  1. How common is the 10mm X 1.0 thread on most metric bikes? I think, without checking my manuals that is the proper thread for the spark plugs on our and a lot of others right? Some are on the forks if I remember right also. Looking at something but want to check on how much it might get used. Mike
  2. Old subject but have line on bike for parts that has had diaphrams changed (84) and can't remember if they are close to being the same as 87 or close. Can they be used in 87?
  3. Have a Merry Christmas, but remember.... Don't Drink and Drive http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=Z2mf8DtWWd8

  5. Some of the jokes being posted lately are a bit over the line for this forum. Please remember that this site is PG rated.
  6. After putting fuel stabilizer in and running the bike for a couple minutes does anyone turn the fuel petcock off to drain the carbs? Also I attached my batter tender the other day to the battery when I noticed corrosion on the (I believe) positive post. This is a new battery that I bought this summer so I shouldn't be having this problem. But from what I remember need to use baking soda or wife brush to clean it off. Can't remember what to use to keep it from coming back. Thanks.
  7. Hi all, I'm looking for some passenger highway pegs we saw on a very tall gent's Venture this summer. Problem is, we can't remember when we saw him & his bike, or on which ride it was on. I believe it may have been on the "Just Another Road Terip" memorial ride in the Picton, ON area last July. I have attached a sketch I made of the style for the pegs as I remember them. The are NOT the Diamond R set. If anyone knows who this person is or where this style of pegs is available, please let me know. Thanks. Bruno G "The Hat"
  8. I recently bought a Time out Dart.... and found an ad in the classifieds for a hitch.... but, now that I'm ready to buy.... the ad is GONE.. anyone know where it went.... or how to get in touch with them?? I remember the ad was for the hitch and stinger (no ball) for 150 bucks shipped.... thanks in advance......
  9. Hey guys, when installing new clutch parts, the wire ring holding the half friction, half disc and half spring plate, how does this fit in or how is it installed? I took out these half parts when I had done the PCW mod and now reverting the bike back to the original configuration but now I can't remember how this is supposed to fit in? Anyone able to shed some light as to what or how this goes together again? Desperate to get info tonight! Thanks in advance!
  10. Saturday at MD this year, I was talking to a very nice person named Shirley. We were sitting on the back deck of Freebird's house with her husband at lunch time. I also spoke to her when I was on the front porch. We were talking about the need for more T Shirts that fit women, like the Lady VentureRider shirts we had made up several years ago. Lonnie was on the front porch at the time too. I really enjoyed talking to her, but I have one big problem. I do not remember her husband's name or where they even live. Could someone please help me? I feel horrible that I do not remember. Please help if you can! Yama Mama:hurts:
  11. All, This was my first MD get together. I have to say, this group of folks have to be the nicest bunch I've met in a long time. People would ask if they could help while I was doing some routine maint on my bike... "can I hold that for you ?, need a hand ?", mostly without asking. I'm sorry, I don't remember members names much, but you know who you are... Thanks for the help and going out of your way a new member feel like he's part of the group. John
  12. Well I have to tell you folks, I sure missed our Icelandic friend Jonas at Maintenance Day this year but he made sure that we didn't forget him. He had sent a couple bottles of the famous "Black Death" that he brought with him last year. Now one bottle didn't survive until Maintenance Day...it must have evaporated or something. The other survived though and got cracked open Saturday night. Those who were hanging around the Maintenance tent that evening got to sample it and MOST seemed to enjoy it. So...thank for remember us Jonas, we hadn't forgotten you either. Also, I got a call from Jonas a few minutes ago. He says to say hello to all of you and he plans to be here, with his wife, for Maintenance Day next year. It will be great to see him again.

  14. Okay, stupid question, I had a couple bolts fall off the scooter and I'm trying to go through the parts list to find the replacments. I can't for the life of me remember what the name is for the venture, you know like fjr1300 or fbz 1300 or ? any body know off the top of your head? I'm trying to find short bolts that hold the rear trunk up on the rear fender. Thanks in advance LLoyd
  15. Just wondering if once it's time to renew our $12.00 here do we get some kind of notification or do we just hopefully remember?
  16. Made it home from the hospital last night (wife is typing for me). Still in a considerable amount of pain, but up and about on my feet. I have already started the process of looking for a new bike (with airbags!!, wife added that part) What can I say? I am a trooper! Just remember, to ALWAYS wear your helmet, and remind your friends to do the same. Here are a couple of shots of the bike. http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs494.snc3/26972_1362195648803_1048940196_31078560_6669339_n.jpg http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs514.snc3/26972_1362195688804_1048940196_31078561_5535339_n.jpg http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs494.ash1/26972_1362196048813_1048940196_31078568_5826999_n.jpg Ben
  17. Somewhere around the end of last summer, someone posted a link to a story a young rider wrote and documented with LOTS of pictures of a trip he took on his bike from down south all the way across the country on his old small crummy bike. (It was small, like an old 500) for the life of me I can't find it or a link to it now. All I can remember were the pictures of his old bike with the fenders tied on with wire, the engine oil running out everywhere, and the story he told of sleeping on the ground next to it. Anyone remember it?

    Carb sync - wow

I rec'd not 1 but 2 carbtune kits for Christmas. I finally got around to downloading the step by step procedures and did follow the easy steps. All I can say is WOW, what a difference. I've put on almost 100 miles and I can't believe the preformance and I don't get any popping. Thanks to this forum and I can't remember who posted the pics and procedures, but it was sure worth the whole 45 minutes it took me to syce the carbs. Bob
  19. Someone here a while back had bought a rear bumper/light bar that was supposed to be for a Venture but it was odd shaped. He posted some pics but if I remember right nobody could figure out what it was for. Anybody recall who posted that? I can't find the thread now. Mike
  20. ... and would like to attend the International Motorcycle Show in Greenville SC next Saturday, read this thread: [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=43959]Jan 9th, 2010 - North GA/SC M&E - Let's Go To The Show! - VentureRider.Org[/ame] Sure, it's the dead of winter, but at least we won't likely have to battle the snow. Come by bike, come by cage, come by rocket ship; it doesn't matter how you get there. Just remember, it won't be the same without you! TERRY
  21. Some of you may have seen my ad in the classifieds for my 05. I have decided to try to sell her before winter sets in so I dont have to worry about winterizing, etc. So if anyone is looking for a very clean, excellently maintained 05 RSV ....shoot me a PM and we'll talk. REASONABLE offers will be considered....remember REASONABLE...
  22. As tomorrow is Nov 11, Canada's Remembrance Day I would like to remind everyone to please take 2 minutes for a moment of silence when it turns 11am in your area to remember all that have given their lives to make our lives and country so wonderful. Here is a video about Canada's Highway of Heroes. It really is a heart string tugger when you see everyone that turns out to honour Canada's fallen soldiers. 23. I've read on several occasions where someone mentioned a Yamaha marine supplier who generally had good prices on motorcycle parts....I've used the search tab but didn't see anything useful - anyone remember the name of that supplier or their web address.....thanks.
