  1. The Gov signed it into affect yesterday. Helmets optional. I saw a guy on a Harley at lunchtime riding without a brain bucket.
  2. The Fram 6017A filters are getting hard to find there also. Advance Auto carries the Fram for under $7.
  3. I remember when I was knee high to grasshopper, Dearborn was a nice city. Not anymore.
  4. I will pass on that. My bike is my sanctuary. The only place that I can be totally unreachable as long as I am on it. No calls, nobody's bull. Just me listening to the tunes coming out of the pipes.
  5. If you can, try and take a pic and post it here. I would think that if you cleaned up the area and scuffed it up with a disc grinder, applied the JB that it wuld take care of it. Not too sure I would atempt having it welded while assembled.
  6. They just have to grin and bare it. I customized my bike for me, not the neighbors, not my wife, me. If they don't like it, they can move. Period.
  7. Well, my wife took her safety course, passed and still tried riding the bike like she drives the car. Result, crashed at 55 mph. Now she does not ride like that anymore, atleast when she is with me. How she rides when she is alone, I have no idea. All I can say is up her life insurance. A crotch rocket is no bike for a woman. Sorry, it is just too fast. Safety course will help, but no guarantee. It's no guarantee for any of us who ride. I know a few women that ride, one rides a bike waaaay to big for her. She can hardly maneuver it at low speeds. Bottom line, she's gonna do what she's gonna do. Unless your married, you can't put your foot down and say no, even then some men don't have the nads to say no.
  8. I love my loud pipes. Neighbors may not, but they do things that I don't like. Such as running their tractors until 9:30/10:00 pm cutting their lawns. So when I leave for work at 4:45 am, they hear me leave.
  9. Why would you want to talk on your phone while riding a motorcycle? What's next? Texting?
  10. Really, what model is it? Because last time I went to their site, I did not see any models and when I talked to Garmin support on the phone, they told me they phased those out. So I would like to know what model still has the MP3 player with an output jack.
  11. Nuvi 765T has an internal mp3 player with an SD card. They have been discontinued and Garmin no longer makes one with the mp3 anymore, BUT, you can find them on Ebay refurbished with warranties for a decent price. Plug right into the jack next to the awesome cassette deck and set your audio to AUX. I have a 1490T, no mp3 jack. I opened it up and added a pigtail with a female audio jack. I tapped into the speaker wires. Not a project for the faint of heart. It does come through the headset and the speakers, BUT, the only way to listen to music is with a "Y" connector going to an Ipod or othe MP3 device. Downfall is when the GPS talks, it will not override the MP3, they both will play at the same time. For me, I do not listen to alot of music on the bike so it is a non issue for me. This setup works for me because even if music is playing and the GPS starts talking, I look at the screen to see where I am supposed to be. I have a bad habit, if I can't hear it, I will blow right past my exit or miss the turn. So I just wanted to be able to hear it when it goes off to kind of remind me of where I am going. Not too fond of the smaller screen on the 765T. I like the larger one on the 1490T. So for me switching is not an option. I like the set-up I have. If Garmin decides to make one like the 765T the same size as the 1490, I will buy one, otherwise, nada.
  12. I do not want to spend more on a tire. I know from personal experiance that the E3 is a better tire than the 404. My 07 had the original tires on it when i bought it in 09. The bike had just over 9000 miles on it. I was told by a fellow Venture owner that I would not believe the differance between the two tires. I really did not believe that there could be that much of a differance between the two. So when My rear tire was worn out, I replaced both front and rears with the E3's with alot of sceptisism. Price was not that much more, I mounted them myself. I was VERY surprised at how much better the bike handled and smoother it felt down the road. If you like the 404's, fine, use them, but myself I will never put another set of those on the bike again.
  13. The dealer is C & C Sports in Brighton, MI. I will post what they have to say. You know, I have bought parts from them. I live not too far from them. They do not seem to be the sharpest tools in the shed. Not very helpful either. I put longer bars on my wifes 750 Shadow. They would not even take the time to see if they had a clutch cable that was longer or if one would fit from another model. But they sure do not have a problem with taking the money. I personally am not impressed with their sevice. But when your from out of town and obviously they knew you where, they took advantage of you. The only thing I can say is see what they have to say. I doubt you will get any satisfaction. If any of use find ourselves in a situation of needing a tire replaced while on the road, we should all be aware and look things over before we pay the bill.
  14. Personally, I would get rid of the 404's and put on a set of E3's. You will not believe the differance.
  15. What is it with the mentality of the crotch rocket riders? Wheelies on the street. I have seen it myself. My son has one and I do not even want to know what he does while on it. Hopefully he has some common sense.
  16. Yeah, I don't think I will be paying for dyno time anytime soon. The pipes are open, very short baffle. The bike runs great, gas mileage is at 40-42 mpg, depending on how hard I twist the throttle. I was just wondering if it was necessary or not.
  17. I installed a set of Samson 29" turn outs on my 07" RSV. Should I consider rejetting the carbs?
  18. I am going down early Saturday morning and then coming home later that evening.
  19. Mine has the whine. It quieted down a little bit with full synthetic oil. Funny thing is, once I put the Samson pipes on it, I can't hear the whine anymore.
  20. Personally I am all for the lynching. Maybe tie the person or persons to a tree with the same barbed wire, douse them with honey and let nature take it's course. But that's me.
  21. Most important, she is ok. Now lawyer up and take them for what they got. And make sure she wears a helmet next time.
  22. It's all part of e-commerce. Alot of poeple just have things shipped from the warehouse. Not a bad gig if you want to put the effort into it. I have bought alot of stuff off of ebay for good prices. You have to know what the item is worth before you bid or hit the buy it now button. Also, buyer beware. I have only had one bad experiance, I actually had the persons account shut down, my money was refunded and they were banned from selling. Just be carefull. I fully believe in supporting local businesses, yes even dealers, until it gets ridiculous on the price, then I look at ebay.
  23. Personally, I would look for something with less miles.
  24. Mine squeaks every once in awhile too. I just lube it up. I fixed it permantly by installing Samson pipes. Can't hear it squeak anymore.
  25. Not sure how you mean this, but as far as laws go, I think this one rocks!
