  1. Hey guys, I started collecting some of the points off of the Mt. Dew boxes and such for the Mt. Dew gear. Well I have enough for a long sleeve t-shirt so far, but I would also like one of those Drake MST Eqwader Plus Quarter Zip pull overs as well. So I figured what the heck, I'll beg for some points. So if ya drink Mt. Dew and don't collect the points, can ya send me the codes please? Pretty please? Pretty please with sugar on top? With a cherry on top even? Thanks for any help! Bill
  2. I was in Costco the other day and they had a pretty nice looking motorcyle trailer. tried to look it over but they had it standing on end so I could not see the under carriage as it was against the wall. Had nice 12" tires with chrome rims. Nice finish and a fairly low profile. I did think it was a bit long but other than that it looked to be built pretty good. Price was $1400 Canadian. I think you had to buy a spare tire as that was not included. Weight was 150 lbs and cargo load was 250lbs Check out there link http://www.pod-ium.com/PODIUM-motorcycle-luggage-trailer-aluminum.html Bob:301:
  3. If anyone is in the market for a video camera to mount on your bike this is a good deal. Its not HD but does a pretty good job. Keith http://www.visions.ca/catalogue/category/Details.aspx?categoryId=683&productId=7107&sku=X170
  4. You know how projects that start out simple turn into something else? Well I seem to always make that happen. I decided this winter I would make a smoker out of 2 air compressor tanks. I had a Harbor Freight trailer already so I thought why not make it mobile. So every now and then I would work on it and do a little more each time. I pretty much had it all done, and I decided it would get kind of hot out in the sun, so I better have some shade. So today I made a quick mount for an umbrella. Then while I was doing some baked potatoes on the grill I figured I better make a quick table for my soda (no beer for me). So I am pretty much done with the mods, until the next time I use it and think of something else. Heres a few random pics. I think it turned out pretty good.
  5. A girlfriend of ours needs a new chain and she is on a budget what would be a good brand of chain without spending a arm and a leg. Shop quoted her 300 bucks installed but I'm pretty sure I can put it on. 1999 Honda VLX 650 or 600 cc Thanks
  6. I guess is this is SUPPOSED to be for the ladies...but we seem to need to appologize so much that perhaps we can use it too. Just type in the name of your lady and go....it takes about 30 seconds to start but it's pretty amazing. http://obtampons.ca/apology
  7. http://www.rftw.org/index.asp?lg=1&w=pages&r=132&pid=120 Any one from here involved in this? Happened appon them at there first Hotel as I'm in Ontario, CA on busieness there was one lone RSV in the lot of Harley's and a few wings. Then the next mornining saw a couple groups and trailers on the way out of town. Pretty touching to see them all seemed like a great group of people but I never found the owner of the RSV. AND SAFE TRAVELS
  8. Just a couple of pics from our ride, Maria is the pretty one, and still looks good after puttin up with me for 29 years!
  9. Hi Guys! I have a 1980 Honda CB 750K which has an pretty old throttle-lock on it that I would like to replace with a more recent made, better quality one. Does anyone have any suggestions for one that isn't too pricey but which is pretty good quality? The attached pictures are what my current one looks like. Thanks for any suggestions! Be Safe! Pete
  10. Darnitall if I can find a thread I know I saw not too long ago. Subject matter: converted the space (some of it, at least) where the radio equipment used to be into a fine looking storage cubby. Pretty sure it was either stainless or aluminum. Somebody point me to that thread(s) please! Thanks!
  11. Looks like painted to make look pretty. Still looks like it might be a good one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-XVZ-XVZ12-XVZ13-Venture-1200-1300-Exhaust-Collector-Chamber-1983-1993-US-/400287635350?hash=item5d33009796&item=400287635350&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr

  13. I want to mount on our '07 RSV, and for the life of me, I can't find the thread where this mod is addressed. I'm pretty sure it is simple, but that's about all I remember. Anybody else know about this? Thanks. Bert
  14. wells guys just bought my first venture. been a bike fan since i was a kid and my first boss had one of these. thought it was awesome then and still do. i been getting acclimated to the site. there's lots of info on here and have to say i'm real impressed to see a group of people so willing to help each other out! thanks for letting me be a part of this. i guess i'm ready to test some of my wrenching skills to get this thing safely ready for the road.. it's got 30,000 miles on it and the paint was redone 2 years ago. visually its looking pretty good but i have a few of the gremlins that are common. i've been gleaning off the threads but i thought i'd start my own and maybe list the things i've noticed and we could work together on getting them reslolved. i was told the 2nd gear issue was resolved at the dealer already and i haven't noticed any issues. FIXED - 1. starting issues, especially when the bike is warm. gonna check out battery and charging FIXED -2. front end suspension seems off. saw oil on the brake caliper. feels uneasy in turns. it takes the bumps really hard up front, but feels okay on a smooth road FIXED - 3. the air suspension monitor seems to not be functioning. i only see "psi" on right side FIXED - 4. seems to idle a little rough, you have to choke it slightly to get it to idle at 1000-1200rpms. then idles okay part in the mail - 5. the pipe stubs on the front side of the exhaust crossover are broke on both sides. makes it pretty loud FIXED - 6. rear trunk has the small cracks around the front holding tabs, making it a little wobbly FIXED - 7. felt like the clutch was slipping when i took it out to open it up at high rpms. may have felt like an engageing issue, not sure its the fibers, maybe master cylinder? FIXED - 8. seemed like neutral was a little hard to find when the bike was hot i'm hoping to get the starting / running issues resolved and then keep working on the list. here's a pic to give you a vision http://i642.photobucket.com/albums/uu148/DOZER520_photos/DSCN3465.jpg http://i642.photobucket.com/albums/uu148/DOZER520_photos/DSCN3468.jpg
