AT THE OLD RED MILL INN IN WILLIAMSVILLE NY......... please see other thread for more details.............hope to see you there....
2. ..and it should be called .... Jabs, Digs, and Pokes then, whenever a member does this to another in a thread (as I often do), then it should automatically go into this new Forum. That way, the thread is left clean and specific to the topic and when we wanted to Jab, Dig, or Poke back, we'd just go there! Everyone could then read all the Jabs, Digs, and Pokes without having to weed thru REAL STUFF and vice versa! :cool10: :cool10:
3. I'm thinking pretty hard about putting different handlebars on the RSV, but Venture specific bars are pretty limited in selection. Doesn't some of the bars from Harley's fit our bikes? If so, which models (I think someone mentioned Road Glide in another thread)? Figured since so many more accessories are available for Harleys, it might make bars easier to find if I search for them instead of Venture bars.
4. To all the RSTC riders out there! There has been a couple threads on this forum recently regarding patches for the RSTD's. Well, I've been putting in a few words for the RSTC owers out there as I'm about to become one, owner of a RSTC that is! End result is that Golf&Venture is willing to do up designs for the RSTCs. So far I'm the only one on the thread that "has" a RSTC so I'm the only one asking for a Tour Classic patch. Anyone else interested There are two designs, the STAR patch with ROYAL STAR on top, the Yamaha star in the middle, and for our bikes TOUR CLASSIC underneath. The M/C patch would be basically the same but with a TC between the RS and TC. You can see mock-ups of the RSTD M/C patch and STAR patches on the other thread. We can get the colors we want for the lettering and can also decide on which colors we want for the bike on the M/C patch. Also 4 sizes can be available, basically the same as the Venture patches that are currently being ordered and distributed on the site. ANY TAKERS???? The thread you'll find the mock-ups on is "RSTD possible patch design" . Just join the other thread and let G&V know there's more of us out there that want these!!
5. Folks, last week was very busy for me and I was unable to get online for any extended amount of time. I know that there was a thread deleted and then another thread explaining why that got a bit out of hand also. I'm pretty sure that this one will end up getting deleted also but I feel that I need to respond to some of the remarks made in that thread. It was voted on by the membership in the early days of this club that political discussions have no place here. This has been discussed MANY times over here but in spite of MANY warnings, they still happen from time to time. It's just human nature that something is going to get under your skin and you just can't control the urge to get it off your chest. I understand that but we ask that you PLEASE no post it here. There was also a statement made that there are a lot of political statements made under the disguise of jokes. That is true. I've seen it many times. I've seen such jokes aimed at the left and others aimed at the right. I can usually see the humor in them regardless of which side they are from and we sometimes will let them slide for a day or so in the misguided hope that they will not become political debates. They usually do though and then get deleted. It seems that it is getting harder and harder to tell any joke without offending somebody so maybe I just need to add an "auto-delete" function to the joke area. Seriously, we try to be fair to both sides and I can promise you that there is no preference given to one side or the other. It simply depends upon the responses. If they are blatantly political, they are typically deleted as soon as one of the moderators see them. Now there were also a number of comments about religion and prayer requests. The forum rules clearly state that religious debate is not allowed. That rule will always be upheld but I don't think I can remember it ever being an issue. Apparently though there is some confusion regarding what is religious debate and prayer requests. When I wrote that rule, my definition of debate was that there would be no discussion in regards to "does God exist", "Protestants vs. Catholics vs. Islam, etc." "Baptism by emersion vs. Sprinkling, etc." The Prayer Request are was created for those who DO believe in prayer to request them and to receive them from other members who believe. That is NOT debate. There have been a few people here who have stated that they are Atheists. I have seen no instances where anybody asked them why they did not believe and try to convert them. I have also seen no instances where an atheist tried to convince a believer that there is no god. The members here have been very respectful to one another and that