  1. This would be way to far for me to ride, but I bet there is a member in Texas who could help this young lady out. Avery is 5 months old and is not expected to live past 2. Her parents have started a bucket list for her here. One of the things that caught my eye was "Ride a Motorcycle". I think it would be cool to do this and only wish I lived closer. The PO Box for the charity is in Bellair, TX. Anyone able to step up and make this happen?
  2. This was also a line from Mel Brooks' "Blazing Saddles". Bad guy Hedley Lamar was deputizing a bunch of Mexican Cowboy types and when he said to them "Here's your badges" the Mexican replied "Badges, we don't need no stinkin badges!" 3. Would not have thought to check these parts! Thanks for that!
  4. No No No, I'm actually from a family of Harley's, uncle and two brothers all ride Ultra Classics. Just not for me. I am happier and more comfortable on the RSV! On top of that, my 3rd brother is searching for a Venture, he's been on a Goldwing for 15+ years! I'm quite happy about this fact! The Harley side of the family is giving him a terribly hard time about this!
  5. Thanks for all the replies! Really appreciate the help. I've got 22,000 on her, bought her in October of 2010 with 14,000. I guess a carb sync is in my very near future, need to purchase the tool to do that. Again, thanks for all the advice!
  6. Hey all, I've been a lurker on here for a long time now, don't post much, but this is important so I wanted to ask. About a month ago after being out for the day on the bike I noticed that the right rear helmet lock was falling off, hanging on by just a thread or two. I tightened this up and didn't think much of it again until last weekend. I was riding home from work on Saturday night and I have this habit of reaching back with my left hand and holding onto the passenger grab bar to stretch my back. Well the grab bar was moving all over the place in my hand. Got home and found I'd lost the bolt that held the grab rail to the fender, and the bolt under the trunk on the other end was really loose. Ordered the new bolt to replace that one, got it yesterday and went to work putting it together. While under there I checked the other bolts in the fender and found that 3 of the 4 bolts holding my trunk on were very loose. This led me to grab a bottle of lock tite out of the garage and put it on all of the bolts in question, including the two helmet locks. Is this typical? I have owned the RSV for about 1 1/2 years and love it, I will now be checking the bolts rather often, are there any other area's that I should look for things "falling off" that are common? Sorry to be so long winded, thanks for all your help in advance! What a great forum this is, I have learned so much here and it has enabled my to do a lot of my own maintenance with confidence. Great group of people here!
  7. Sorry to hear about your mom. We will keep her and your family in our prayers!
  8. I too had wondered this for some time and simply hadn't asked. Thanks for the info!
  9. What a great website for riders! Thanks for sharing, now I have to figure out an excuse to go to South Dakota and Ride! JB
  10. I wanted to send mine to him three weeks ago and didn't, now the weather man is saying 70's every day next week....I can't pass that up, seat is going to have to wait a few more days.....
  11. A cause close to my heart that gets very little attention nowadays. My wife's uncle was MIA in Vietnam for 22 years before they finally found him in Laos where his chopper had gone down. My father is a Vietnam Vet and my step son is in the Air National Guard right now, we proudly support the POW/MIA cause. Thanks for sharing this, I'm going to post it out on FB for all my friends to see, share, and think about.
  12. I have been using Teleblend since they started operations several years ago(used to be SunRocket) and I have no complaints at all. It is VOIP and has worked flawlessly for us. We fax routinely with no issues as well. The service is $99 a year plus taxes an federal fees, works out to about $130 a year if you pre pay for unlimited calling throughout the US. Good luck with your search.
  13. Just a lurker on here, but couldn't help but wanting to help. Sent what we could. I also want to suggest speaking with the local food bank or church, they don't care what religion you practice or if you do at all, they are there to help any one in need. I hope my small donation helps bring you some joy this Christmas! You and your daughter are in our prayers for better times soon.
  14. I have the same problem with a set of lights I bought off Ebay recently. There is no connector to cut off and there are no colored wires, just two black wires out of each fixture. I haven't taken the time to figure out the solution yet, so if you should and could post it out here I'd sure appreciate it.
  15. You guys are going to have an incredible time and make many memories to last a lifetime! Have a safe trip, post updates and pictures often!
  16. Like the others said, I'll be there but the weekend is packed from start to finish with activities. I too am coming in with a group (8 of us) and I am the only RSV in the group.
  17. I'll be there with about 9 other members of the Legion Riders from Whitman, MA. I have been 3 times before and had the honor of riding with my dad, a Vietnam Vet. Rolling Thunder is very special to him and I'm so happy to be able to share it with him. This year my youngest son is going to ride down with us as well, three generations together, it should be special for us! We are leaving Friday the 27th and plan on staying the weekend and leaving on Monday for home. We're staying at a Courtyard a few miles from the Pentagon, and if I have anything to say about it we will be up and headed towards the parking lot by 7am. I've been stuck in the south lot and I'd much prefer to be in the North Lot. We're taking a side trip through Cape May, NJ on the way home to be present for Marvin Hume's first flag raising ceremony of the season. If you've not heard of this I recommend taking a look at this news story, it is something to be proud of as an American: Marvin Hume's Sunset Flag Raising Perhaps we will run into each other down there!
  18. I was supposed to be leaving in two months for a group ride to Alaska. Unfortunately an elderly family member has taken ill and I won't be going this year. This is supposedly the longest organized motorcycle fundraiser in the country. Alaska is on my bucket list and I hope to do it next summer with the same group. His website is an interesting read and to believe that he road from FL to Alaska several times on a Silver Wing is incredible. Take a look if you'd like: Alaska Bike Run
  19. Hey everyone, My son is going to be coming to Rolling Thunder with me in three weeks. He's going to start out on the bike with me, but we have a couple who are trailering down so if he gets tired, or wet, he can jump in the cage with them. Once we are in Washington though we are going to be on the bike at all times. I'm looking for a good rain suit for him to wear but have had no luck finding anything, online at least. I wear a Frog Toggs suit and wanted one of those but far as I can tell they don't make youth sizes. Do any of you have a suggestion as to where I should look for this? Of course I know it's not going to rain at all while we are down there , but you know, he just really wants a rain suit! Thanks for your help Joe
  20. That's a good one, thanks for sharing!
  21. Thoughts and Prayers are with you guys for a safe and exciting trip! I can't wait to be able to roam the county like that when my "golden years" finally get here.

Thanks for sharing, that was awesome!
  23. I have the first generation of the Contour HD camera. It has many mounting options, and can be set for HD or SD depending on your needs. I've only used the camera a couple times since getting it, but liked the results. Also has a weatherproof case available for the less than desirable rides. Check it out here: Contour HD There are lots of samples of video on the manufactures website.
  24. I like that a lot! After filling my truck up on Friday the warm weather needs to get here soon, close to $66! Thank God I'm not driving a diesel, I saw $4.29 / gal for that on my way to work today! This is getting crazy!
