  1. Hobbling around on my bad leg sometimes it don't come down right and causes me to be a little less stable than I used to be. Anyway going down some steps couple days ago and came down on it wrong. Jerked other foot backwards to catch myself and busted the pad on the bottom of my heel. The callus or whatever it is. Sure does make for a sore GOOD foot. I can walk if I walk on the heel of my bad one and the toes of my good one. I wobble but I ain't fell down. YET. I can't walk but I can ride if the weather would let me!!:crying: This probally don't make much sense but I got TWO sore feet now!!
  2. Yesterday while running errands I made a right 90-degree turn onto another road about 15 mph or so. My right foot board scraped pretty loud which I've never done before on the RSV. I've scraped pegs on other bikes but never on this one. I knew I was leaning pretty good but man. What scared me so much was my big foot, size 14 X wide was hanging off a little and the boot starting scraping with the board.
  3. I am just getting back into riding after a very long dry spell. I have bought a 96 Royal star tour classic. The problem that I have is that the heel toe shifter is not long enough for me to place my foot in between the heel and the toe. Therefore I have to place my foot outside of that area. The second is that there seems to be alot of play from left to right in the shifter. May because of wear since its a 96. Does anyone know of any after market toe shifters that will accomodate a size 12 boot? It also seems like the shifter is so close to the side of the roll bar that its hard to put your whole toe on top of the shifter. My thought was to take it to a shop and have it extended, maybe have them fill the hole with a weld (where it mounts on the shaft) and then redrill a new opening. Any comments? Thanks PJ
  4. Ok I'm getting worried now.. No joke, no fabrication here, but this evening I've had my 17th confirmed bird strike while riding my 2006 Midnight Venture this year. By confirmed I mean someone else saw it happen as well.. I've taken crows to the helmet, woodpeckers to the knee cap, various small birds through the front wheel.. pigeons exploding off my shoulder, etc etc.. this evening, a large white bird zoomed out of the woods and nailed my foot in such a manner as to twist my foot off the highway peg.. OUCH!! I had to pull over as my knee was pooched from the twisting.. My ride buddy saw it happen but couldn't ID the type of bird but all he saw was a big poof of feathers from the impact.. I ride my bike a lot, so compared to the average person, I should actually see more hazards than the guy / gal who goes from their home out to the coffee shop and back but this thing about bird strikes has me worried.. with over 30,000 miles since last summer.. My buddy, who's witnessed close to 10 of these bird strikes can't believe it but the blood and guts and bruises are not fantasy.. it hurts! He thinks it might be possible that there is something on the bike causing these birds to have a suicidal tendency.. Is it just me and my bike or is this common to get so many bird strikes on a bike?
  5. Has anyone ever straightened out the toe side of the shifter? Move it in towards the engine. It seems like it would clear up some room on the floorboard for setting the foot. Doing this might make it hard to get your toe on it. By the way, I always use both the heel and the toe.
  6. Last week i had wrote stating i bought some of those yamaha branded highway foot pegs for our bike & was asked to let ya'll know how i liked them. with my size 8 shoe/boot & a short (28") inseam, the pegs are great for me. i have them angled inward and my boots fit in the stirrup section quite nicely while my heel rests on the floorboard. if i need to stretch some to catch a bit more breeze or find a different foot placement, the spike end of the peg rests nicely in the middle of the ball of the foot. i tend to shuffle around so i am always moving from floor board to peg. others who are larger in stature wished me luck with these & i am satisfied with them. I can see where a larger boot print and longer legs would not like these pegs. a big plus is that they do look great on the bike in replacement of the universal foot pegs that came on the bike. thanks for all the input & from the differences in pricing stated in the previous post, i only paid 5 bucks more than necessary. of the other shopping blunders i have experienced - 5 bucks was a bargain. Dale in La.
  7. I had seen a pair of these nice foot pegs with Yamaha on them on ebay. they went for a good bit of money. then late (early) one night while serfing, i logged into ebay & found a new in the wrapper set. it was buy now or make offer. i made an offer. low n behold they were in my mailbox 4 days later. man, was I excited. i got to install them tonight. Please take a look at the universal ones that were on my bike when purchased and the new Yammy ones. i am happy to say i have less than 38 bucks in them with shipping and they look so much nicer than the universal pegs. now if the rain will ease up, i can test ride them!! 8. Squeeze, A while back a comment was made about the hand-control for the back brake(for disabled riders) that SPEIGLER makes and you offered to help me if I needed it...........guess what?? I NEED IT!! It is going to be safer if I can put the back brake up onto the handlebars--as my right foot needs to sit where the brake pedal is. Can you get me any information about it:think: You said the factory was not far from you, and I would appreciate any help okay:bowdown:
  9. :soapbox:My stupid arsed drunken neighbor crashed into me and scoot last night... ON A FREAKIN MOPED OF ALL THINGS! Got three nice scratches on my right side bag lid. All the way to the plastic. But heres the strange part....I did not break my foot off in his...well, you get where I was going with that. I was miffed to say the least, but he is still breathing.
  10. Well, tomorrow I have my right foot operated on. Seems my middle toe is way to long about half inch, causing the joint in the ball of my foot to drop below the others causing all my weight to be on that one joint, which hurts bad. My foot has been hurting for 25 years. The Dr. is going to remove about 3/8" from one joint, and put a plate on the topo to raise the joint up so the weight will be equal. Will have a walking cast on for a month. No riding for a month! Hopefully I can ride to the state CMA ralley on Aug. 21-23, in Talladage,Al. Will be thinking about all of you riding for the next month or more. tew47:95:
  11. When I bought the bike, I got a bike barn ( http://www.thebikebarn.net/tourermodel.html ) and it has pressure treated plywood floor. Well, I learned today the dew on the wood make for nasty bruises. Foot slipped as I was just hitting the three inch ramp a the front... Got my feet back under me in time to catch it from falling over... But I kicked the drivers floor board on the right side so hard, I thought I broke my leg. I was scared to put my foot down but had no choice. When she didn't fold like a chair I knew it wasn't broken... But Goramitt that hurt! Allot!!:sign **** happens:
  12. Need to try and raise the passenger foot pegs 6" to 8" on mt 83VR for my Daughter before riding to the hub. Her feet touch now but her legs rests on the side bag mounting bars and hurts after just a little bit of riding. Long time ago I saw a rear peg that had a chrome piece that fold up and down on it that would add about 4" in height. Any Ideas?
  13. Well just got unloaded made it home dry. Did loose a foot peg on the way see it coming louse but by the time I got stopped it was to late long gone good thing no one was behind me. Bill thanks for putting it meet on it was good to see everyone and meet new people. everyone ride safe going home eat lots of BBQ and stay dry. Kenny hope your foot in OK let use know. Michael
  14. I worked for 2 hours this evening rerouting the stream behind the house. The culvert is completely plugged and covered. The last flood I had a foot of water under my house from the hillside run off.Recently water has been flowing into the back yard and pooling where my septic field is.I took the FEL and cut a 4 ft wide channel across the dirt road and back into the original stream path. Were anticipating 2 inches of rain over the next day or so and the ground is saturated now. That private drive behind my house is no longer maintained by anyone and the road is a real mess. A two foot deep channel has been bringing the run off my way for almost a year. My neighbor stopped by after I was done and said you know your loosing your foot bridge tonight. It seems the neighborhood A$$#%#@^ pushed a 7ft wooden school bus shed over the hill into the creek just above my bridge last night. So tonight when the flood comes we may loose the foot bridge. Last time it was taken out a upstream chicken house done it. Guess we will see what happens in the morning. This much I know NO RIDING ANYTIME SOON.
  15. I got one of those jacks everyone uses (like a harbour freight one or a Can Tire one)... my "dumb" question is... what are or is the process of going about getting the bike jacked up. Mine has the foot pedal. What do you do... position it under the bike, sit on the bike, and start pumping it with your foot or what? ... and how do you line it up properly ... I don't have an adapter so was thinking about using hockey pucks (like I've seen suggested somewhere in here).
  16. Found these at MC Sports for about $75.00 each. Smaller than 2 Liter Bottle of pop / soda and 1.0 Lb & 7 oz. This Model is good to 4c or 40f. If taller than six foot look for the XL. Best part is the zip together (Ensure you purchase a RIGHT Zip and the other is a LEFT Zip) Here are the Pics: http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k249/frogmaster_2006/2FEB09001.jpg http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k249/frogmaster_2006/2FEB09004.jpg http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k249/frogmaster_2006/2FEB09005.jpg
  17. So I got a set of Kurakian offset mount highway pegs to go on my 08. The problem is the right peg wants to rotate and loosen up when I put my foot on it, and they both want to rotate around the crash bars, anybody have any ideas on how to deal with this?
  18. Would anybody have a used set of passenger Floor Board foot rest?. For a RSV 99 to present I need a set to cut up and to make a top secret Cougar Mod for longer extensions. Anyways, let me know if you might have a pair for sale or even better (Free) , I will pay the shipping. Thought maybe somebody might have added something different or might have removed them all together and might have a set laying around. Thanks! Jeff
  19. Checking out the kayak chat this morning and found this interesting trailer. They have an eight foot and a four foot tongue options. We have often joked about wanting to haul our kayaks behind our bikes... ahh the best of both worlds. Must say they are a bit spendy though. http://www.activitytrailer.com/
  20. Want to pull my running boards and heel toe shifter and replace them with foot pegs and controls and three way adjustable highway boards that sit on the engine guard. (I saw Blackjack has some of the latter for those who know him) for my '83 royale. If you have some pegs/controls or know of someone who has them and wants to part with them, give me a shout. Thanks!
  21. I had my dealer lower the front of my 09 RSV about a week ago. The bike does seem to feel a bit lower on the front and maybe handling is a little better, although I didn't have much problem with slow speed riding before. The main reason I wanted to lower the front 1" was to help flat foot at stop lights. Unfortunately I don't really notice much difference after the mod. I could always put one foot down flat and the other foot was touching except for the heel which was still about 1/2" off the pavement. I'm 5' 11" and not sure what my inseam is. Now I'm wondering if my dealer actually lowered the front (paranoia setting in). I can't remember how they looked before but the top of the fork tubes (air valves) are about 1" above the triple tree....would that confirm that the bike was actually lowered? Thanks guys, David
  22. Would it be to simplistic to assume that foot pegs for Mk1's and Mk2's are interchangeable?? Is the shift linkage that is used with the boards usable with pegs or is that a different size? What would be a fair price for a set in good condition (w/o shift link)? thanks!
  23. Kuryakyn adjustable cruise peg mount 4549, Foot board mounted. Listed for all road star and v-star 1100 models. Drill to mount. Kuryakyn Stiletto Footpegs 4476. Engine guards are flimsy, I'm 5'8'', so the foot board mount works best for me. The assembly is infinitely adjustable. Moves your feet away from the motor heat. No problems with clearance to the vents or brake/shift leavers. I like them. http://gallery.me.com/k1oj/100048/IMG_0300/web.jpg?ver=12319880000001 http://gallery.me.com/k1oj/100048/IMG_0295/web.jpg?ver=12319880220001 http://gallery.me.com/k1oj/100048/IMG_0296/web.jpg?ver=12319880270001 http://gallery.me.com/k1oj/100048/IMG_0298/web.jpg?ver=12319880370001 http://gallery.me.com/k1oj/100048/IMG_0299/web.jpg?ver=12319880120001
  24. I have a question in about the charge level of my battery.....is it normal for the battery charge indicator on the dash to go almost to the red zone when I hit the foot brake? The hand brake shows a minor pull on the battery, but when I hit the foot break, it is almost like there is a direct short some where. Is this normal or do I possibly have an issue? Thank you for any input you may have. Clay
  25. Ok seeing as how we are going to do Maintenance day again at Freebirds house lets all bring 2 red bricks per person so we can surround the pond.In doing so it may help save Don money and time repairing the damaged yard equipment.I figure in the next 3 years we should be able to have enough bricks to put up a 3 foot high wall all the way around the pond. One other advantage to building a wall is that it will keep the Pond Monsters in the pond and not out on the road riding. Jeff
