  2. Been great riding weather up here in Michigan and bike has been broke since Aug. 22nd. There will be another 1st gen for sale soon. Need something newer, Good riding weather in Michigan is to few and far between. Venting done, continue with what you were doing.
  3. Got home from Minnesota around 11:00 last night. Really glad to be home again and am ready for things to get back to normal. Weather was fantastic there and it would have been great to have had my bike with me. Oh well.... Home for the weekend but then have to get on the road again. Probably somewhere in Michigan next week so that's not too far a drive for me. Have some updates and etc. to do on the site and will probably be doing that on Monday evening after I get checked into a hotel somewhere. Nothing major, just some security upgrades.
  4. Thanks for posing at the Tim Hortons in Corruna, Ontario and Thanks for riding in the Down Pour I don't about this Michigan State, 95% of the time when I leave it Rains:doh:
  5. The one thing Flint does right is it's "Back To The Bricks" car show. It started today and goes on thru Sunday. 20,000 cars last year. It is well done and the rolling cruise every night goes from Flint to Grand Blanc so there are plenty of places to park and see the cars. Saturday they are at the Sloan museum during the day. Here is the link to the web site. http://backtothebricks.org/index2.html So if you find yourself in Michigan it is worth the ride to check it out.
  6. :confused:Was just wondering guys before I go through it all to build a carb sync tool is there anyone in michigan willing to help a guy out with one? figured i would check before i start building....
  7. Hey Ladies and Gents, The title is a little misleading, but it sums up what's gonna happen. Today I got the axe from work, as well as about 20 others. Kinda surreal right now, but I'm not wasting any time. This is an opportunity to get out of the huge suck hole called Michigan and move somewhere else. If I can impose on you members, and ask for your help in networking myself, this would put Lonna's mind at ease. I am a powerhouse mechanic and a certified arc welder. We are looking to head either to the Houston Texas area or the Knoxville/Chattanooga Tennessee area. If anyone knows or hears of work in these areas, please shoot me a PM. As always in life, another hurtle and I believe that God is smacking me upside the head for a reason.....and I believe that reason is to get out of Michigan. All the best and hang on for this trip, it should be a good one to listen to
  8. Folks I have put up Wrongways set of pillow top seats from his '04 in the classifieds. I know there are some of you that have been looking for a set and here is one for you. I have them in Michigan at my house, so PM myself or Allan if you have any questions http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=2180
  9. Hi everyone! I just aquired a beautiful 1986 Venture Royale 1300. The bike was my brothers and he stopped riding it a couple of years back. I'm in Georgia and the bike is currently still with him in Michigan. He just shipped me the carbs and I'm going to start going through them tomorrow. He replaced the diaphrams in it just recently and I guess didn't get the results he was looking for so he gave up. I'm wondering if a rebuild kit is available or necessary? Also, I'm wondering the do's and donts here. I'm not a mechanic but am pretty good with things like this. A good buddy of mine is a master mechanic and I will be at his house with these carbs tomorrow to start going through them. I'm wondering however, what will NEED to be rerplaced and what can be foregone? My mechanic friend forgets I'm broke and will have me buying EVERYTHING new. I need to only replace what needs to be replaced. I'm on a tight budget. Should all gaskets and o rings be replaced? Needles? Jets? etc? Once I get them all done I'll be flying to Michigan to put them back on, sync them and "hopefully" have a great ride back home. Any help or advice before I get started would be much appreciated. OH!!! I almost forgot. How do I know the diff between 1st gen and 2nd gen?? I'm sure I'll be reading and posting regular. I'm particular about this stuff and will want my new baby to be perfect!!! Thanks again in advance!!
  10. Northern Michigan to MD on Friday, Anybody? My Route will be M-115 to US-10 to I-75 to US-23 South to State Line... 350 miles One-Way... Maybe we can MEET somewhere? I DO NOT want to commit to any meeting place and time South of FLINT, MI. (due to traffic and time unpredictability. I hate driving under pressure).
  11. It seems that the bad economy times had attacked most of our friends (and myself) here in Mi. If not, everybody left and now has a new Goldwing or HD??? Well, in case this is not next M&E on proposal to be on Leon's on 23830 Michigan Ave Dearborn, MI 48124 next saturday at 09:30. Please confirm, so there is no reservations at place... 14. Hey Folks, Some of you local folks know that I have a very good friend that owns a Honda dealership in Richmond, Michigan here called Peak Powersports. http://peakhonda.com/default.asp Quincey and I have been good friends for right at 10 years and I would do anything for him. I lead a charity ride that a few of our members participated in last September..... Anywho. He has a great sale going on right now until Febuary 20th on Dunlop tires. I know there are quite a few of you folks that like the Dunlops and I'm going to do everything I can to give him a shot in the arm as the economy here in Michigan is sucking badly. Deal is he needs to get orders for 20 of tires by Feb 20th and his distributor will give him a great discount. He is passing the saving on and has offered this up. If you place an order and pay for the tires before Feb 20th he will mount and balance the new tires on your rims that you bring to him for FREE. He will also do them if you bring in the bike, but you'll be charged the labor for taking them off the bike and back on. His prices are VERY competitive with the online stores and he stands behind what he does. I dont put my name on many things or companies that I dont trust, Q is one of the best. If your local here in Michigan and are needing tires for whatever scoot you own (That includes dirt bikes and ATV's) please give him a call and see what he will do for you. Quincey is the owner and his youngest son Nick works for him as well. Check them out as they have a lot to offer
  15. Ok folks it's mc show time once again here in Michigan. This year it's on Jan 2nd - 4th at Rock Financial Showplace 46100 Grand River Avenue Novi, MI 48374 As in the past I plan on going on Saturday with breakfast at the Big Boy prior to the opening. Who else may be there? I'll start a list here and we can figure out what works best for everyone. Larry Here's a link to the shows website --- http://www.motorcycleshows.com/ Check #11 post as I won't be at Big Boy's after all.
