  1. A big thank-you to Herb and Squid. They fixed my speedometer Sunday night at the Hub. Sure was nice haveing it working again along with the cruise control. Thanks guy's. Gil
  2. Not sure where to post this. My 05 Venture fell over in the toyhauler this weekend, crack and scratch the outer fairing. I was wonder if anyone had one to sell or know of one for sale yamaha silver color would be nice.
  3. Right hand side exhaust on my '99 RSV finally rusted through. I ride year-round in New England. I see that new OEM exhaust pipes are around $250 each side but the mufflers are around $800+!!! I want nice and quiet exhaust. I see lots of posts about after market slip-ons and HD exhaust. Any suggestions for moderately priced exhaust system? Anyone have 2nd Gen exhaust for sale?
  4. Eileen and I had a very nice ride today. Did the Cherahola/Dragon loop. Left Helen and took headed to Robbinsville. Did the Dragon and got rained on pretty heavily but still had a nice time. The took 129 to 72 and that across to 411. 411 to 360 and then 165 all the way back to 129. Got back to Helen about 8:00 this evening. Took a few side trips also and ended up doing a total of a little over 300 miles. Wish I knew how many curves we actually went through today.
  5. Just wanted to say thanks to those that helped with my problem, when I jacked up the front end I could see it was bottoming out, duh---must be my gray blond roots showing!!! Installed a set of Progressive fork springs, thanks also to the tech. talk where there are nice instructions/photos, and was out testing it in less than a hour. The more I ride the trike the more I like it, getting more and more dangerous to ride my two wheeler, forgetting to put my feet down when I stop. As a new guy to the group it's nice to have so many willing to help. I also understand I'm supposed to post some pictures of the trike but will have to get my 9 year old grandson to help with that task. Thanks again for the help.
  6. Looks like the weather is going to be nice for the next few days in the Lake George area, I think the wife and I are going to head up for a few days, anyone know of any nice places to stay at for $100 a nite or less, less is better. Also any nice places to eat or see. Thanks for any help. Craig
  7. I just came back from a nice ride South on State Route 43 in Ohio. We went from Malvern thru Carrollton and down to Amsterdam. There are some really nice twisties in the 47 mile round trip and all were equipped with tar snakes. I happy to report that conditions were such that the snakes were of no consequence to affect riding at all. The temperature was 75 plus and the snakes were all older ( as in not recent) but I couldn't feel them at all. I starting to REALLY like my KUMHO !!
  8. Ronda and I had a very nice ride yesterday through the Black Hills. She had taken some very nice video of the Iron Mountain road, but unfortunately the memory card crashed after we got home. (Also lost a bunch of grandbaby pictures). Anyway, during our riding the hills and talking a good portion of it we decided to seriously think about selling our '83 Venture Royale and get something new. I would very much like to see someone from this group to give it a good home. I will get it posted in the classifieds later. Very low mileage, just rolled over 30k. I will post again when I get it listed in the classifieds.
  9. Check this out. Looks really nice. http://www.motorcycledaily.com/20september08_kawasaki2009vulcan1700voyager.htm Stuart
  10. Had a very nice ride today with Blackjack and his GW owning neighbor Kenny, I met up with them at a Mc D's by my house and we rode down to Columbus, Ga. to pick up Muffinman's 1st Gen and trailer, he got moved onto the base sooner than expected......funny thing is Blackjack was riding B...tch on the GW, but he had a nice ride waiting for him at the hotel where the bike was parked, he got to ride the Secret Squirell bike back to his house, towing an empty cargo trailer, we took a nice scenic ride back to Newnan on Hwy 27 which passes with a little detour over Pine Mtn., and through FDR State Park.........Parted company with them at 12:oo noon back at the Mc D's we left from. Thanks to Terry for calling and including me on the ride, it was a great way to spend a beautiful cool moring riding with friends.......... And Muffinman, if you are reading this, there are just a couple of extra scratches on it, he almost caught it, but almost doesnt count now does it...............but who pays the $5.00 the rider or the owner...............:stickpoke: v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v Just pulling your leg Muffy..........
  11. We had a nice Saturday ride yesterday. We rode up to Superior, WI to have dinner. Total trip was 363 miles. Google Map of our trip The worst part was one the way up a hornet went up my left pant leg and stung me three times before I managed to kill the bugger. My left calf hurt for hours. It's really fun trying to kill it while trying not to crash! Other than that the weather was cool and breezy (heavy wind on the way up). I finally got to see how bright my new headlight is, it be bright!

