  2. To participate in, and support this wonderful program, and have one of these beautiful wreaths in your home, go to: http://www.worcesterwreath.com/ The wreath is called "Patriot Pair". I had no idea this was done. I thought you might want to see it. Arlington at Christmas Rest easy, sleep well my brothers. Know the line has held, your job is done. Rest easy, sleep well. Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held. Peace, peace, and farewell . . . Readers may be interested to know that these wreaths -- some 5,000 -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. Of Harrington, Maine. The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out . Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state.
  3. Hi just wondering if anybody is using the Dave Ramsey debt program? If so did it work or is it working for you? I'm just starting to see that it would be alot easier to have no debt. I mean of course it is but you know that aint easy. Any advice would be appreciated, what with the economy and all things have gotten uglier around here! Thanks for your input.===Danimal
  4. I have to purchase a software program for our office that has greeting cards, etc. You all know I am not a computer wiz...so I need some advice. What program is easy for someone like me to install/use. My computer is a Vista. We send a lot of corporate birthday cards, Christmas wishes but also personal cards. I would also like to be able to use photographs that we have taken and use them in the cards. Anyone have any advice? I really need an easy program to use.
  5. Hey everyone there is a 06 Venture on RideSafely.com. Low mileage and looks to be an easy fix Joshua
  6. Talk about a 1,2,3 knock out punch. Economy woes followed by a nasty stomach bug had MamaMo and I both down for the count by Friday evening. No camping no nothing. She did manage to go to work this morning and I'm thinking about a well deserved ride. Heavy snow in the Midwest and the leaves are peaking here. It's 42 degrees now but 70 -80 in the afternoon. Which scoot should I take? Thats easy only one not running is the second gen. It's the 84 's turn and today is a solo ride. Only thing between me and a good time is a 50 ft crossing.
  7. Wife and I are heading to the Smokies in the morning. Will go over and jump on the Blue Ridge Parkway and see how far we can get before Saturday. She is not big on long days in the saddle so we are going to take it slow and easy. If we only make it half way then that is OK by me. Just getting away for awhile is worth it.
  8. Our venerable leader said, "As for the vent, I will not buy another shield with the Goldwing style vent. They are VERY hard to keep clean as the bugs and grime get between the vent flange and the shield. Plus, mine stop[ped] opening and closing correctly a couple of years ago. I will use the round pop out vents from now on and would just as soon install my own. It is very easy to do." Before I order my Clearview windshield, I would like to know how many of you have vents and like them or do you agree with Freebird? Thanks for taking time giving me feedback. Lynn
  9. I am getting set up for trailering and looking for a hitch for my 2007 RSV. The Diamond R hitch looks like a good product. Is this a good choice? I am wondering if it is easy to remove the drawbar and when the drawbar is removed is the hitch essentially hidden. Any advice appreciated. Jim
  10. Giving mad props to my home slice Bummer. He's good peeps. Ok now that I got that out.... I want to thank Bummer for helping this past weekend with getting the SWR adjusted on my firestik cb antenna and also for the connector on the firestik am/fm antenna. I was amazed at how easy it is to adjust the swr. Time consuming (especially if you mount the rubber ring on the underside of the antenna bracket ), but easy. Hopefully will be able to pay it forward to someone else soon. Heard some interesting stuff on the cb on the way to work this morning. Guy not happy about a Hopper not being cleaned out apparently. Oh yeah and like you suggested I did call diamondr. Patti said she will check the shop for an extra pin. They did have one and is sending it to me. Jerry.
  11. Anyone in the Orlando area own one? I've just passed the 600 mile break-in on my 08 RSV, and would like to see how the Carbtune works ()! Local dealers want ~$300 for the inital service...and if carb synching is really as easy as it seems, I see a Carbtune purchase in my future! Been turning a wrench on my Mustang for years, and I see no reason to let someone else work on my bike! Thanks!
