I ride around neighborhood for 5 mins, noise goes away." By chance is it normal road noise from the different type of pavement tare stripes will make a funny noise, so will different types of asphalt and concrete and hot weather will magnify this and I think it has been hot up there lately
  5. Fuel injection will do a few poss things and 1 neg. 1 Better fuel mileage 2 longer motor life(less fuel dilution why do you thing were getting 100,000-150,000 out of cars and trucks) 3 no more adjusting the carbs 4 and always having the proper fuel air ratio no mater where you drive 5 no cold start problems on 20 deg days 6 less air pollution bad side wont need as many maintenance days guss we will all just have to to go for icecream:essen_018: just mho
  6. I will be in Tulsa the week of Aug 15-21( for school) but traffic permitting I will be there
  7. Well here my story messed my thumb up 6 weeks ago and been caging it last 6 weeks. I put some road house pipes on bike and went for a ride last weekend. Did not get very far from 50-70 MPH 4-5 gear acted like it was leaning out real bad (first thought was I needed to re-jet carb because the muffler flowed to good). :fingers-crossed-emoBut came to my senses and since the bike had sat 6 weeks, I drained the tank then put 1 gal gas and a can of seafoam ran it 5 min shut it off. Next morning put a gallon can with fuel in the side bag and took off ran like crap but I expected that. 24 miles later ran out of gas, pulled over and put the gal of fresh gas in and the bike ran like new, Stopped off and fill my 1 gallon can rode 42 miles ran out put the next gallon of fresh gas in headed to the station and filled the bike up been running great since.( ran it out twice to get all the seafoam out) Now 3 years ago I tried this with my 1982 gold wing and berryman's B-12 (same procedure)and had to rebuild the carbs.( the seals swelled up) I do not know if it was just a coincidence:confused24: ( the bike was 25 years old) or something in the berryman's and being mixed this strong. All I know is never had a problem doing it with seafoam mixed this strong. I have used both and still do just wont use Berryman's mix this way in bikes.I still mix berryman's this strong in tractors and lawnmower and it works great in them and a third the cost.
  8. I do not know who installed it but could have been damaged when put on the rim either way I would get the dealer to warranty it. Life to short to take a chance
  9. you will find that any diesel oil will run 10,000 miles and more and still be good to go( when you do an oil analysis) the only problem is the filters on cars and bikes are not made for this type of service. I personally used delvac 15-40 for 10 years and in trucks( many went 1,000,000 and at tear down still looked good) and school buses all stop and go shot runs and my personal vehicles. it does not break down till around 25,000- 30,000 miles. It is all in the additive package in the oils.
  10. I have a set on mine Fish tail Roadhouse and they are loud sound great. I just have to swap the roadkings back on for long trips when we pull the trailer or we would probably go deaf
  11. If you order the carbtune before the 8 of July they are throwing in the case (because they are out of stock on the hoses) and wont be able to ship before the 8. This makes the 4 gauge kit with adapters, shipping and case about $87.17 but it wont ship till the 8.(that's even a better deal for a little extra Wait)
  12. I would take XL AND 4XL Probably only go to 3XL which would work. So put me down for a XL and XXXL pocket preferred but not necessary Thanks Dan Dagel AKA short-haul
  13. :cool10:You forgot the 2 pc of chrome door trim at the lower edge of the front fender:witch_brew:
  14. Right side would make it easier to check the oil i would think
  15. Monty the way you were taught will work fine with a used bearing and most of the time it will work with a new bearing. The reason for "seating" the bearing is to make sure the rear bearing & and seal are bottoming out on the spindle often time with the tight tolerances they do not bottom and after a short drive the bearing is lose. I personally feel that both will work. Either way I would just pull the trailer around for a couple of miles and recheck the end play once the bearing have cooled down, then repeat after 200 miles. I have seen more bearing failures due to a bearing being to tight or improperly packed (just wiping grease on the out side)then being to lose.
  16. Taken from ISIS (IHC shop Manule) this is the same basic procuder all manifuctures sugest unless you are using LGM bearing assembles. I was all ways taught this basic methoud "1 spin the wheel while tighten the bearing 2 when you feel friction on the wheel(it gets harder to turn) stop 3 back the nut off till it is just lose then tighten is so it just makes contect and install coter key" WHEEL BEARING ADJUSTMENT Satisfactory wheel seal operation as well as long bearing life depends on correct wheel bearing installation, cleanliness, lubrication and adjustment. The following will help you perform these required services for front wheels and hubs. Wheels or hubs, bearing cups, locking nuts, washers, hub caps, and spindles are to be clean from any foreign matter. Bearings must be pre-lubed before installation. Refer to GROUP 10 - LUBRICATION in the CTS-5000 Master Service Manual for the proper lube specifications. NOTE: If new bearing(s) are being installed, the new bearings must be seated to insure maximum service reliability. After the bearing and hub are assembled on the spindle, install the bearing adjustment nut. Tighten the adjustment nut to 120 to 140 ft-lbs. (163 to 190 Nm) while rotating the hub to seat the bearing. Back off the adjusting nut 1/2 turn and follow the procedure below. BEARING END PLAY CHECK PROCEDURE This procedure is done with vehicle on floor stands. The bearing must be fully installed before checking end play (cotter key installed or jam nut jammed). Use a dial indicator to measure hub end play ( Figure 12 ) with respect to the spindle. (Right click on graphic to bring up an option list) Figure 12. Measuring Hub End Play When servicing the hub assembly, check the bearing end play before the brake drum and wheels are installed. Mount the dial indicator at the bottom of the wheel (remove hub cap or axle shaft if installed), or on the drum or hub as illustrated in Figure 12 . Grasp drum, hub or tire at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock position. First push, then pull evenly on the drum hub or tire to measure the amount of end play. Note total indicator reading. The bearing adjustment procedures are intended to result in .001 to .010 inch (.0254 to .254 mm) end play with no preload. However, for longer seal life, the .001 to .005 inch (.0254 to .1270 mm) end play (clearance) should be strived for (measured after the jam nut is torqued). Previous Next © 2010 Navistar, Inc.

  21. I know his pain( bottem 5 disks in my back are wasted) and if he can not control it with meds then surgery is about the only way left to go. Either way I hope he has a speedy and complete recovery best wishes.
  22. hum there gone:bang head:
  23. I can agree with that fuel injection a few more cc and a new color I pod
  24. I think if we step back and look at the title 1900 cc V-Twin we would all agree that a 6 or even 7 speed would be helpful due to the low RPM these motors like to turn. a double over drive would help with the top end speed. This is why a hot setup for a Harley was to swap out the 5 speed for a 6speed trans. It is also why in a class 8 truck a 18 speed double over is nice set up verses a 9or 10 speed, it kept the motor in its sweet spot for the best pulling power and fuel economy:missingtooth:
