okay group i want to add another person to our committee. first i will tell you the pay stinks and it will be a voluntary thing. i need some one to put all the videos and pictures together that people take and donate to the cause on a dvd to music and edit them with some professionalism so we can make them available to the members that want to savor the memories of the meet. if you are artistic and good in this field let me know. i know alot of folks will be taking videos, and pictures. your cost to make the dvd's will be covered. when the members order them. do i have any volunteers? remember they have to be top of the line and the music has to fit the video. i know i'm being awful picky but. if you are familiar with the ones floyd made of previous meets you would understand why they need to be good. his were top of the line. bill

just got back from pro bass. great spur of the moment meet and eat, and boy did we eat. got part of the 2009 committee there and have a few new ideas and got some samples of rosebuds name badges they are awesome. great job rosebud. colesgrandpaw is working on a special project concerning the different things to see and maps to get there for people who want to take off in groups and sight see. i'm going to try to find some one to make up a dvd of the whole meet and put to music so every one can have a record of it. like the first eureka springs meet. where you at floyd. rode 470 mi. round trip and sitting here typing and enjoying a few beers. all in all a great day. thanks to all who attended. had a great time. bill :clap2:

bummer, we were planning a big surprise party for you, and had a special attendance prize, and dedicated a statue to eureka springs on your behalf that you were supposed to make a speech over. not to mention the new venture we all pitched in for and bought you. what am i gonna do with all this crap. have a good time at the races. your good buddy bill.

i started out with the venture luggage rack off ebay with a cheap trunk. then decided to get a venture trunk. i bought it in pieces off ebay and bought all new hardware. took a year to gather all the parts. $1400.00 later i had a nice used trunk. i would say new with rack over $2000.00. would i do it again? not if i new what it was going to cost. may want to think about trading for a venture. the holes are there for the rack. i think one on each side had to be inlarged and a metric nut tack welded on the back side of the rail cuz you can't get back there to hold it with a wrench. no matter what trunk you use make sure it has a back rest and use the venture luggage rack. sell the oem rstd back rest, they go high on ebay and are butt ugly. you won't need it anymore any way. what ever you do, do it right and don't jury rig it to save money. you don't want to ruin the looks of a nice bike. bill

no doubt about it the wing sets the standard for a touring bike by a long shot. can't see how you could possibly top it. the motor is what it's all about. electric motor smoothness and power out of this world from idle on up. i would have to put the venture 2nd on the top touring bike list. would be hard to beat either one.

hey folks, for all of you that are planning on, or thinking about attending the 2009 arkansas international rally. check out cindys poll and drop her your vote. we need to get a rough idea of the no. of attendees that we can expect so we can figure the tshirts, food, and some of the other neat things we have planned. this is going to be a really big event, and we need to have an idea how big. the final meal is going to be catered by the hub restaurant. and we need to get some kind of estimate to them. i know it's early yet but we have an awful lot of things to plan out so your help will be appreciated. thanks, snarley bill

scott, i always wondered where you would buy a set of bag pipes, and is there regular music for them that you play off of ? bill:)

i put a venture trunk on my rstd. it is a very expensive venture if you don't have a trunk. you will need the complete trunk and luggage rack off a venture. the rstd fender rails are almost the same but the mounting holes need a slight modification to bolt them on. heres a picture of mine. bill

been having a lot of trouble hearing audio. due to outside noise and being hard of hearing. spent a fortune on helmet speakers amps, etc. finally found a cheap solution. got the premium sound on my wing and it is fine with the speakers until you hit wind. i bought the edsets, much better til you hit wind. went to radio shack and bought a set of sony earbuds. on sale for $29.95. then bought a 5 pin to 3.5 mm single pin adapter from cycle gadgets, and now have concert hall sound and sealed out road noise. my sirius radio has a whole new meaning. all i can say is awesome, try it if you are hearing impaired. bill

these v-4's have a tendency to still run fairly smooth even if you lose 1 cyl., if it is the right one in the timing order. once you get off the primary circuit at about 1/3 throttle it will run great cuz you are on the main jet. as old as your bike is i would say clean the carbs and get it over with. unless you have a set of micro drills just replace all the pilot jets while you have it apart. they are cheap. been working with carbs for 40 years and can pretty well diagnose the problem. bill

oil pressure is a much more important reading than how much oil you have. you can have your light on and still have good oil pressure. when that oil pressure goes to zero. you need a motor. it is not very likely but the lubrication system can fail causing loss of oil pressure even though you still have plenty of oil. could happen and does on rare occasions. the oil pessure gauge buys me piece of mind. thats why it is one of the first things i put on a bike. cheap insurance, although not always easy to install. like i said you can tell by the drop in oil pressure when your engine is getting totally warmed up. bill

this is a very common occuance on all carburated bikes. what happens is sediment in the float bowl stirs up and will get into the pilot jet in one or more of the carbs and clog it. on a venture the hole is only around .014 " this clogs the idle circuit on that cyl.. your probably hitting on 3 cylinders.which is causing the slow idle. like i said it is very very common. same thing happens when you let one sit to long with gas in the carbs.except in that case varnish accumulates and clogs the pilot jet. you might try some gumout, but i think your in for a little carb cleaning. bill

if you want to put a gauge on heres how you do it. take the big round plug out below the waterpump. this is the main oil gallery that feeds the main bearings.this it the most important area to read oil pessure. it is an an aluminum plug. you can drill it and tap it using an 1/8 npt tap. now the fittings for most any oil pressure gauge will fit. you will need a 100 psi gauge. like redneck said cold idle pressure can excede 80 psi. you can use a mechanical gauge with plastic tubing and go direct from the plug to the gauge, which i did on my v-max and rstd, or you can do it with an electric sending unit like redneck did. rednecks set up is the neatest. both are accurate. like brad said idle pressure is low. mine was about 5lb. hot which is addequate at idle. it held about 25 lb. hot at most riding speeds. i hate the oil level idiot light. it means absolutly nothing. i want to know what my oil pressure is and you can use it as a temp gauge to tell when the engine oil has warmed up enough to run the hell out of it. i prefer autometer gauges with the good looking chrome mounting cup. if your the paranoid type skip the gauge and use the light. my light never came on on any of my yamahas. my wing and zx-14 both have oil pressure idiot lights and they both now have gauges. big improvement. bill
