1. My venture max, now thinks it's a Yamadavidson, it has left it's mark on the floor of the shop here at work. (looks like the valve cover gasket, and I'll have to clean the floor) I should never have put the H/D tour pack on the back.
2. I was wondering if one of you still have a good TCI for the 84. I think mine might be bad, and don't know where I can get one to try. If you are willing to lend me one, I will cover shipping
3. I was just wondering if anyone knows what the inside of the factory exhaust looks like. My 84 still has the factory exhaust on it. It has a few patches welded on it, and a few more pin holes. If feasable, I was wondering if one could cut it open, and put a new cover on it (just to keep it looking original)..........ok, just to cheap to go buy another one. Anyone have any ideas. CBMMA
4. I want to change out my bars on my 07 RSV. I want to bring them back about 1 1/2" - 2". Who has done this and what brand and model number would I use? I bought a set of 1.5" risers off of ebay, nice product, they moved the bars back perfectly except the caps hit the ignition cover at full lock to the point it would crack the cover. So I sent them back and now want to find a longer set of bars. Any info?
5. Can anyone point me in the direction to find a fuel tank cover for a 07 tour deluxe. The OEM schmatics dont list it or I cant find it. Will the Venture cover fit.?
6. I lost my left side front speaker cover today while riding my 03 GL1800. Anybody know the part number or where I can pick up a replacement cover/grill?
7. well a man was mowing the grass here today and came up to me and said what kind of motorcycle is under that cover? i pulled off the cover and showed him the venture, he said start it up and i did i explained that a friend of mine eusa1 mike drove it back there and shes a runner. i let him pick at it. of course the little cracks and the great niece painting the trunk brown took some of the value off of it i showed him the receipt for tires batttery and brakes and exhaust. i tould him i cant let him take it for a ride as he had no MC endorsement and last time he was on a bike was 15 years ago. he said it pops and sputters at idle i explained that my friend mike said it could be dropping a cyclinder but he did take it up to around 75mph and never took it out of 3rd gear. well after all the looky here and looky there he came at me with a $700 offer i thought about it and said let me think it over. as its not in that bad a shape for an old girl even mike usa1 said she can be fixed maybe carbs and plug wires and seafoam the crap out of it. and well since its up and stored im thinking no.
8. I am using two CBDNROHSB Chatterbox headsets, bought them last December, started using them this spring. We were getting a lot of external noise (wind, etc.) and I thought it was from the passenger microphone because I figured she was getting more wind buffeting than me. I finally got to the point that I turn off the intercom until we need to communicate, just too much noise. Well, I have discovered that it's my microphone creating all of the outside noise, not from the passenger. The only way I can stop the noise is by using my left hand to cover the mike, squeeze my fingers together and really tighten my fist around the microphone. I compress the foam down to the point I can feel the microphone under the foam and then the noise stops. If I just cover the mike loosely it doesn't help. I'm wondering if anyone else is using this particular headset kit (or another from Chatterbox) and what your experience with it has been.
9. I have been chasing down a charging system problem. On the recommendationof a fellow rider, I replaced the stator. Charging system warning light still flashes. The new gasket that I had put on the side cover when I replaced the stator was leaking, so I went to replace it. Now, I can't get the transmission to shift out of first. I thought that maybe I had spun the shifter linkage when I put the cover back on, so I looked it the linkage and it appears to be ok. Put it all back together again, went to start it. It turned over for a few seconds then stopped. Now the clock reset itself, and when I turn the key to the "on" position, the clock goes dead and nothing is functioning. I am beyong frustrated and have no ideas where to go from here. Is it time to get rid of it?
10. Something like this? http://www.motorcyclenews.com/upload/271405/images/golf-rack.jpg I want to build on that doesn't cover the brakelight/license plate. Possibly off to the side of the saddle bag.
11. pulled off tank cover and found this screwed to top of air cover. never seen this b4 and cant talk to po about it. says keyless alarm but i never got anything else with bike for or about it ????
