Hello All, I'm new to the world of Ventures and need some info. I see here on the site references to "first" and "second" generation Ventures. I'd appreciate some clarification on the terminology. I suspect it's purely the year model ranges, but not sure. Also, Is there a site or post that provides some history of the development of the Venture in its various models to help me follow the differences between them. My bike is an '06 Midnight Venture, but I have no idea whether it's a Royal Star, a V-Star, or any of several other somewhat nebulous names. I thought I'd bought a Yamaha, but I seem to get the impression that there's a grey area here that I'm not familiar with. Help me! Thanks

This was brought up in another post, so I figured I'd create a new post with the info in case anyone is interested. Here is the spreadsheet I give to people when they come to me saying, "Help me I screwed up my computer at home!!" In the file you'll find 4 tabs. Threat Lineup - just a basic overview of the different ypes of PC threats (taken from a Maximum PC article. TechList - the collective list of many of the best websites and free software to get your computer running in top-shape. Safe Mode - many fixes require you to boot your PC into Safe Mode, you can find out how to do that here. System Restore - many threats embed themselves in System Restore, and simply pop right back, after a cleaning, when you reboot your machine. This walks you through clearing your System Restore. The file is an Excel spreadsheet. If you do not have Microsoft Excel, you can download the free viewer here, or a complete Office replacement here. Feel free to move this thread to the appropriate forum, or make a sticky if it's found to be valuable.

Is there a headlight visor that fits the Venture's headlight? Anyone with any experience with doing this? What brand, etc. Thanks for the info.

I just got a 2008 Venture and absolutely love it! Great upgrade from the Suzuki C50. So, now I'm into the fun part...accessorizing! Georgia gets a bit hot and I've already ordered the lower vents for my legs but someone mentioned that they've seen a vented windshield. Does anyone have one?? If so, how do you like it and where did you find it? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Ride Safe... Dee Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! OK folks, I just ordered another 100 Guardian Bells. First come, First served. Hi, Got my new to me 1990 Venture 1300 this weekend. I like almost everything about it other than the exhaust. The collector rattles and the mufflers are REAL quiet. You can hear the collector rattle over top of the sound of the exhaust. I saw the threads about gutting the collector and the mufflers. Both projects look beyond my pay grade. I have been looking for some type of aftermarket slip-ons but cant find any. Does anyone know of any good sounding mufflers that will fit? On my last bike, an '86 V-Max, I put on a set of Supertrapps, I would like a sound like that. Thanks for any info, Brian

Ok all you wiz's out there. What is the factory torque for the rear axle castle nut on a 1986 Suzuki 1400? The only tech info I can find tells me it is 40-63 fp. That sure seems low to me.

I am thinking about putting an infomation sheet together for those attending the rally if they want to participate. The data would be; Name Cell phone # place staying Emergency number. For those contributing, I will give you a copy of this info. You could email me at rsatkins@comcast.net with the info and I will make copies. I'm not looking for a can of worms, but need the opinion of the people that know. I can buy a Garmin Zumo 450, for the same price as a TomTom Rider 2nd edition. I need to know the advantages and shortcomings if anyone has that info. I may go to a Zumo 550, but it seems to me that the TomTom has it all covered. Thanks Carl

The paramedics and hospital emergency staff said this helped them a lot, especially before I regained consciousness."

I want to extend my handle bars out (cause my arms are short), but don't want to replace my handlebars. I looked through some of the threads for info but didn't find anything. Any help is appreciated. Thanx Glenn

Hey Folks, It seems that I am the butt (yeah go ahead and laugh) of an unusual prank. I went to change my info in my user CP to reflect my new bike in it and lo and behold, a gremlin popped up. It seems that when I went to do the change, I became a Super Moderator. Now I dont know how to react to this, I have no special powers, nor a whole lot of smarts. But I will say that being given this prestediguous title I will work very hard to be what I have been labeled. I have a new venture and I was wondering if the baffles can be taken out of the pipes and if so how does it sound? I see on here about putting HD on them but if I can do something with mine and it not sound bad why not. Thanks for the info

Stopped by the Starmotorcycles page today and saw they had the info about the 2009 V-Max up. I don't remember seeing anyone else talk about it on here. Hey everyone, Well...the trip went as planned. Left kankakee illinois on sunday morning. Had a wonderful ride down to Batesville Miss. Shortly after we stopped, a torrential storm rolled through( couldn't see across the parking lot!). By Monday morning it was clear and sunny.....sooo...off we went. Stopped by Biloxi Miss. found the Air Force Base & apartment that we lived in during avionics school(not as nice now!) then visited a friend we haven't seen in 18 years!!!left the next morning,on our way to Pensicola beach and Gulf Breeze... we met up with Glen, a member on this board who gave us valuable local info as well as general good stories of travels and experiences. A very nice guy!! Glad we got to meet up with Glen!!!Stopped for the night in clearview Florida. Next day made it to Columbia South Carolina(hot as he..) 99 deg heat index at 5:00pm!! almost melted! Thursday was the BEST ride of the trip....North Carolina,Virginia & stopping to visit more military friends in Beckley Wesy Virginia...BEAUTIFUL scenery, absolutely breath-taking!!!Stayed there all day Friday. Left Beckly West Virginia on Saturday morning, came up on the south side of Indianapolis just AFTER the storm hit. I65 & rt 31 were closed due to flooding!! Had to re-route over to I74 And catch I65 in Indy. Took us 12 hours to get home Saturday...but we made it safe & sound. Thought you'd all like to know. We had a great time ...the bike was awsome(except for my tailbone) and the wife has already started planning next year's trip!!!! Thanks again to Glenn for the "tunnel info" and the Cokes!!

Is the standard hook up for the CB a 5 pin? I heard something about a different 5 pin configuration that does not fit the Yamaha. Any info would be appreciated.

Hey: getting ready to put LEDstrip under trunk of 07 RSV and haven't opened LED package yet, wondering if anyone has info on color of wires needed to hook into for running light and brake light. also do i need to remove trunk to get to wiring? Thanks Brian d. -
Since This Is My First V Four Need To Ask Some Dumb Questions. Is It Common For The Venture To Have An Occasional Backfire. Always On The Right Cylinder Bank. Usually Only Until It Warms Up. Sometimes A Backfire When Cranking. Sometimes Slight Backfire On Decel At Low Speeds. 2500 Miles On Engine. Installed New Plugs Since Carb Float Has Stuck One Time. Thanks For Any Info.

Hubby and I are new members as of a couple of weeks ago! Started out on a 95 Virago 1100, then bought a V Star a couple of years ago so we could each have our own bike. Hubby traded in the V-Star for 05 Midnight Venture last month. Finding this forum has already been a wealth of info....but my question is for my Virago.... do you know of any place that would have a used, good condition engine guard and highway pegs reasonably priced for it? Saw your posts about the Vroom, vroom. We rode to Wabasha this weekend, jumped the river for a while then came back home. The wind was crazy.....took me all day Sunday to recoupe! 10 hours of fighting that was too much! Thanks for any info.
