  1. Good to know. Because I "Do" have a leak. Since my dad put the hc stator in cover on and everything without me. She leaks
  2. I plan on using permatex to seal the stator cover up along with using a new stator cover gasket, and I need to make sure those rubber peices where the wires run through are also sealed good. What kind of Permatex should I be using? Theres like... all these flavors!
  3. Its hard for me to speak of the hallowness. To see a beautiful bike torn asunder like that hurts. Glad you made it out intact enough to be put back together.
  4. Funny enough guys, click that link, and scroll allll the way down, look who he links to?
  5. I'm not holding any faith then on getting these suckers warrantied in a fast, and expedited manner then... what kind of tires do you guys recommend for replacements? I know we've had Dunlop 404s, and Dunlop Elite 3s on the Venture.
  6. Anyone warranty their avons? Tires bought last year, Venom X tires, premature cracking on both tires. Rear has one crack at the tread that looks deep and appears to be leaking air slowly.
  7. Wow, I'll be in Redding soon, wish I'm taking the Venture, be great to see the results of real gas again!
  8. Yea, forums were the OG social sites man I may be a youngin' but I know that for fact! I've got facebook for updates on what hells going on, random things. Having a phone to post to it is quick. Same with twitter. Got google+ but haven't been there since they started. I use FaceBook to connect with our more Techy Riders in the Legion, and Veterans, primarily, my main social site is my phone.
  9. Yamaha V-Star 650 engine. Its not the 1100, as there's actually slightly less oil filter access on the right side.
  10. man... more mileage problems for me?!
  11. Hearts and Prayers to Curt's Family. It hurts to know that Mother Nature can be cruel to us riders. As can Father Asphalt.
  12. Hot. Evil. Cooked my arms--and face--pretty good this week painting, and helping assemble some corn boxing machines.
  13. Going to be looking it to attempting this. Got some cracks in the upper body work, and the lower body work. All I remember is put the broken peices together, clean with a alcohol or acetone if I remember right. Dremel the crack good, scrub, and clean again, then start welding the plastic in, make sure both areas are nice and hot to promote adhesion. Let set, and cure, repeat otherside. When all is done, it can be sanded, primed, and painted. Just afraid such thin plastic, theres just not enough. That HF looks like the more expensive hot air plastic welder than what we got. You can also use the hotweld gun, like soldering, that works too.
  14. yea, the float valve tubes that you use to check the float level. Darn. Oh well.
  15. Replaceable? Repairable? Carb #4 on the Lady lost her's a long while ago, we tired copper tubing and jb and that failed. Any solutions?
  16. never needed to jack mine up yet but overall, mine with Venom X tires, pretty accurate, this is comparing from departure from my work, to home, using the route Google Maps dictated But I'd hazard there's a 1, or 2 mile discrepancy. I will point out something lovely... in my area... I seem to be the only Venture rider, everyone else owning a Venture, drives a cage to work.
  17. I don't buy tires at motorcycle superstore. everything else tho after comparing with motorcyclegear.com Always had good things to say about them
  18. Its funny. I go around to Napa, Autozone, and O'Rieley AutoParts... and no one has the K&N HP1005... 1004 and 1006, but NOT 1005, SPECIAL ORDER. Lovely, none the less Amazon has come thru, for 11.92, its coming this Saturday (Prime shipping) so this Saturday, I'll be doing a oil change, oil filter swap, spark plug swap, and maybe if I man up. A check of my diaphragms; I'll go with just... doing the on bike carb cleaner trick. Its mostly a lot of hope, the sliders, and diaphragms, I can't do anything with if they're busted, and I'm guessing the sliders are fine--the bike starts, and go its whole tank just fine--but the sliders are injured... and noticable scaring was evident on them when we had the carbs off for checkage during the whole three month snafu, and actually don't slide as GRACEFULLY as they should... so new sliders, new diaphragms hopefully next month, or the month after. Though I will point out, the diaphragms were actually FINE then. So hmmm. Though anyone got any info if I could use OTHER slides than the ones that come with the diaphragms on Ebay (VMAX slides)? some sliders are shiny metal........ So thats the plan..... now all I need to do is fine a nice size rubbermaid bowl for top ramen with sliced sausage this saturday while I work. but none the less... WHY IS THE K&N HP1005 A SPECIAL ORDER?!?!?!?!?! Oooh, should I stick with the NGK spark plugs, the DPR8EA-9 NGK is what I got in my memopad for spark plugs (and X24EPR-U9?) Oil if anyone asks, was thinking of 15w40, 50/50 blend from our local motorcycle dealer. --And if anyone wonders, K&N HP1005 is the screw on oil filter that fits on the Rivco Screw on Oil Filter Adapter. Took me a hour to find that... I think I use a jump from a NAPA number... or was it FRAM?
  19. You might as well get a lawyer to boot... something fishy is going on, telling you to buy that Wing they do not own, that someone else is making payments on...........
  20. Didn't have any problems with altitude with the Lady, even when I rode it to the mountains roughly 1 month after she sat dormant for 2 years. Was just fine. Granted, six months later, the engine grinded a hole into the clutch line and I learned what it was like to ride without being able to pull the clutch in, thank god the police were all over the other part of town!
  21. mmm... how big? working out here, we used some serious big impact wrenches that are practically redesigned jackhammers.
  22. I so want a VMAX 2012 engine on a 1st Gen Venture setup but it will probably be the same as last year.... sigh.... I like the Royal Star, but its more of a "Spiritual" successor, than a successor.
  23. hmmm. I'd of recommended something else. I've heard of Cyclo's Breakaway doing awesome things, and seeing SeaFoams Creep work good. Well, SeaFoam Creep + Torch.
  24. yep... it'll do it... The Lady's left and right terminals are damaged because of brake fluid. We didn't get the fluid on the right quick enough so it caused damaged. The left side... the "spy hole" blew out