12. I read a post from Goose and he stated that you can inspect the rear pads from behind the right rear bag. I did as he said and it was no problem. Just get you a long screw driver and pop the plastic cover off, then have a bright small flashlight and your spectacles to see the brake lining. The cover pops right back on with the use of the screw driver to push down upon the cover once placed in position. My pads where in the 1/4" use range. The inside was around 3/16" while the outside was 1/4". So for those of you whom have changed and have experience with brakes. I am wondering though, just how much pad can I depend upon until change time ? Do the original pads have rib-bits in them, or are they clued? If clued then I may be looking at about another 4,000 miles till change time? The bike has 13,000 on it now, 2007 model. I also checked my Avon Venom tires with a bright flashlight for cracks. There was none. So I am pleased. They are two years old and 8,000 miles. So I am happy about that. But I am somewhat concerned about the brakes, since I have no prier experience with them. Thanks to Goose for the information on checking the pads. Thanks to all in advance for any help deciding on the pads to change. I do know that when I change, I think I need to use the EBC double H sintered pads. I saw some here in the classifieds for $ 27.00 . Fuzzy
13. I've got a small oil leak on the left side of the motor. Last year I had all of this apart to change the stator and the starter drive. The leak "appears" to be at the bottom of the left case (stator cover), not the middle gear cover. The oil looks fresh at the bottom of the stator cover, but I thought I cleaned engine and the cover carefully before I put it back together. I used no sealant on this gasket. When I look up at the stator/ignition sensor coil leads from the bottom, it looks dry. Wouldn't it be wet back there if it was leaking from the clutch slave cylinder and gear indicator switch? Any other ideas?? It's due for an oil change, so I'm planning on pulling it apart soon. Frank
14. going to romove handle bars on a 83 for polishing looks like one nut holding grips on, I assume 1 or 2 bolts at base under black plastic riser cover? can they be removed from grips an base with out disconnecting any wires ? Any help greatly appreciated Tom
15. A gell seat cushion made for autos at Wall-mart for $19.96. Yes gell seat covers are sold for $100.00 or more with the sheep skin cover just for bikes. If I could find just a sheep skin cover now to go over the geel pad, I would be in high cotton..... I hear that it works fine for our bikes from another rider here about two days ago. I found one at the local store here and I am going to go pick it up. The first store was sold out and the next store only had one, so they put it back for me. Evidently they are popular. I am driving the car to get because wifey wants to go to dress store and drive car. So I will give update later on the true effects of the pad. Right at this moment I am in somewhat of pain from a ride the last two days, about 725 mile total. Not to bad but need a little extra something in the seat. I did the Rick Butler seat mod and it is nice, but still need a little something else, and I am not getting any younger. If this works out, this will be a good seat cover for a whole lot less money. More money for gas to ride.... :mo money: Fuzzy
16. As most of you know by now I finished our trike (3.5 years). My problem is I keep pushing gear lube out of the vent that I installed. I installed the vent in the top left rear of the flipped over center section (no axle tubes). Now looking back on old photos, I can't see a vent in the the old gear case cover. I couldn't use it in the build so I threw it away. Does anyone out there have or know of someone that has a 1989/1994 Cougar or Thunderbird V6 with the 7.5" IRS. Could I please get you to look under the rear and see if there is a vent of any kind on the top rear of the aluminum cover? Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. PS Everything is closed up for Memorial Day so I can't get into any wrecking yards.
17. Hello I was wondering if anybody knew where I could buy a left turn signal cover? I don't want to buy the whole unit I just need the cover. Thanks
18. I just got a set of Troy Savoie saddlebag lid covers, thanks to a nice member here. What I need is the proper size trim for the edges to make it work. I was looking online at various u shaped edge mouldings and im a bit confused. Some of you have already mounted this cover so id like some suggestions on what I need to buy as far as trim goes. I did send an email to Troy but needless to say he never responded. Didnt really expect him to either based on his past record. Any ideas will help....
19. I lost one of the screws for the side cover. Part # 90149-06298-00 I have found a couple of suppliers but some want $13 to ship a $1.44 part. Are they any places with reasonable shipping for a couple of these? Its a real pain searching because most of them you have to set up an account to find out what the shipping charges are. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
20. i'm the new owner of a 1996 royal star (xvz13a). the previous owner had somehow snapped off the prong used to lower the kickstand. i've read the posts about welding the kickstand, but i've purchased a new kickstand from a salvage yard and would prefer to replace the kickstand. here's my problem: i can't remove the bolt holding the kickstand because it screws out against the alternator cover and won't come all the way out. is there a way to remove this bolt without removing the alternator cover? thanks for any advice.
21. ok guys i need some answers, with only 1100 miles on this new bike it seems to a lot hoter then my 06rsv after tracing down the main heat source it appears to be coming from the chrome clutch cover on the right side as sitting on the bike ( rear big cover). today i rode 5 miles and it was hot enough to feel thru my boot and pant leg after returning home i used a contact themp. and had a temp of 162 is this normal. i did check to insure the fan is running, the oil level ok only difference from the 06 is the chrome rad coveing,06 doesnt have one any suggestions thanks steve:confused24:

23. I bought a new Barons V4 Water Pump Cover and replaced the stock cover, using a new o-ring, and it leaked when starting. I tightened it down more but still leaked. So I got another new o-ring and reinstalled again today, making sure I got it seated properly. After torquing per the book (7.2 ft/lb) and refilling radiator, it leaked again. I tightened the screws down a bit more (10 ft/lb) & it still weeps. I've got 1 more o-ring left so am thinking of putting the stock piece back on again. Just wondering if anyone else with this V4 cover had any leaks? And wondering how tight do I dare torque those bolts in? Also, what's the normal water temp if the bike's been sitting at idle for 5 minutes?
24. Is there a Bleed screw for the Cooling system??? Everything with Coolant SHOULD have one! Also having trouble getting the rear caliper cover ( Flat Black Cover ) back on. Seems simple. Many Thanks bf
25. I am looking to fix the sticky seat issue in an economical fashion. Has anyone ever used a seat cover from B&H, and if so are you satisfied? Any photos? Thanks, Joel
