sorry guys, did'nt think this thread was going to go political or i would'nt have started it. i was just commenting on the high tech complexity of it. i just thought it was awesome no matter what country would have done it. bill -
well switch, it was just one of those things. everyone lets off steam once in awhile. if i remember right hipshot and me had a little sportbike tussle along time ago. at least i think it was him ,and now i think the world of him. even though i never met him in person. now that we aired our differences i hope we can be freinds. that is what this site is all about. besides , i plan on meeting you all face to face at next years international rally, and i ain't that big. bill

just sitting here watching the ceremonies, while i'm typing. how do you top this? strictly genious. what an extravaganza. reminds me of a modern version of the great ziegfeld multiplied by 1000. impressed me. bill

just hope the next time around is as good as this one was. i've been awful lucky, and every day my feet hit the floor i think i won the lottery, to be here instead of all the other places in the world i could have been born. even rainy days are important to me. i just live like theres no tomorrow cuz one day there won't be.

ya know i was out riding my wing today and i thought how do you top this bike. guys on the wing site are chompin at the bit waiting for the new improved wing in 2010. i posted over there the only improvements i could see to better the bike was a couple of power ports standard, the comfort package standard, and a little softer front suspension. they want a bigger motor, six speeds, etc. i think all of those things are just perfect the way they are. oh yes one other thing wish i could direct all that engine heat at me in the winter months. what a waste. bill

i am really trying to not let that ornery old fart trait rub off on me i just go there for the tech stuff. boy, you think we have controversy on this site. they thrive on it over there. will say them old farts know their wings.

if i offended anyone on the florida law thread i apologize. there are just a couple of things that rub me the wrong way and coming down on sport bikes happens to be one of them. i will try to control myself in the future. further more i will garantee you i ain't no timid wallflower, just ask my wife. she will verify what a pain in the butt i am in real life. bill

russel, since it's a shaft drive the axle can't move so i would say those figures are right on. i had a 1400 but can't find my shop manual. must have let it go with the bike. bill

i,ve been building fast bikes and race engines all my life, and i don't owe anyone any apolgies for it. i haven't had a ticket on a bike since i was 21 years old cuz i don't do stupid things on my high horsepower bikes. i don't pull wheelies in traffic, i don't drag race on the street and you sure ain't never going to impound my bike. and neither is anyone else. i have fast bikes cuz i can, one of the benefits of living in this free country, and it's what i like. if you don't like it thats your right, and it's my right to have a lousy lowdown 200 hp. crotch rocket. the only thing illegal about it is the gp exaust. and i have heard ventures with louder exaust. so if you don't like me and my crappy crotch rocket thats your right. i really don't care. i sure ain't going to sell it on your behalf. i'm almost 66 yr's old and your right, i'm not grown up and never will .i don't have that rule book that says you have to quit living just cuz your old. don,t think the word is timid wallflower. i would say i am a fairly nice guy that is very polite, and treats my fellow man as i want to be treated. ask anyone on here that has met me. i don't claim to be a bad ass, but i don't back down from anyone , and i don't kiss anyones butt to like me, or what i have. bill

i've got an excuse for pulling a wheely. i have 200+ horsepower and i love every inch the front wheel will come off the ground. of course i'm not perfect. snarley bill

i know what the law says. the people on here are the ones that p.o. me. always putting down sport bikes and all sport bike riders. because of a handful that have no sense. theres a handful that ride all kinds of bikes that have no sense. there always has been a law against wheelies and taking corners to fast in all states and i am for them 100%. it's called careless and impudent driving. maybe if the cops would do a little more inforcing of those laws. and get out of the parking lots talking to each other, and dunkin donuts i would feel a little safer on my bike. i would'nt feel so threatened when i ride my bike. there are alot of good cops out there that do a great job. but there are also a lot of derelects. i see it all the time. and i'm a little tired of it. why can't i ever go on a nice ride without worrying about some idiot running over me. getting a little tired of having to put up with ignorance. i cherish the day i can go for a worry free ride. been riding for 50 ultra dangerous years and i'm fed up with it. snarley bill