  15. Has anybody clicked on the Google thingy just above the search bar. Pretty cool
  16. Here is a pretty darn good video showing the installation of the Mic-Mute on a Honda Goldwing. Many of us here have the Mic-Mute on our Royal Star Ventures and I honestly think that it is one of the best things you can do to improve the audio system on these bikes. The installation is obviously different on the RSV but the components and operation is pretty much the same. On the RSV, you have to split the fairing but it's really a pretty simple installation. Also, we already have the passenger push to talk switch. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvBfCKVT_PM&feature=player_embedded]Mic-Mutes Install on 2012 Honda Goldwing GL1800 - YouTube[/ame]
  17. As I continue to knock off items on my winter maintenance schedule, tonight I got to the carb balancing. I bought a Carbtune a few months back knowing that this day was coming. Using skydoc_17's document was the ticket to making this task a breeze. Thank Earl! I read the document a couple of times and located the all of the screws. I was pretty surprised at how far off the carbs were considering that it was running pretty well. 3&4 were pulling so much vacuum that the slides were pegged and 1&2 were way at the bottom. I actually had to do the 1/2 & 3/4 balance first just to get things in the ball park. After going back and forth a few times, this is where I ended up. http://www.raymondstacy.com/carbtune.jpg Once the weather breaks I will put some miles on it and check it again. The gen2 starter is working really well. All thats left is to change the oil and install skydoc_17's drain plug fix.. I should have my seat back from Rick Butler in a couple of weeks. I cant wait to take it for a spin!
  18. My daughter and her husband is looking at them for the mileage claim is pretty darn good for a sport utility. Like to know the pros and cons of this vehicle.
  19. The day before Thanksgiving, while preparing to set up a large turkey frying pot, Johnny, a friend from work, sustained 2nd to 3rd degree burns over most of his upper torso and head. He was life flighted to UF Shands burn unit in Gainsville FL for treatment. I talked to him by phone several times, all the while I still couldnt picture the agony he was in. They did a skin graft and so far its doing well. He made it home a few days ago and I went over to see him. It all hit me hard. While his face sustained some pretty severe burns it wasnt as bad as I had imagined. The rest of his upper body was wrapped up pretty good. He described the experience to me and it all came home pretty hard. Hes a pretty easy going guy and quite gregarious at times so to see him in such pain really had an effect. He says the scrubbing down is the worst. He served in Iraq at least twice that I remember and he said this is 100 times worse. He has developed a bad fear of fire now. We did manage a laugh when he said that if he was ever back in Iraq and caught and they brought him by a fire he would give everybody up!! Even laughing hurt him. But he still has some of his good humor with him. Just say a prayer or have a good thought for him as he recovers.
  20. I bought a Last of the breed Pontiac early this year. 4 door G6 pretty well equipped. What is this thing going to do. Will it hold value pretty well or bottom drop out because they aren't around any more. I thought it would hold pretty well. Some dumba** tried to tell me yesterday it is worthless because they don't make them any more. I couldn't get Blue book to work this morning.Pretty sure its not worthless.
  21. A few weeks ago I found a set of Hopnel accessory bags listed on Ebay. They were double ugly but I went ahead and bid on them anyway.... and I got them cheap.. After receiving them I used Farnam's Leather New on them. I wasn't sure if they were leather or nauga hide, but figured what the H.. Below are the Before and After pics. They came out pretty nice... They came off a '99RSV so now all I have to do is figure out where they were mounted??

I received this by email and thought it was pretty good. http://www.theinspiration.com/2011/09/carlsberg-stunt-in-cinema/
  23. I've gotten to the point of reading the carbtune for the 1st time on my 91 VR. My instructions says to bring carb 1 & 2 to an even level then the same 3 & 4, then sync up 1&2 with 3&4. Well I got 1&2 evened out at around 27/33 and 3&4 to around 40. That could be the reason why my mileage was so bad. The carbs probably nevers been synced sinced left the dealers lot it only has 6700 miles on it. So I now have 1&2 pretty even with 3&4. Is the reading supposed to be pretty steady or is it supposed to bounce with about 6 units of variance? So right now all 4 are bouncing between 28 low and 34 high.
  24. I haven't posted here for awhile as I haven't had a ride. Today I traded my 53 Mercury for a 98 Ultra Classic Anniversary edition that is pretty sweet. I decided I would rather be riding then sitting at a car show!
  25. I see there are several brands of Speed Bleeders out there. Is there one brand that is recommended over all the others or are they pretty much the same. Thanks
