  1. 2005 RSTD oil plug has NO magnet??? Normal??? If normal is there a clearence problem?? Anyone tried one? Don't understand why anyone would not put a magnetic plug on from factory, especially on a bike with such a long factory warranty. Many Thanks
  2. Many Thanks! I misread the shop manual Happy Days! Thanks bf
  3. Getting ready to do maintenance on forks and steering head on my 2005 R S Deluxe. any shortcuts for fork removal? Seems a little crazy! I'm used to pinch bolts and down goes the forks. While it's apart contemplating accessory lighting, BIG on function over cosmetics. ALSO Valve adjustment time any Advice/Shortcuts? My R S has 15,000 miles and is 7 years old, put 4000 miles on last year. Last Spring I did shaft drive maintenance and Bled original fluids till clear from clutch and brakes. Flushed coolant and replaced thermo. Any other suggestions while she'sapart? Many Thanks
  4. Is there a Bleed screw for the Cooling system??? Everything with Coolant SHOULD have one! Also having trouble getting the rear caliper cover ( Flat Black Cover ) back on. Seems simple. Many Thanks bf

  7. Rear Wheel ? I broke a basic rule! I tore the RSTD down Knowing!! the Manual would get me out of trouble_____ Wrong! No measurments of bolts, spacers, washers etc....It shows the individual parts but I want to make sure it's right. Please if anyone has photos or a description of the parts from the bearings out on my 2005 RSTD rear wheel I would Appreciate some help tried to search prior to asking. Thanks in advance bf
  8. I'll Try! My computer exploits have had mixed results. bf
  9. Water pump drain bolt. If you have a Method other than loosening pipes pardon for the redundancy. I cut a 17mm socket down to an inch and cut the head off of a an old 2 stroke plug wrench, good steel, 1/8" thick, 6" long, welded the flat metal to the top of the socket and it works like a charm. bf
  10. Hope you take this right! I've been messing most of my life with 2 stroke KTM D. Bikes but have messed with 4 strokes also. In Most cases Pipes are for sound, and thats something we as a group don't need more of. People don't hate M/C's They HATE Noise! As for preformance Opening the exhaust forces in most cases a Lean condition which then means you need more fuel. Your electronics, air flow, and Carb are all mated by gifted engineers who consider all things in the design so unless you have bought the wrong M/C for your use you are better off leaving it alone. When messing with Pipes, Jetting, air and electronic settings you will in most cases end up with glitches and a more tempermental Setup. I hope this doesn't start something negative but there seems to be so much peer pressure for the bikes to be loud. How many Harley buddies do you have that ride with ear plugs? Don't want to get a bad rep. here but at least consider how good modern bikes are before you start messing with them. Good Luck BF
  11. It really is a Miracle Ginsu kinda additive! The ratio depends on your desired results. General use is 1oz. per gallon it will slowly remove gums and yucks in your fuel and combustion systems, act as an additional lube, absorbs water, and stabilizes fuel. If you have a tough job such as nasty build ups you can run safely upto 4oz. per gallon. I have even heard of people dumping whole bottles in don't think I would do that but I believe in it so much I've contemplated a good stiff morn. drink to clean out my Aging pipes. I have accidentaly spilled on my tank before and did not have means to clean it, I was sure it would be a disaster. When rinsed off NO sign it was there, but it did strip the wax off.
  12. Sorry for the persistence I would still like to buy a bracket or complete centerstand. I would also like to know what years (older venture) Centerstand you need to start with there are several on e-bay. Many Thanks bf