is all that is asked. I did see a couple of posts in this last discussion from one or two people claiming they are "offended" by the prayer requests. I honestly don't understand that. If you don't believe in prayers then simply don't read the requests but why in the world would anybody be offended by it? I'm not going to be offended because you refuse to pray. I just don't get it. Folks, I very seldom draw a line in the sand here because I've always said that this is OUR forum, not MINE but I know that the prayer request area is appreciated by the vast majority of the members here and it is just something that I am not going to change. I don't want to lose a single member here. I know that you can be an atheist and still be a good person of high morals and a willingness to help your fellow members and all are welcome here regardless of their religious beliefs or lack thereof but if you are truly offended by the prayer request area, then I am sorry but it's not going away. Anybody who is offended to the point that they don't feel they can participate here then just send me a PM and I will refund your membership dues. So, like I said, I will likely have to delete this thread later on because I know it is going to turn into yet another debate but there is really nothing to debate here. We have had the discussions, the members have voted in the past, the rules have proven to work fairly well over the past ...what...8 years? This post is primarily for any new members or visitors who may have questions about these policies. Thanks, Don
6. Already have orders for 17 patches. Last order was for 110 patches. They are Iron-on or Sew-on. Sizes are 3 1/2" 5 3/4" 7" 9" The 3/1/2" inch wide is great for a baseball hat size. If you want a very specific width side, they can be accommodiated. Just specify the width in inches. Sample pricing for a 7 inch patch is $10.00 including shipping. Smaller sizes will be a little less. Larger sizes will be a little more. Actual Pricing depends on the qty of orders. I will accept orders for a few more days. PayPal, Money Order or Personal Checks accepted. No Cash please. Place your order on this thread with your mailing address. Those who have previously order on the Thread "Venture Patches Has Arrived" do NOT need to order again. See Sample Attachment.
7. *announcement......If you go to page two of "delay in getting trike" thread- you will see that the "why" thread is now "WOOD" and all variations on that theme.........end of announcement:crackup:
8. Due to very little interest and responses on getting together this year at Asheville for a mini rally or extended meet and eat, I am going to advise the KOA campground that we are not going to have a get together this year. Maybe next year we can see about putting something together and we can see what interest there is then. In my "Let's talk about Asheville" thread, there were over 70 hits and not one single comment. 9. The great folks at our host hotel - the Skyline - have offered to hang our VentureRider banner - welcoming all of us. So the question - do we have one, if so where is it, etc. We would like to get it (if possible) to the hotel by Sat. July 23. The owners at the Skyline are starting to get excited to see us all again, and are being extremly helpful in assisting us while we are there. Look forward to seeing everyone in Cody, if the Skyline fills up - or if you prefer the "larger chain hotels" - be sure to check out the choices on the Cody International page and thread. :fnd_(16): For further information, please refer to this thread: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/sh...ad.php?t=55749
10. I bought my 2004 midnight RSV fall of last year. It's a well maintained stock bike just as it left the factory. I knew it would need accessories, but I got a great deal so that didn’t bother me. I found in a thread on this site that someone referred to MotorSportsSuperCenter.com. So I tried it and what a great deal. I received 26% off my order and was able to combine shipping. The retail of my order was $567.65 and I saved $147.61 WOW. I wish I could thank the person that left this tip but I can’t remember the thread I found it in. Also on their web site, you could go to checkout and see the shipping cost without entering any payment info. The only down side was they wanted the entire order at their building to ship in one box, which is why they could offer a combined shipping rate. It took 11 days after the order was placed for UPS to drop it off at my house. Not a big deal for the cash I saved. I was fortunate to find this, so I hope someone looking for parts/accessories reads this and saves some cash. The accessories I order were all genuine Yamaha. Now I have plenty of "Safety Chrome". The only other thing I want is a wider windshield with a vent. Then bring on the sunshine a warm days.
11. Okay I have a request or 3. 1st and foremost for me. When I do a search or when I post a new topic it gives me a list of threads that have had similar parameters. I love this feature, it is very helpful ..... but..... it only allows me to view one of the listed threads. When I try to go back after reading the thread to view the other threads they are no longer there. Is there a way to make them stay at the bottom of the page so we can peruse all of them before we post? 2nd I see where it was mentioned before but is there a way to make a sticky type date for when each post was made, a time date stamp on each individual post? 3rd. My Valkyrie thread under our user names shows how many threads we have posted or replied to... is there a way to do that too. It is kinda nice to see who has posted . Thanks this is a GREAT SITE you have done a AWESOME job with it and deserve a huge pat on the back...
12. Trying to find Freebirds thread on restricted viewing for non-members. Some of us have expressed interest in meeting up with others for rides to MD's and the International Rally. Would probably be a good idea to make these arrangements in a non public viewing area as I'm not really comfortable broadcasting that I'm going to be away from the homestead especially for a week or more... on all our threads we have our state and town and bike we ride so... it wouldn't be that hard to connect the dots... for an unscrupleous individual... So my question is... is there an thread area, members can view to see another members routes (if they want to list) and willingness to ride in groups? The most logical place would be the calander/ event area but not sure if that would be a lot of work for someone??? I believe Venterous had started a thread with the info that would be needed for these meetups...
13. I just don't get it. Maybe it's an age thing? Maybe someone can explain it to me, without getting into an arguing match. I see thread after thread about how the wind is touching someone, and they want to get it off. Gargantuan windshields, upper deflectors, lower deflectors, side deflectors, leg deflectors...etc... Part of riding a motorcycle is that feeling of freedom, and getting a little wind in your face. Without the wind, it seems like you might as well be in a cage. I don't want a pi$$ing match. I just thought I might be able to discuss this with friends, and maybe understand it a little better, that's all.
14. Support our troops, and don't get this thread deleted, please. Show some respect for these guys.
15. Guest

must see video....

tarnation...and I had a great reply composed to Jay's thread...that I'm sure would have been allowed. Dear Moderator, you could have at least waited until you read my post before the thread disappeared. ...but you made a good call, regardless.
16. I've been enjoying the thread the was just revisited about drilling out the stock RSV mufflers. Got me to thinking about my Road King mufflers and wanting to get them a bit louder. I've read all the threads I can find, but I'm still not getting it for some reason. The thread about the stock mufflers has pics, so I was finally able to get my head around that process. Can anybody offer any visual help with the RK mufflers? I'd like to do mine if I can figure it out.
17. I finally took a day and worked on my prototype white leather tank cover. I did this one with no sew marks using folded edges and 77 contact glue. I did this one with no sewing marks as I wanted to see how a smooth one looked first. Future Options: 1) Sew edges with Black thread 2) Sew with white thread 3) Include some type of pocket for STUFF 4) Sew using some white and black leather. Several others. I might even put white as the side panels on the seats. (or reverse that and sit on white) What do you guys think?:feedback:
18. Well this has been trashed over many times I have a list off seals and O rings but I know there is a thread for all the part numbers for my 1983 Venture second gear as I have a complete Vmax trans to replace the old one .I have had the talk with Rocket but I don't want to bug him as he in the mids of a big move . So, if anyone knows the thread it would be appreciated, Michael R in Calgary. Hay Brian F. your FB is Great!.
19. Well I am positive that my bike will be fully operational shortly. I will tool around here for a bit with it then take a nice long trip. Now being as I have a few variables that I cannot control the date cannot be set yet. But I am planning on making a trip to southern Kentucky around mid summer. A few questions, how do I find and either print or load into my GPS the help/ coffee break list? Do members mind a rider just calling up saying " Hey up for a cup of Joe?" I don't, but I am a little off my rocker. When putting this into my GPS (the tom tom from a previous thread) I found that it will plan from point a to point b but cant program in any stops, but I can deal with that. Am still bringing my atlas anyway. For those that have made longer trips what is most likely (other than the operator) to mess up? Thank You, Shaun
