  1. Happy Birthday !! It was great meeting you at MD
  2. We were actually sitting on the front porch a little while ago and Eileen said "maybe we should do this twice a year"................hmmmmmmmmm Give that lady a hug !!!
  3. This being our first MD and the first time meeting the members, we were blown away by the hospitality. Don and Eileen, it takes special people to open up their home and hearts to someone they know only by a login name and make them feel like family, for that we thank you. In the few hours that I spent observing the repairs and upgrades being performed, I learned more than one could ever gleen from the manual. Kudos to you all and we are proud to be part of this family. Ric (jointventure) and Brenda (Pinkie)
  4. I use a mini regulator, not a cheater valve, but a regulator off one of my paint spray guns. Attached short piece of hose and tire chuck. Turn the regulator all the way out to zero, put in on the shock or fork and turn it up to the pressure you want then do the other side and they will be exactly the same. After I did this I use it for everything that has a need for air, no chance of over-inflating a shock or fork this way. I might try installing a schrader valve on one for out on the road. It works for me.
  5. Don't know if this would work for your project, but any kitchen installer will gladly give you the sink cut out from solid surface counter tops. It machines like wood and you can drill and tap it. I have used these for all sorts of things. Don't know about UV protection.
  6. After placing my reservation with a gentleman, who's first language was definately not English, I will not speak to anyone there except Laura. I had to re-register shortly after my first attempt. He had severly misspelled my name, gave me an invalid confirmation number and transposed numbers on my credit card. Laura cleared it up in 5 mins and quoted me the correct discounted rate. She said good thing I checked or I might not have had a room. This was back in early April, I think the whole hotel "name change" had something to do with it. Might have to buy her some Ice Cream.
  7. As others have said, when you have feet off the pegs while moving, you are not in control. And using the frt brake at slow speeds could be bad. Finding your bike's friction zone is the key to slow manuevers. In '09 I returned to riding after 23 yrs of not being on a bike. I bought a '09 HD Iron 883 to "get my feet wet" (and my butt sore) and last summer I bought my Venture. The technique of using your rear brake and friction zone will allow you to ride any bike out there, make you a lot more confident in traffic, and make you a safer rider....which is when it becomes fun and not so much work. Have you been to any of the MSF courses?? They will help a great deal. I did, however, find out on the second day I had the Venture that the Earth's gravitational field is less forgiving for a Venture than a Sportster. But that's a story for MD.
  8. I know this is an old post, but I had to dig it up. This approach seemed to work in Mississippi and no family members had to deal with Westboro protestors, and no money out of the municipality's pockets. Check it out. http://nation.foxnews.com/culture/2011/04/21/mississippi-shows-how-you-handle-westboro-freaks Was it "right" to prevent them from making it to the funeral?? I don't care, but that is just me.
  9. I love the part about Kayaking across the Pacific Ocean
  10. Got a postcard from the local Star dealer for a test ride on an 2011 Stryker. If you take the test ride you get a pair of Oakley sunglasses. The bike only had 3 miles on it.... well I fixed that. You really shouldn't tell me to "take it all afternoon if you want", because I want. It handled really well for the amount of frt rake. More than enough power for me and I didn't have to pay for fuel. It was a good day. Except I left Brenda at the showroom alone with all that "safety chrome" around for her Classic. It would have been cheaper to stay home and just by the Oakleys online. Below is the link to the test ride offer if anyone is interested. http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/stryker_demo_promo.aspx
  11. Going on a PGR HOTH (Help On The Homefront) ride this weekend. If anyone in the area is interested. It's for a great cause and ALL proceeds benefit the vets. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=59027
  12. You can ship anything you want to the Phillipines....As long as the Certificate of Export on the ocean container states "Do Not Break Bulk" it's assumed everything inside is legit. That's easy to achieve, with enough cash, here in the States. We never seemed to have enough cash to "speed" things thru customs, so all of our containers would be delayed so the "officials" could break the seal and compare items to the manifest. That was fine with us, you can't ride a bike in a prison yard. Hopefully, the individual who signed that document will soon find that out.