    WOW Squid

First hope you got home OK after your trailer problems. Must of been a great deal in Vermont to pass by that 1st gen for sale in your own back yard, about 500 ft. north of the Blue River. Now the WOW part. That's sure a beautiful area of Michigan you live in. From St. Clair south to Algonac everything was so clean and well kept, and riding along the river had marvelous scenery along with all the Women in their bikini's. Took the ferry to Harsen's Island and that was a nice ride in it's self. Make a nice little ride for a summer meet and eat. Good luck on the new scoot.
  13. Anyone have any advice on changing tires....im looking for a nice set of whitewalls for my 03...
  14. Saw a midnight in Northeast Pa. calls himself Darkside from Fl. was up to Me. on road 3 weeks couple more to go member here ???? Very nice couple first time I ran into a venture rider just traveling on the road.
  15. Here I am with my RoadKing pipes (slip ons) and they have a nice rumble to them when it's cold out but now in the summer heat they are tamed down and sound like all the other RSV.. not bad.. no worries.. But Hmm what if I wanna have a louder sound? Not talking about ear splitting racket but a manly-man sounding bike, ya know? (yes, you know what I mean I keep seeing references on making the RK pipes louder but can't find info how to do it or if it's reversible.. Or would I be better off with a new set of slipons, ones that are meant for the RSV, that offer a nice sound.. The Baron 4-2-4 I've heard and didnt like the look or sound, unfortunately, sorry.. What's everyone else running that they enjoy most? Thanks in advance. Cheers

  18. Ok, I'm very busy today with questions. LOL. I'm thinking about giving my old girl a new paint job. She is warn and wheatherd. I don't have the money to pay someone to do it, so I think I'll try my hand. I'd like to get some opinions and advice as I move forward. Any good sites that would be helpful? What's the best paint to use? Can I get a "nice" finish with a rattle can? Just starting in the planning stages, but I love a new project. Thanks, to MarCarl my scoot is running GREAT! Attending MD was the best thing I could have done! But now I'd like her to "look" good too! Thanks~
  19. Has anyone ever removed the UGLY, BIG, Takes Up Too Much Room speedometer on the Gen II ? I don't care for the lower pods (intake stuff?) nor the funky speedometer unit on my bike. I think I need to make a trade with someone who has a nice Gen I and wants a newer bike. I think I like the looks of the early models better. ALTHOUGH..... mine is running great now that I had it worked on yesterday
  20. Just got back on site today after taking the week riding home with big tom, taters, don and luellen and having a great time-- went to gettysburg, to lancester area, up to the poconos and met up with jonas before he left, lastly along route 6 and finally to buffalo ny area....... Want to say it was nice meeting so many people at dons and putting a face to the names/handles...already looking forward to next year.......might be nice if all members have a picture of themselves as/on their avitars-getting old and tough to keep everyone straight and a face would help....... Now i have to say that meeting all of you and seeing your rides and talking mods, you are all going to cost me money as i see what i want to do to my ride (07 midnight)...and it might never stop-oh well........ Lastly i know that you will all agree that thanks to don and his family is in order as he really opens his home to a bunch of strangers and all the time he puts into the event and site must be enormous--it was a pleasure meeting and talking to you don and you will continue in my prayers-god bless ..... to all members---RIDE SAFE AND BEST WISHES craig (spankym)
  21. I've been looking at all the MD post and pix. In almost everyones threads, this gentleman seems to be in at least one photo. It's nice to put a name with a face (or legs)and just wondering who this camera shy guy is? Anybody know?
  22. Just on my way back from lunch and saw a two tone blue first gen. on hwy. 142 in Covington Ga. going by the home depot. First one i have seen in my neck of the woods, just wondering if it was a member. I did not have enough time to turn around but it looked like a very nice bike.
  23. TO ALL WHO POSTED PICS OF THE FUN AND FRIVOLITY HAD BY ALL AT FREEBIRDS' MD :ice_thy-vi101212101MUCH APPRECIATED. IT WAS NICE TO SEE "FACES" OF PEOPLE I HAVE SHARED CONVERSATION WITH, AND WHO HAVE HELPED ME OUT ON HERE.
  24. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=160339823757 I know Saab's a little and thought this one might be nice.
  25. I went to install my new ignition switch this am. Figured no more than an hour tops. Took off the seat, tank and disconnected the wires. Looked closely and saw the "security" bolts. WTF??? Real nice.....I walked away for an hour then approached it with a better frame of mind. Whipped out the trusty dremel, cut a slot in the head and whacked it out with an impact screwdriver. Took a few good whacks. Discovered that there is also blue loctite on those headless bolts. Since I have the Barons risers, the stock leftover handlebar bolts fit perfectly. At the time I was cursing out the genius at Yamaha who came up with this brilliant idea. Later on I thought about it. If I wanted to aquire someones real nice. maybe new, fully decked out RSV all I would have to do is to spring for a new switch, remove the seat and tank, unbolt the switch and install the new one complete with keys! 10 minutes and im off.........Still not sold on the idea but at least I can now understand the reasoning behind it..maybe.....