your alright. glad to see there are a few that try not to be hippocritical. this is one of my pet peeves. always putting the blame on some one else and not being to take responsibility for your own actions. i know when i push a bike to the limit, i am breaking the law and if caught i have no bi#$*. i am no better than than the kids that do stupid stuff on sport bike. i'm breaking the law and doing something really stupid. i have ridden with alot of the people on this site and have broke many laws at many meets along with them. stupid yes, fun yes, but i have the balls to admit it. my take is before you point fingers look in your own files. i do. thats why i never point fingers. sure these kids are stupid, you know who i blame? there parents, for not teaching them right from wrong. i think i grew up to be a pretty good and fair thinking person cuz my parents made sure i new the difference between right and wrong, and if i get caught doing wrong i'm ready to pay the piper. bill

kind of sounds like your not sure what side your on. if the law does'nt benefit you it stinks. if the law has no effect on you you don't care. well i ride a sport bike and i think the law stinks. and anyone who has something against a sportbike has some kind of a hang up. sounds to me like if i don't ride what everyone thinks i ought to ride i have no rights, just cuz there is a few out there that make it bad for me. i see alot of cruiser, touring and harley riders that aren't worth 2 hoots in hell ,but i'm not for passing anti bike laws on those particular bikes. guess i'm going to go take be perfect lessons. nuff said for i lose my temper, and really say what i think. snarley bill

i respect your opinion, and i seldom ever or should i say almost never break the law in my car. i very seldom break the law on my bikes. i am human and get the urge now and then, for a little excitment. anyone who says they never break the law, is either full of crap or one of the very few human beings that is perfect. seems like there must be a whole bunch of them around i don't know about. maybe there hiding somewhere. it's all about tunnel vision and looking in a mirror. by the way i have a tremendous amount of respect for the police. every time i drive my truck or ride my bike i wish i was one. i would reach my monthly qouta everyday of the week. bill

i was planning for a long time to have one of the new maxes for my last bike build but bought my zx14 instead. just could'nt wait. the new max has lots of possibilities. who know's, i may have to have one but i doubt it. there comes a time when you realize your not as young as you once were. i wanted to take my 14 and run it at the texas mile next year but after riding it with the mods i have i just can't do that stuff anymore. lost my nerve. my next set of wheels will probably be a turbo charged 650 bergman with nitrous. bill

okay folks good controversy is right up my alley. how many of us have gone into a 30 mile per hour curve at some what over the speed limit and drug a board or peg. i drug my toe on my wing this morning. it happens at every venturerider meet i've been to. i have rode so fast following ventureriders through curves, that my royalstar came out of it in a bad wallow dragging the boards. before we get carried away with the tunnelvision lets take a look at ourselves. you know the saying, people who live in glass houses should'nt throw stones. my zx14 will do wheelies over a hundred miles an hour and if i want to do one i will ,right or wrong. just like some of the curves i was cutting this morning on my wing 20 to 30 over the speed limit. i don't claim to be perfect. i see a heck of alot more laws being broken by cagers than sport bike riders. i happen to have alot of respect for alot of the sport bike riders. i wish i was half as skilled as they are. it's like any thing you have good bikers and you have wanna be's that haven't got enough sense to come in out of the rain. bill

sure glad i don't live in florida my front wheel kind of has a mind of it's own. has this terrible hankerin to search for the sky. guess i would'nt mind that law here if they would nail everyone for a thousand dollars that has a cellphone stuck in there ear. like the ahole that almost side swiped me yesterday. snarley bill

brad, i am going to try to have a 50/50 drawing at the eureka springs meet, for st. judes. if it works out i will send you the proceeds we get. depends on how many people we have there. should be plenty for the drawing. bill

i would get a new tire. go with avon venoms with the narrow front tire. if you don't buy the tire from the dealer they may not mount it or charge you double to do it. i mount my own tires and buy them on line. the venoms with the narrow front tire will make it feel like a totally different bike, mostly at parking lot speeds. bill

from what i saw at the baca meeting i went to, they do everything legally and are not violent. they just make their presence felt and make life uncomfortable for the abuser. with the publicity they bring down on the individual. they make sure everyone knows about the abuser. bill