  13. Hope there was some fine print about the Virgins. Like maybe 72 virgin male camels....Now that's a Party
  14. Sorry for your loss. I say that having to put down your best friend is the hardest thing I have ever dealt with. We had a 17 year old Black Lab, Sophie, that traveled around the country with us with our job, we even put it in the contracts..No dog, no deal. That was unbearable to see her go. On her last day we did everything she wanted, ate cheese, chocolate and let her drink Yeungling beer (her favorite). Took her for a long ride in her favorite truck, an old M37. We really miss her. Sophie was a rescue, someone just dumped her off in the middle of road near our house. Since then we only get dogs from shelters, and found they are the best for us. Brenda has even put her Yamaha V-Star 650 classic to good use in helping shelter animals. And I'm very proud of her efforts. http://nationaldogweekbook.wordpress.com/2011/05/01/covers-for-critters-covers-a-lot-of-ground-and-keeps-shelter-pets-warm/ No, they are not "Just Dogs" to us.
  15. I wouldn't risk jail for Lemon Chiffon?? Moose Tracks or Rocky Road maybe, but Lemon Chiffon??
  16. I bumped into a rider at a rest stop that had one of these. He said they work well because of no folding. I have never tried it, can't say for sure whether or not it works. http://www.skyroll.com/for-motorcycles/
  17. Can't wait to see some vids from it. I may have to upgrade from the GoPro, it doesn't have a viewing screen, so you just hope you got the shot.
  18. Well Jonas, that seemed to work. My phone paired to both the G4s, however, you still can only have one headset conversing on the phone at a time. Hope this helps.
  19. A mount for an EZ Pass ??? Aw come on...your killin' us.
  20. I purchased a Cardo Scala Rider G4 Powerset and installed one my Nolan 3/4 helmet and the other headset in Brenda's Hawk full face modular. The install was easy on both and the speakers are thin and easy to position at your ears. Sound quality was very good both on the phone and intercom. Pairing with our phones and other items was super easy. Now I don't know about pairing both headsets to one phone as we have separate phones. If someone else doesn't chime in, I'll try it and repost the outcome. I do know that the phone will override the intercom in the pecking order of functions, so only one of you will be able to talk on the phone at a time. We had no intercom connection issues on the road at distances of about 500 yards, but haven't tried them at the stated 1mile range. If we get separated that much, we just use the phone function. (the reason for two phones). It sounds like you will be riding 2up so that distance won't matter. The only time we lost intercom was going thru a small town in front of the county courthouse and police barracks??? Just touched the intercom button and got reconnected in about 50 yards. I won't say that this is the best, because this thread would go on for years, just look at the best tire and best oil threads. LOL They do seem to work as advertised for us and we are very happy with them. Again, I'll try pairing both to one phone and let you know.
  21. It's a High Speed camera mount for 1st gen. So when played back in slow motion, they can finally see that blur that passed them was a 2nd gen.
  22. I wish I had the spare time to come up with these toys. http://www.wimp.com/waterpack/#
  23. This is the best product that I have found. We use it daily to repair collision damage to a variety of plastic bumpers and mouldings and give the repair a lifetime warranty. Most paint and body suppliers will carry it. http://www.pliogripbyvalvoline.com/plastic_repair.html Get the one with the longer working time if you want to impregnate the cloth. It will be part# 8002 and gives you 10 minutes to work with it. DO NOT try the #8000, it only has a 25 second working time. This is another good product, but not as "user friendly" as the Pliogrip. http://www.lord.com/Products-And-Solutions/Adhesives/Lord-Fusor-Products.xml If you need any help, PM me.
  24. Homemade sounds great. Better get extra Black Cherry....you know it will go fast.
  25. Very nice.. Cassette or 8 track??
