  1. Any idea where to get chrome parts for an 89? Things like the air intakes on the fairing, air vents on the side covers. Also is there a way to install a Ring of Fire on a Venture? Been told you can convert 1200 Goldwing rotor covers to make it work.
  2. Hi Guys and Gals: I found a chrome bumper with lots of lights on eBay and purchased it. So far I think it is pretty good and is cleaning up nice. I have one problem though. There are two "U" bolts that I need for installing this thing. They go around the saddle bag roll bars and hold up the front of the bumper. I believe the originals are chrome and flattened on top. Does anyone have these animals or know where I could find something like this? Wayne
  3. After several beautiful 70 deg plus days, it has decided to go back down in tbne 40's mist rain and generally be rotten. So in my broedom of this raining Sunday I thought I would review the progress made so far in the first month of Venture Ownership and take some updated pictures. First and foremost is this site!! Tons of great ideas, dramtiacally shortened the learning curve on ins and outs of my new bike, plus nmade some great new friends! Also I have started down the path of spending tons of money on accessories just for the fun of it, thank god I have a wife that thinks like me Anyway here is what I came up with and some updated pics, nothing fancy but I am having SOME fun:sign woo hoo: Updates so far......... Carb Sync Rear Hub Assembly Re-greased and Shimmed Change over to Synthetic Oils Yamaha Chrome Choke Knob Baron's Nasty Boys 4-2-4 Pipes Baron's Extreme Slash Tips Yamaha Passing Lamps Yamaha Light Visors all around Yamaha Chrome Oil Fill Plug Yamaha Chrome Star Trunk Rack Yamaha Star Billet License Plate Frame AIS Plugged R-Mark Quick Saddlebag Removal System Here are some pics, also one of Deb's bike taken last weekend with her winter add on's down by the river. As I have said I'm a lucky man to have a wife that understands the passion. http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/Rebel%20XTI/Venture/leftsidedistance.jpg http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/Rebel%20XTI/Venture/pipes.jpg http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/Rebel%20XTI/Venture/rightside.jpg http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/Rebel%20XTI/Venture/Reardownhill.jpg http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/Rebel%20XTI/Venture/debs.jpg Anyway, hope I haven't bored ya to bad, soemthing to do on a rainy Sunday!
  4. Can anybody point me in the right direction to find a chrome front wheel for my 2006 RSTD? I sent mine off to be chromed and it seems to have been lost ???????? Or so I am told. In the mean time I am in search of a place that sells the wheels already chromed and would sell me one without doing an exchange. Or does anybody maybe have a front wheel for sale that I could buy and have chromed. Thanks, Jerry
  5. There is a small heat shield on my exhaust by my right footpeg. It had cracked and been fixed by a PO, but it is cracking again now. The shield seems to be part of the larger exhaust, and so not easily replaceable. Given that it is chrome, is this something that can be welded back together, or is it a soldering job, or is there some other fix like JB weld that might hold this together. Thankfully, it isn't highly visible, since getting that chrome look back may not be easy either.
  6. I did the stebel horn upgrade, Thanks to all the help on this site it went great, also Thanks to Larry, his bracket is perfect for the job fits and looks great!! I removed the chrome cover from the rear as recommended and put a big dab of clear silicone on the top of the unit and stuck that cover rite on top, it looks great, also siliconed the side chrome cover on, my question, do you guys use some kind of covering over the wires, like a rub guard, to keep the insulation from wearing off? or is that overkill, also the connections seem dangerously close to the tail pipe, is that going to cause a problem? I have visions of those air-horns going off because of a short somewhere, and not being able to shut them off. Thanks Craig
  7. As mentioned in the subject line.... My nice chrome mufflers on my 84 Venture got extremely hot awhile back and the chrome got a blue tint to it. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, how do you get the blue off the chrome and restore it to the bright chrome finish?
  8. Hello Everyone, This is going to be a dumb ?. I just rec`d my K&N Filters and chrome covers. Do the lowers have to come off? Also what holds the chrome piece on? The black cover does not go back on. Told you this was dumb. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance :confused24::confused24::confused24:
  9. So far I have learned to use pledge for "waxing, polishing" to save time, I will try that one.. My cruiser used to take me 1-2 hours to wash and dry, about 1-2 hours to wax/buff/polish, then a whopping 4 hours to do the chrome with Mothers metal polish... Wax and chrome done on separate days.. Too much work..!! 8 hours possible for a complete wash and detail..!! Now I will be washing the Venture, and drying it with my LEAF BLOWER....this works amazingly well (total time 30 min). Then I will try the pledge trick for all surfaces, guessing at 30 min's for this.. So my new total time for a complete wash and detail will be 1 hr...Can't wait for spring to try this now...
  10. I just picked up the 02 midnight venture i won on ebay. I am going to be needing couple of things 1 The chrome ring around the headlight And 2 The chrome whatchamacalit on the top of the fairing that covers the windshield bolts. I also could use the front outer fairing but I think I can fix mine so not as important If any one has either of these laying around let me know what you want for them. I also have a question I live at an altitude of 6500 feet, and when I rev the bike and let off I get a popping from the stock mufflers, do yall think I will need to get the carbs rejetted? Thanks guys, I have been reading this forum for a while and will soon be following some of the advice I have seen here.
  11. Santa wuz good to me! I got these fuel tank mount covers in Chrome as well as these lower air vents! Angel gets dressed up some more! Chrome is always a good choice! Merry Christmas!
  12. Thinking of ordering Yamaha Chrome from ncyyamaha.com. Anybody ever order from them?
  13. I'm looking for chrome front disc brake covers for my 2007 RSV just like the ones on the bike, but chromed instead of polished. I know Yamaha made some back in the old Royal Star days. I haven't ran accross any yet. I could have the ones on the bike removed and chrome, but I don't want the hassle. Any help?
  14. I stumbled across a chrome set of side covers in the J&P catolgue for $130 ... half the cost from the local gouger. Gonna be a late xmas present methinks, but I have yet to find a set of chrome rails for the saddlebags, other than from Yammie at $275. I've seen OEM's on Ebay, but with the shipping and the never knowing what the duty will be, I have not bothered. Has anyone else seen them from other manufacturers maybe? And does the set for the Royal Star (comes to a point at the front) fit the Venture too? Thanks and merry christmas all.
  15. More chrome! Has anyone tried these things? How does light shine through chrome? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-V-Max-Road-Star-VStar-650-1100-CHROME-LENSES_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35580QQihZ011QQitemZ320198418772QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  16. Of new CHROME parts for the VENTURE. So far I have CHROME mirrors and CHROME clutch/brake lever. Found quite a few parts for handle controls for the 1100's/1600/1700 YAMAHAS but the VENTURE gets kinda sparse. Any other you all come up with. Would love some new rims but can not find them............Ron
  17. Does anybody know the part # for the trunk lite that replaces the reflector on the back of the trunk????Big bike parts had them, but since they changed their website, they can't seem to locate them without a part #.. I know Show Chrome doesn't make them anymore,so I think this was the only place that had them.. Thanks
  18. i am looking for 1 new chrome eyebrow does anyone have one Bill
  19. Anybody over buy St. Paul and Minneapolis, MN. know of anyplace that does chrome plating? I found some chrome for my first gen but some of the stuff has some pitting and a couple small scrapes on them. Don't want no ugly chrome on my bike.
  20. Anyone familiar with Kuryakyn know what the heck these cotton pickin' things are called. I've been all over the site and I guess I'm not looking in the right place. 'Cause I can't find them??? Figured a member that's into chrome might know. Or maybe it's not Kuryakyn??? The first pic is the footpeg assembly, and the last couple are a top and bottom shot of the spacer that I'm trying to find a listing and price for??
  21. Now,only if the RSV's had the Harley's Deep Lustre Chrome ... The Venture would look gorgeous But till than the Venture is just BLAH
  22. I'm getting ready to mount a set of pegs I've had on a newer set of crash bars. Does anyone know a way to keep from buggering up the chrome from a previous position when first getting them setup and adjusted? And why is the chrome on the K pegs checking and flaking after only a few months of use? That's a little disappointing. They cost more than that.

  24. Wife and I headed over to the local Indian Casino over the weekend to play some Bingo (shoulda stayed home and mailed them a check - so much for "cheap entertainment"). Anyway - parked next to a Millenium Edition RSV - white/tan with tan seats - a BEAUTIFUL color combination. anyway - built in to the chrome tank "cover" - on either side of the key were a couple gauges. Tach & water temp. i'd LOVE to add these to my 07. Anyone know if this was a special feater of that edition or are they available????
  25. What a guy ...Took time of his busy schedule and got me a Chrome licence plate Thanks again