  12. on my 05 RSTD (12k miles) and it was WAY easy. If anybody in the DFW needs help, let me know, I have the mercury sticks and it didn't take 10 minutes. Now if only the valve adjustment would be this easy...
  13. I had a spare windshield in storage for a number of years. It was stored between two pieces of cardboard held together with scotch tape. Is there a easy way to clean the tape off the windshield? A few small strips are being stubborn.
  14. I picked up my carb sync gauge today and within a hour I had all four carbs synced and my bike runs so sweet. I thought it would be harder than it was, but it was quite easy. I suggest that you do it as recomended in the service manual. I love to ride.
  15. Anybody have any suggestions on a less expensive alternative to the Yamaha luggage rack for an '06 RSV? If so, are they relatively easy to install?
  16. Well bike is in the garage , no riding for a while stuck whit Bell's palsy , Complete half of the face paralysed .Doc said it would probably be OK in a few weeks but for now a lot of rest .How much rest do I need I'm retired LOL,,,,,,,,. Anyway got to take it easy if I want to be able to attend the rally in Kitchener . Man now the wife is laughing at me ,she says that I look like an old bull dog ,I'm fat grumpy and I drooling all over the place ,,,,, :rotf:
  17. Hubby asked if I would jump on the website (we don't have internet at home) and find out from you guys if wiring from the Venture (tail lights and blinkers)to a new carrier he's made that sits behind the bike is easy or if he needs to do anything special. I'm not sure what thread I'm looking for about wiring. He's planning on doing it tonight so any help would be appreciated!
  18. Does anyone know if the torsion spring for the cruise control in the throttle cable box has any preload on it? {I.E. 1 or 2 wraps} Or does it just hook up easy? Took it apart and can see how it works but not sure of spring tension for assembly.
  19. Well I found out this afternoon on my way home from work just how easy it is to pick up this tank of a bike. I was 1 1/2 blocks from home when i was at the last stop before pulling in to the drive. I started the left turn and noticed something in the road. I was still in the friction zone but needed to cut harder to the left to miss it. Well I did not have enough throttle and she died and just laid right over. I backed up in to her, just like on Ride like a pro and picked her right up. I hated tipping over but I'm glad I know how easy it is to get back up.
  20. I think I may have a hole in one of the pipes on the rear header so I need to take it out to take a look. What's the easiest way to remove it? I have removed the collector but didn't want to start needlessly disassembling the top half of the bike before checking to see if someone found an easy way to get it out. I have checked the manual and the site but haven't ran across anything yet. Thanks for the help.
  21. Hey y'all, I found an easy way to use that white aux power plug located just behind the battery on the left side. Even though the cap does not have the necessary pins in it to make a connection, the pin retaining clips work somewhat like wire clamps. I just stripped the ends from some 18 gauge zip cord and tinned it, then used hemostats (or small needle nose pliers) to insert the wire into the contacts in the bottom plug - they fit very snugly after tinning. Here are a couple of pictures - not the best, but you should be able to see what I am talking about: Just make sure you insert the wires into the metal contacts in the plug, not the empty spot next to them where the retaining clips are (I think that the second picture actually shows me holding the wires in the wrong hole)! The way the plug cap is designed, the wires are protected from accidentally touching once the cap is put back in place. Also, remember that this plug is only on a 5 amp fuse (located behind the right front cowling). Good luck, Goose
  22. Before I start running all over town, is the fuse strip in the main fuse,a hard to find or easy to find item? If easy ,where? If it's a hard to find item what amp fuse is it and I'll just replace the fuse holder with a different kind. Thanks
  23. Has anyone here purchased one of those (not so cheap) spoiler-type trunk lights for a 2nd gen. If so, how easy does it mount, how well does it work and most important, what do you think of it?
  24. Here is a website that sells an affordable hitch that some of the Venture riders have purchased. Easy to install and looks good. http://www.mchitch.com/products.htm
  25. here is a easy way to look up your parts you may need for Yamaha http://www.yamahaparts-direct.com/fiche_select.asp