20. Is there any way I can mark a thread so that it doesn't displayed anymore?
21. Well, I went and switched to a GL1800, I've had it about 10 days now. Lower seat and center of gravity, a lot easier for me to handle, especially two-up. Maybe more about that later. Now to the subject of this thread. I signed on to a couple of Gold Wing forum sites, looking for hints, advice, places to buy safety chrome, etc. So I started a thread at this one site with the subject box content "Wingstuff.com". I proceeded to ask if anyone used them to buy goodies and what they thought about their prices, service, etc.--- Same kind of stuff we discuss here all the time. HAH! I got several decent responses, then all hell broke loose. It seems as though the reason that there is no membership fee (in other words free) is because the site is owned and paid for by a big aftermarket vendor. Yes, I said owned. They are a full blown "have almost everything" vendor. On the home page their banner shows as a sponsor, not "owner", with some smaller banner sponsors also shown. The smaller ones are not directly competitive with the owner, that is not allowed. They offer different goods and/or services. Now comes the good part. The moderator works for the vendor! So, along with him, several members unloaded on me for daring to mention a competitor on their site. After a lot of bantering, name calling and expressions of ill will, the thread got deleted. Some of the other members expressed some support for the "newbie" and some thought the others were way too harsh, but the end result is you must conform to their rules. My way or go away. Be very pleased and happy to pay your $12 a year and have a site that is "by the membership, for the membership"! This site occasionally has some minor conflicts and the boss has to step in, but believe me, this place is wonderful compared to what I have just experienced. I know that there are some really good guys on that site, but I ain't gonna be there. Congratulations to the members, moderators, and administrators of this site. An enjoyable place to visit. I have totally enjoyed being a member here. I'm done.
22. Its a real bummer when a customer asks for your info because your website is no where to be found? Huh? WHAT????!!!!! For those of you who know me and my work please hang in there. I'm still in business and my number is 530-905-0505. My web guy is working fast and furious to figure what the heck happened. I picked up a thread of someone needing a tank bib and another who couldn't find the thread about my work. Well the site is http://www.acehighleathers.com believe me it is a real site! Hang in there with me and I'll make another post when I'm up and running again. In the meantime, anyone with a question can email me (nanci@shasta.com) or call me.
23. Thanks to chabicheka, I am reposting this as a new thread rather than a response to a two year old thread by E-Fishin-C: Can't believe it - it's been a couple of months since I last signed in here, so I got a whole lot of catching up to do. Anyway, I just had my last ride on my other Yamaha Venture (my snow sled) two days ago and put it to bed for the season in my shop at the cottage, not that far from Charlies. Good timing as yesterday was over 40 back here in Toronto (and warmer today), so I fired up my VR and went for a run on it yesterday. Yea - back in the saddle again and it feels good! One of my spring jobs now is to finish repainting my trailer for the VR and start planning for my trip with my wife to the west coast later this summer.
24. Not even sure if that is the correct term. What I mean is to be able to quickly go back to a thread of interest. I've been kicking around here for almost a year and I STILL haven't figured out how to "subscribe" to a particular thread. Brace yourself....I'm just about ready to start tearing into my 83 blonde! The flood of questions will soon start!
25. Hi all this is Chad from Pioneer Motorsport. We are a Yamaha/Suzuki/Kawasaki/Can-Am dealer in western new york as well as VR sponsor. We will be attending our first maintenance day this summer, and wanted to get a thread started for special request items. We have a good sized enclosed trailer that we will have filled with Star apparel and goodies. I already am planning on bringing the standard maintenance items (Oil and filters from Yamaha, brakes from EBC, brake fluid from Bel Ray, tires - Dunlop Elite 3 and D404, an assortment of STAR accessories, etc.) If you are looking for a particular item please either post it in the official thread in the watering hole or PM me. I don't get to check venturerider every day but will at least get on a few times a week to respond to posts and messages. Thanks and looking forward to meeting everyone in a few months!
