  1. charley would be dangerous on a schwinn.:rotf::rotfl:
  2. i know where your coming from jim.after the arkansas meet i'm thinking about a lighter bike because of my knees.maybe you should try a v-star,so you can hang with us.bill
  3. chuck, glad your okay.nail the broad to the wall.tired of these people in cars running over bikers.don't matter how old they are or what excuse they have ,they need to lose there license if they're to old to drive, or get their head out of their butt, and the phone out of their ear.
  4. if all goes well ,i will be there.bill
  5. thats the one i have on mine,it works great.don't forget on the rstd ,if you don't have a radio you will need a preamp.to power headphones or speakers.
  6. i cut mine 2 1/2 inches.it is just right .i can see over the top sitting normally.i am 5 '10''. 4'' is way to short unless your alot shorter than me.the wind goes right over the top of my helmet.
  7. allan this is totally devistating news. i am sitting here with tears in my eyes along with linda.if there is anything you need please don't hesitate to call us.our prayers are with you . bill and linda
  8. i've got a millermatic 185 and it does an awesome job.as brad said ,upside down welding is a little rough and tight places are often hard to get to because you can't get close enough to keep the weld covered with the shielding gas.the only thing i use my stick welder for anymore is in the wind and places i can't get real clean.
  9. i just go out and talk to my bike .the hot air dries it. :rotf:
  10. sounds like a great idea.should be able to have plenty of pessure,it don't take all that much.sounds like a job for eck to work on.
  11. great advise from all you guys.thats definately the way to break an engine in properly for longevity.just want to add keep the revs up and don't lug the engine.also use good oil and filters.
  12. like don, i'm running the 7200 rev limit and curve 3,but also have richened the pilot circuit quite a bit, running k&n filters, and baron nasty boys with modified baffles for more low end.ive hit the limiter and it's still pulling strong.i think it comes close to pulling the front wheel in a low gear roll on.gets awful light in the front end.the modified baffles and drilled out pilot jets really made a difference in low end torque.i think if the main jets were about .003 bigger i could pick up another 5 hp on the top end.did'nt have the right size drill bit for the mains when i drilled out the pilot jets.still get mileage in the low to mid forties all the time.some day i will pull the carbs and play with the main jets.
  13. go to autozone and get a plastic bottle of disc brake caliper lube.it is a high temp ultra slick and sticky lube containing all the best stuff such as molydenum disulfide ,ptf, and grafite.best you can get for splines.won't sling off comes with a brush and will last you a lifetime.runs about $10.00 a bottle.way cheaper than the honda stuff.made to lube the disc brake caliper pins on cars ,which is a very high temp application that is exposed to all the elements.
  14. no copy rights or pictures.not real good at down loading pictures.i will figure that out someday if i ever get time.sorry about that.
  15. i agree the avons are the way to go.got them on my rstd.handling improved alot.a wide rear tire causes heavy counter steering in the curves.i know i ruined the sport bike handling on my warrior with the edition of a 240 rear tire.
  16. i made a pair for mine and they work great.was thinking about manufacturing them to fit royal stars and harleys, but i'm to old to start another business.i leave them on year round but they will come off in about 5 min..
  17. there are some complete venture tour packs and luggage racks on ebay right now.thats what i put on my 05 rstd.looks just like a venture, and easy to mount.almost a bolt on.just remember if you want a complete venture tour pack the new cost is close to $2000.00 with the rack.so if you get the set up off ebay for even half that complete it is a bargain.used ones complete are very rare.
  18. most grease is soap base .thats what they use to make it thick.the new high moly base greases may use some other chemical to make them thick.i would look for a good moly base grease for the splines.i use moly brake caliper grease from auto zone.it contains moly, ptf, and grafite.it is high temp and won't sling off.it has a brush to apply it and is ultra pasty.bill
  19. you have the dreaded chirp.join the crowd and ride it all you want.won't hurt a thing.
  20. my 05 rstd has no vibration anywhere.i have 14,000 miles on it, no problems.
  21. just took a set of kuryakyn grips off my warrior.don't really like them.too fat.anyway when you get them they come with a throttle sleeve already installed.don't use the kuyakyn glue.you will never get the left grip off without ruining it.i ruined mine.use paint thinner inside the left grip to slide it on on and work fast.don't use lacquer thinner.you can also use dishwashing detergent and water.i've removed alot of grips over the years and never had a problem ,but the kuryakyns were a bear.the end of the grip has a plate with 4 hexhead screws.you may be able to use your stock weights if you remove this.,not sure.
  22. i'm 5'9 and cut 2 1/2 inches off. it is just perfect height now.bill
  23. if anyone comes up with a company to make a high output stator, count me in.i think the carb heaters are needed. gas mileage would probably suffer dramatically in cooler weather.i just put grip warmers on mine and ran the battery down running a short test on them.i hooked my charger up to the heaters to check the current draw and they drew 3.5 on high and 3.1 on low.haven't tried them with the engine on .wanted to ride and make sure my battery was charging properly. the charging system is definately not adequate.
  24. it's (st7317) for the 2nd gen.
  25. you guys just can't leave nothing alone .got to make more work for the rest of us. :rotf: :rotfl: :rotf:
