  1. i have a rsv trunk on my 05 rstd.very expensive. used plastic, and luggage rack, off ebay, new hardware ,cost total was around $1400,00 .complete trunks are few and far between .saw one on ebay and it went over seven hundred dollars.for what all you want to add you could probably trade for a new rsv.i prefer my rstd because i did'nt want the audio, and i like the removeable windshield for easy cleaning and maintenance.i have a sirrius radio on mine with helmet speakers.bill
  2. as allan said i adapted the road sofa to my rstd.rode straight through from vogel to st.louis 600 mi with no pain.previous limit was about 200 miles.i think they make one to fit an rstd now.i have a ruptured lower disc and pinched siatic nerve and it hardly bothers me when riding now.bill
  3. i bought mine from mcmastercarr.right at $45.00. bill
  4. forgot to tell you you don't wan't the ones with the converter.i think only one side has the converter and this would cause an imballance in you exaust.you don't have a crossover pipe like harley does.bill
  5. the roadkings will fit an rstd and i had a utopia backrest on m rstd and it fit well.check with diamond- r too.bill
  6. 4 times, hmm' you sure you ain't tippin the bottle when your on that bike.bill :rotf: :no-no-no:
  7. maybe chrome underwear. :rotf: :rotf:
  8. i ain't even gonna touch this one.only eck would have butt cheek problems. :rotf: :rotfl: :rotf:
  9. al i think you are misinformed on your clutch problem, and synthetic oil.standard petroleum base oil is'nt even close to a good synthetic in overall performance.synthetic has nothing at all to do with clutch slippage whatsoever.you just flat have a bad clutch or clutch springs.stick with the synthetic and get a new clutch.this should solve your problem.bill
  10. thanks guys, never dreamed i had that much juice available.bill
  11. goose your a turn coat. .let us know the results .always room for new tech.bill :rotf: :rotfl:
  12. wanting to get a heated jacket and gloves.how much wattage will the 2nd gen. stater produce? bill
  13. i can tell you the main difference between amsoil and mobile1 ,amsoil is a real full synthetic and mobile1 uses dino base oil.it gets away with being called a full synthetic because it meets the full synthetic sae criteria.this happened in a law suit brought on by mobile several years back against castrol for selling a full synthetic oil that was not synthetic.mobile lost .the court ruled that as long as it met synthetic standards it could be advertised as such.now most synthetics use grade three base oil which is ultra premium base oil with very little pariffin and contamination.bill
  14. no more rev limiter for me .i got a dyna 3000.bill
  15. i feel exactly the same way our little long haired dachshund is just two years old.and we are paranoid about him.bill
  16. that breaks my heart.our dog is like our kid.i guard him with my life.we have lost several dogs over time and they were like our kids, because we never had kids.we love animals and share your agony.so sorry for you .bill and linda.
  17. i've got an rstd thats been venturized.added alot of weight a little at a time.actually it felt heavier. when i bought it getting used to it i guess.in fact when i loaded it down to go to vogel i could'nt feel a noticable difference.if it's lighter weight your looking for i don't think there it more than forty lbs. difference in the two.bill:2133:
  18. i would say the shape of the fairing is pretty much limited, because of the fork mount.the venture fairing is the best looking in my opinion but yuor talking lots of money.
  19. just curious what did you find superior about amsoil over mobile1? bill
  20. don ,nothing wrong with motorcycle specific mobile1 it's top notch oil.i just prefer the automotive because of the extra anti wear additives.in all reality if someone ran plain old petroleum base oil and changed oil and filter regularly, the bike would probably last forever.what it comes down to is, it's what ever gives us peace of mind.bill
  21. another thing i tried, was last time i changed oil in my 1100 v-star.i thought i would try walmart synthetic because it was $12.00 for five quarts.it is energy conserving like mobile1 automotive.i lost 2 mpg. consistenly.i attribute it to having less moly than mobil1.moly is a very expensive additive and mobile1 automotive has more than most all other oils.it is one of the top rated oils on the market.clutch slippage could be a factor on a well used high mileage clutch that is already surface hardened from heat and abuse.but on clutches that are in good condition i have had no problems. just some of my observations.bill :)
  22. james ,i'm kind of with you on the tunes thing, although i am putting a satilite radio on my rstd, with helmet speakers.and compact pre-amp.hope i like it.bill
  23. i will address the wet clutch .i run mobile one automotive in my 05rstd,02 rs warrior with speedstar upgrade ,and 04 v-star 1100, from the first oil change.never had a clutch slippage issue on any of them.ran castrol syntec automotive. in my all out race.gs 1100 suzuki, and hopped up v-max and never had a clutch problem with them.i use mobile one because it is loaded with molydenum disulfide.slickest anti wear additive there is.great for preventing wear on gears.it's what they use in camshaft breakin lube to prevent lobe gaulling on new cams.done lots of research on this over the years because i am very picky about engine wear when i build race motors.bill
  24. looks like the super tech may be a little longer also,i've been using k&n filters $11.00 a whack.going to switch to the super tech.bill
  25. this is great info .there are so many wives tales out there about oil and filters.which surprises me with the info available on the net.like the clutch slippage issue, and friction modifiers.won't go into that one.i have done research on oil for the last forty years.and until recently it was one of the best kept secrets.now there is vast info available on oil and filters.get out there and read it.don't listen to just anybody that forms an uneducated opinion.bill