  16. No wonder Squid wants to get out of Michigan. It's the home of Hell. I think it's froze over to. The History of Hell Michigan Hell was first settled in 1838 by George Reeves and his family. George had a wife and 7 daughters – no reason to call it Hell yet… George built a mill and a general store on the banks of a river that is now known as Hell Creek... The mill would grind the local farmers grain into flour; George also ran a whiskey still, so a lot of times the first 7-10 bushels of grain became moonshine. In turn, horses would come home without riders, wagons without drivers….someone would say to the wife, where is your husband? She’d shrug her shoulders, throw up her arms and exclaim, Ahh, he’s gone to Hell!” In 1841 when the State of Michigan came by, and asked George what he wanted to name his town, he replied, “Call it Hell for all I care, everyone else does.” So the official date of becoming Hell was October 13, 1841...

  18. Sorry I have been so absent! The job has consumed my life over the last few months and will probably continue to do so until the end of the year. I have been popping in and reading and trying to keep up with everyone's activities, so keep posting so I stay current! Deb and I have not really been out on the bikes since we got back from Michigan back on July, so we need to at least correct that problem as soon as possible. Anyway just wanted to check in, say hi and ride safe!
  19. On our vacation we went to Mackinaw City, Mi. To get there we crossed the Mighty Mac. This bridge is impressive. To get all the details on the bridge visit it's web site [/url]http://www.mackinacbridge.org/. It is 5 miles long and is the third longest suspension bridge in the world and the longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere. First trip across, the video run time is 6:05 minutes. This is how long it took us to cross the bridge doing the speed limit of 45mph. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpaaFCTYZOY]YouTube - Crossing the Mackinac Bridge[/ame]
  20. At the end of the month I'm going to take a few day off and head up to Northwest Michigan with the wife and a few friends. I was hoping we had some members here that could suggest some good roads to ride, places to eat, and a cheap place to put my head on a pillow, places not to go, and so on. On my map rt22 looks like a good road?
  21. If you were working tomorrow, this would be a really great distraction! I'm leaving tomorrow at 0400 CST, going round the lake. AKA, going around Lake Michigan, counter clockwise. We're taking about 3 to 4 days, give or take. So, I purchased this GPS transmitter that will transmit my location during my journey every 10 minutes on the internet, which means you can "track" my travels as I go along. Again, not something to do on a sunny weekend day! I will also attempt to post to this forum via Blackberry, as I did when I purchased the bike and brought it home 1115 miles. Murphy is of course, kicking my arse at the moment and, whaddya know the web tracking website is DOWN. All friggin day. The link below "should" be working by tomorrow morning, so they tell me. http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=07AVc4aiQsNh8cYYCBy7sbYRAizTEtyEW So again, this is kindof experimental but, it has worked previously. Just, don't try now, as the web site is down. C ya!
  22. I have off this weekend anyone planning any rides for this weekend from Michigan? Joe
  23. Talked the hubby into taking off Thur-Sun to go over to Lake Michigan this week. Don't really have a plan. We plan on camping as it's so reasonable to camp in Wisconsin. Because of one drama after another, we haven't had much riding time and it will do us both to get away for a couple of days. Anyone know of any special roads to ride, places to stop? Any nice campground by the lake? Thanks
  24. We've decided where to go on our annual anniversary trip. We're heading to Mackinaw City, MI. We should be there from Monday Sept 29th to Friday October 3rd. So far we've planned to go and not much else. We're going to stay in Mackinaw City and take day trips to various places and sights in Northern MI. I know we plan to see Sleeping Bear Dunes. I haven't been there since I was a kid and my wife has never been there. I know we'll also be stopping in Petoskey, MI. My mother used to spend summers up there as a kid and I kinda want to see the place. Other than that we have no plans. October 2nd is our anniversary so that day I suppose I should find something special to do. We are both water rats. We love being on the water so if there are tour boats in the area, I'm sure we'll be on one. I kinda want to run down the Lake Huron lake front a bit. Huron is the only lake of the Great Lakes that I have not been on and I've only see it once back in 1998. Also, if anyone is in the area then we'd like to meet ya one afternoon. A meet and eat for sure. So, what's in the Northern Michigan area that is a must see or must do? Cheers and Michigan here we come!
