1. My Wife and I are taking another cruise in January and we are taking our 20 year old daughter and her best friend with us this time. Anyway we got to talking and was wondering if people on here would be interested in a "Venturerider.org" cruise? For those that haven't been on a cruise you will either love them or hate them. This will be our 5th cruise in the last 10 years so needless to say we enjoy them. A cruise is really cheap considering what you get. I can put a cruise together leaving from either New Orleans, Tampa, or Cape Canaveral going to a couple of different places for about $675 per couple. This does not include transportation to the port the ship leaves from. These are 5 days cruises and would go to Grand Cayman Islands, Cozumel, Mexico, Progresso, Mexico or a combination of them. Anyway just thought I'd throw this out in case people would want to try and do something. I would do all the leg work and get us the best deals and set everything up. Leave your thoughts and we can move forward from here. Rick
2. Time to make a believer out of me. Since trading the RSTD back in August, I thought I'd probably let my membership here expire since we purchased a Victory. Well, I did, for a couple weeks, and really missed it. So I'm back onboard showing off our new ride. Since mid August we've logged about 5K on it. I think had I originally purchased a RSV and not the RSTD, I probably wouldn't be posting this but instead would still own the Venture. We love this Vision and wanted to share some pics. This is a great site and as Rumboogy said a couple weeks back, it's a shame more MC groups can't be this good. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa76/looped1/CassvilleFallRideMissouri2011029.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa76/looped1/PopsArcadiaOklahomaTrip056.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa76/looped1/BikesBluesBBQandEurekaOct2011123.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa76/looped1/CassvilleFallRideMissouri2011507.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa76/looped1/NewPaintArcadiaandPopstrip149.jpg
3. Our daughter Tiffany (the singer) went to Ft Lauderdale a couple weeks back to visit her boyfriend. He works on a privately owned yacht. Upon arriving back home, she announces that she's moving because she now has a job on the same yacht. She flew out this morning. Ohhhh how I wish I was younger ... I am envious but wish her all the best. They set sail for the Bahamas in a couple weeks and after that, it's off to such places as Spain.... what a tough life it will be for her .... Check it out... http://www.moranyachts.com/Catalog/Yacht/?ID=577
4. Just a heads up. I've been out of fork braces for a couple of months now, but just put in an order for another 10. Only this time around they gonna be anodized black. Thought it would be different... I'll be posting an ad in the classifieds toward the end of next week since I don't know what the cost will be until I get the invoice. I generally want to know about the cost up front, but the machinest has been more than fair with us over the years. So next week.... Attached are a couple of pics of one on my '91 that show what they'll look like installed.
5. Just noticed that the colors section under venture history is lacking the last couple of years. It ends at 2009.
6. I"ve had a couple of requests for Guardian Bells. I am out of them at this time and am thinking about having some more made. I just need to know how much interest there is.
7. I just tried to update the text in the fork brace ad in the 1stGen parts forum. Can't do it. It will not allow me to delete the curreent text and reword it. When I did a reword, and then went to delete a couple of the pics, the added text ended up be a garbled mess. A combination of the old text and the new.. So when the time comes I'll kill the ad and start over. I think it might have had something to do with the ad being shuffled around a couple of months back between the main board and the classifieds. OK actually what it did was kill my lengthy new text and replace it with the old text... after the pic delete.
