I have a 2006 RSTD with a budget of $2000 to spend on my bike.I do not see that many RSV or RSTD so I do not have the benefit of seeing how the accessories look on the bike.I am curious how the members would spend the money excluding pipes and seats?

I am currently in the market (mainly researching right now) for a good one and/or two-up bike that can be used for local and long distance riding although I do not want a full dresser. The RSTD is one of a few models that has caught my eye that I feel might be able to serve my purposes. I am wondering, however, if there is a hard top case that can be fitted to the RSTD. Can you fit a Venture top case onto the RSTD or is there an aftermarket case that works (& looks) reasonably well? Also, I see that the RSTD is carburated for '08. Does anyone know if '09 will bring FI? All input is very much appreciated.

Can anybody point me in the right direction to find a chrome front wheel for my 2006 RSTD? I sent mine off to be chromed and it seems to have been lost ???????? Or so I am told. In the mean time I am in search of a place that sells the wheels already chromed and would sell me one without doing an exchange. Or does anybody maybe have a front wheel for sale that I could buy and have chromed. Thanks, Jerry

I’m removing the trunk and mount on my 2004 RSV and stumbled on a few threads in the past on options. For now I’m leaning on getting a RSTD backrest and was wondering if someone put together a complete list of parts and or can point me to a dealer that can get me setup at a reasonable price. -
Will a 2nd Gen Venture seat fit a RSTD? Liking the looks of the RSTD but would like a plusher seat for the Navigator. Her comfort will increase the number of miles traveled.

I posted this before and got a reply. but, the thread was deleted into cyber space. I want to hook up 4 way flashers on my 07 RSTD. I know it can be done. I don't know the part number of the flasher I need to buy. If the kind person that replyed before would reply again I'd appreciate it. I promise that I'll print it out this time. guns_usn_20 -
Folks...I got an email from one of our members who is looking for an article that was once posted here about installing a fairing on a RSTD. I've done a search and found a few threads but not the one where one of our members actually did it and posted some instructions on the bracket that he made and etc. I'm thinking that it must have been before the "Big Crash of '06". If you are the one who did it and/or know who did, please post again. It would actually also be good info to add to our tech library. -
Well......I am waiting to sell the Vulcan 750! Dealer has the2008 RSTD in the box waiting for it all to happen! Anything special I would need to know about the RSTD? Anyone in or near King George, Virginia wanting to ride?

The RSTD handle bar has a nut pressed inside the bars. I guess it's pressed in... I don't see any screw, brad or weld marks on the bar. Are they supposed to stick out like that (about 3/16")? The way the weight is machined, it looks like it should fit inside the bar about 1/8", with the weight flush to the bar. Instead, there is 3/16" gap. These are bars and weights for an '05 RSTD. If they are supposed to be that way, no problem... it just looks funny. If they are supposed to fit flush, I'll see if I can 'press' the nuts in a little more.

Hey guys, thanks for having me on the board. I have a 2006 RSTD that I am installing saddle bag trim rails on. I was wondering if anybody could direct me to a site or place that sells the side marker lights that fit these rails. Sort of like Harley offers on there dresser bikes. Thanks, Jerry

Does anyone happen to have a picture of how the luggage rack attaches to the RSTD? I bought one without the mounting hardware (cause it was cheap), but it doesn't seem as simple as I thought to mount it. Am I SOL? Thanks for the help, you all are the best! On a side note, sometimes being a cheap SOB doesn't really help. -
Need opinions on which lowering kit works best. I would like to lower seat about 1 1/4". I'm 5'7".

Help! I am installing the RSTD passing lamps and bracket from Yamaha onto my 2006 RSTD. On the old turn-signal bracket, there is a threaded boss that is used to attach the bottom headlight mount screw. But, on the replacement piece that holds both turn signals and passing lamps, there is nothing for the bottom of the headlight to screw to! So it's just hanging and kinda flopping around on the two top screws and their fairly spongy rubber mounts. Has anyone already made up a bracket to fill this gap? Have a picture? I am not a fabricating sort of a guy...... Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Bob LeDuc -
I've been using 1 1/2" risers for a year now. I like the setup better than stock, but it still isn't quite what I want. I've thought about the G2's, but they are the same height as stock and I think I like the height the risers give me (I'm 6' 2"). I thought about putting the G2s on the risers. 1 1/2" more height and 2" more pull back. I would prefer to get rid of the risers, but that setup might give me what I want. Then I looked at the RSTD stock bars. 2" more in Height and 2 1/2" more pull back... and no risers. They are 2" wider also. Do they use the same bar weights? Here are the specs: [font=Arial] Height Width Pull Back Center RSV 6" 31" 14" 7.5" G2 6" 31.5" 16" 6" RSTD 8" 33" 16.5" 8" [/font] I'm thinking I would need to go 4" over on throttle cables, upper front brake hose and upper clutch hose. If I decided I didn't like it, would the extra hose/cable length be a problem if I left them on but went back to G2 or stock+risers? Anyone got a set of RSTD stock bars for cheap? I would like to throw a set on just to see how they look and feel on the bike before I lay out the money for cables and hoses. Any thoughts?

Any suggestions as to where I can buy leveling links for my 2005 RSTD. Diamond R has them for the Venture but I don't think they will work on the Tour Deluxe. I am looking to lower my bike about 1". Any help would be appreciated.. " KEEP THE RUBBER SIDE DOWN"

Can anyone tell me where the wires for the passing lamps on the RSTD is? I did them on my Venture and I am gonna help a buddy put them on his. He is yet to get on here yet. He is not all that handy so Im gonna assist. Where do you make the connections and what else do I need to know? -

I was reading in my "Cruiser" magazine that Yamaha has discontinued the V Max. They said the RSV and RSTD are the last of the Yamaha V-4's. Man, I hope they don't discontinue the RSV.

After having my RSTD for several months I have decided that I want to get a Venture - want the trunk, CB, radio, and bars for my kids to hang onto when riding. Love the RSTD and possibly keep it for some lighter riding - will see. While I searching for a used Venture I have come across several with 30-40,000 miles on them - some are 2003-2005 years. I have heard nothing but positive on these bikes as in there quality but wondered if any of you have some wisdom on buying a bike with 30K or more on it. Also I am curious what effect this higher mileage has on the resell value ( or should have.) On a side note I find it interesting the wide range pricing I have seen on the Ventures - last week there was an brand new 2007 venture for $13400 on Ebay while I have seen elsewhere 2005 ventures for sale at $ 14500. Anyway, as always appreciate your input. -

Yesterday I Road A Friends Rstd To The Shop For Him About 60 Miles I Use To Have An 05 Myself And Thought It Was The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread Then Feb.07 I Bought My Venture And Have Road Nothing Else Since Till Yesterday The First 15 Miles Felt Great But The Futher I Went The More I Missed My Baby Don't Get Me Wrong The Rstd Is A Great Bike But A venture Will Spoil You Quick. I Told Him That Until He Was Ready To Step Up That He Should Not Ride Mine.