8. As I get things together to do my fuse block install, various relay bypasses and, hopefully, repair of my ignition switch, I noticed something in a couple of other threads on the subject. When someone talked of installing a fuse block next to the battery so that accessories can be run off that rather than off the battery terminal, there were a couple of suggestions to put an in line fuse between the battery and new fuse block. Why? I mean, it is a fuse block - don't those fuses give you the protection you need? Why have a fuse between the battery and fuse block? There may be a good reason, but I just don't see it. Anyone? Andy
9. Been flying RC Planes for sometime now, Had a break in it for the last 3 years. But as Winter is coming on I am back into it as so I do not go CRAZY for the next 4 or 5 months being stuck inside here in Iowa during the winter. bike is all put away and the modeling begins. My Question is ALL this talk about Sea Foam and I use it faithfully and it's wonderful stuff, why would it not work in my older nitro fuel that has been sitting for a couple years? maybe put an once or so in the gal jug? The older fuel has been indoors all this time. for that do not know our airplane fuel has nitro/methane and a percentage of oil in it. and are used in 2 stroke and Four Stroke model engines. Thanks for your in-put Jeff
10. OK...either I'm going blind and have skipped right past the section multiple times or it just ain't in the service manual I downloaded from this site?? I'm looking for a step by step to make sure I don't mess anything up during disassembly. I've found a couple for Gen2 but not Gen1. I'm sure it's been posted before but I can't find that either...maybe I should look for a search tutorial first:confused24:
11. I might be able to get a 1985 venture with 60,000 miles on it for about $800. Was curious to know if this year bike has that problem with the weld breaking by the swing arm that I have read in a couple of posts and if the bike is actually worth buying or should I look for a later model?
12. http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w109/chromeandleather/100_2285.jpg http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w109/chromeandleather/100_2286.jpg Couple from this morning.
13. I just finished installing my new Lynksys E3200 and now have no use for my old Netgear Range Max WPN824 v2. It works fine but I got tired of rebooting the router now and then. It worked for a couple of years fine but this summer started needing periodic reboots, every couple of months give or take. Rather than letting it clutter up my garage even more, I'm offering it to anybody that wants it...
14. It looks like the backrest is easy to remove for the times that I have a passenger on the bike. Is that correct? A couple of pins and pops off? Do the brackets for the backrest tend to dig in to the seat? Any wear marks or holes from the backrest or the brackets?
15. I'm kinda a weather nut so I'm always interested in things having to do with earth changes. Some of you may have heard of the happenings in Turkey, but I've never seen anything like what's happening right now. Check out http://quakes.globalincidentmap.com/ A couple of 7+'s and a bunch of 5's in the last couple of hours. Wonder what's going on???
16. Is it really necessary? If so, then a couple more. I've read suggestions somewhere to plug the exhaust pipes if the bike is going to be parked for a while. If so, I'm thinking of a ball of aluminum foil. Any better ideas? Is there any reason to park it on its center stand, rather than the kick stand? Winter here mostly means grey days and rain, with a few riding days mixed in. So I want my bike ridable on short notice. I got it laced with seafoam, connected to my new solar battery maintainer, and covered. Any other tips? Thanks tom
17. Sooooo, a couple goes to the movies [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RS3iB47nQ6E&feature=player_embedded]AND[/ame]
18. I have a 2008 Venture...I'm very frustrated right now with my dealer trying to diagnose my bike. I'm on my third battery in 8 months. They put the third one in a couple of days ago and from the conversation I think mostly because they don't have a clue. What has been happening is that if I don't ride for a couple of weeks the battery was dying...so I thought there may be a draw on the battery...The dealer said that he was only seeing about a 1.2 Miliamp draw coming from my GPS set up. At first he told me that would drain my battery in two weeks...then when he sent me home with my battery charged back up...it was dead the next day. They did all their troubleshooting and finally they said that it was another bad battery. They put the battery in a couple of days ago...I went riding today and when I got back I noticed a noise coming out of the battery...it sounds almost like its sizzling. I don't think that it should do that...It is still making the noise and the bike has been in my garage for over 3 hours now. I asked about the voltage regulator and they told me they checked it...any suggestions at this point? Thanks...Dee
19. I seen this in old threads. I know the original designer is no longer with us. Does anyone have one laying around they would like to sell or has anyone taken over production? Looks like a great way to mount a couple gauges.
20. Well we made it to WV. Great Ride till the last 50 miles or so then rain, rain and more rain. Did I say it rained the last 50 miles. Anyway weather doesn't look good for the week but we will still ride and ha ve fun. Here are a couple of pictures. The big guy wringing out his shirt is Bryan52577 from our board.
21. Yesterday, right after pulling out into traffic, I glanced down and noticed that I had no speedometer reading or odometer visible on the dash of my '03 RSMV. I reached down and wiggled the key and everything came back on. The trip home was around 120 miles and this happened a couple more times. Each time I was moving on down the road and do not know if the headlights and such were working, just that speedometer area was not. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so what can be done to fix it? Thanks! Don
22. "Drafting Guys Over 60" This is funny& obviously written by a former soldier... New Direction for any war: Send Service Vets over 60! I am over 60 and the Armed Forces thinks I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be older than 42 to join the military. They've got the whole thing bass-backwards. Instead of sending 18-year old's off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn't be able to join a military unit until you're at least 55. For starters, researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every 10 seconds. Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a day, leaving us more than 28,000 additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy. Young guys haven't lived long enough to be cranky, and a cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. 'My back hurts! I can't sleep, I'm tired and hungry.' We are impatient and maybe letting us kill somebody that desperately deserves it will make us feel better and shut us up for awhile.. An 18-year-old doesn't even like to get up before 10am. Old guys always get up early to pee, so what the hell. Besides, like I said, I'm tired and can't sleep and since I'm already up, I may as well be up killing some fanatical son-of-a-gun. If captured, we couldn't spill the beans because we'd forget where we put them. In fact, name, rank, and serial number would be a real brainteaser. Boot camp would be easier for old guys.. We're used to getting screamed and yelled at and we're used to soft food. We've also developed an appreciation for guns. We've been using them for years as an excuse to get out of the house, Away from the screaming and yelling. They could lighten up on the obstacle course however... I've been in combat and never saw a single 20-foot wall with rope hanging over the side, Nor did I ever do any pushups After completing basic training. Actually, the running part is kind of a waste of energy, too... I've never seen anyone outrun a bullet. An 18-year-old has the whole world ahead of him. He's still learning to shave, to start a conversation with a pretty girl. He still hasn't figured out that a baseball cap has a brim to shade his eyes, not the back of his head. These are all great reasons to keep our kids at home to learn a little more about life before sending them off into harm's way. Let us old guys track down those dirty rotten coward terrorists. The last thing an enemy would want to see is a couple million pissed off old buggers with attitudes and automatic weapons, Who know that their best years Are already behind them. HEY!! How about recruiting Women over 50...In menopause!!! You think MEN have attitudes?? Ohhhhhhhhhhhh my God!!! If nothing else, put them on border patrol. They'll have it secured the first night! Send this to all of your senior friends...it's in big type so they can read it.
23. Bought the MCT from a forum member in the spring...I have had the trailer out a couple of times in the last few weeks getting use to it behind the RSV before taking off for South Dakota on the 3rd......Last weekend I noticed the right tire on the trailer was low/almost flat.....Filled it up to 55lbs and this AM noticed it was flat again. These are basically NEW tires...Previous owner never used the trailer...Ran some H2O over the tire and found a small..and I mean small leak in the middle of the tread...pinhole almost...Took it to get it plugged and an inside patch..Did I say me and the wife are L leaving for South Dakota on the 3rd) Question ???...in looking a the tire I noticed that these Stock Tires are 2 ply...I am concerned that if it picked up something this easy on a couple of test drives...Should I go out and invest in some 6 ply tires?.....Can pick up a couple at Tractor Supply for about $90-$100... I do have a spare in case one of the stock tires picks something up during the trip...... Long Tall Lynchburg, VA
24. NEWTrk (Phil) my husband has been talking for a couple of years about triking out his venture and yesterday he did it. He really did it. He put down his deposit for the Hannigan trike kit and in a couple of months it will all be over with and he'll be grinning from ear to ear. Look out here he comes - next will be retirement and then 48 states in 60 days...
25. Ok the venture has a broke u-joint and the bolt holding the bottom half of the rear shock is out and caused a couple other problems. I might be back on the road in 10 days or so! Phill
