The rusty and gray is 38 Chevy coupe I am building a drag car out of put 351 Cleveland about 480hp and auto in it. The last one is a 28 Nash cabriolet it gets a 292 Chevy in line 6, 3 carbs, headers, cam etc.
  3. Well next step done primed and blocked 2 time. Tomorrow should be the last blocking and if all goes right. Next weekend paint I hope.Radical White and pearl white Base cote clear cote, to match the bike. I HATE Blocking To, all most as much as fiberglass work .But everyone knows prep is everything.
  4. I made them from 18 gauge 304 stainless cut 3/4 " larger the bent the top and bottom 3/8" in 30 degrees. and used stainless rivets to attach to rails
  5. Depending on the price and the tire manufacturer and tread design. I would be interested
  6. ATLM Just like you I was not happy with the tension on the cables either,(some even said a slow returning throttle at full turn was normal) and spent a weekend trying to find a route for them and when I did I was smart enough to take a pictures as they say "a picture is worth a 1000 words" just sorry you had to go to all that work to get your risers to work. Your welcome and hope you enjoy them as much as I like mine.
  7. I know it don't follow the rules But I rarely do. I am with Monty "Natchez Trace Parkway" was there 2 years ago and love it
  8. Thanks have played with glass since the early 90 and still do not like it you have that itchy fealing for 3 or4 days and if you don't use a respirator when grinding and sanding it will give you a sore throat that lasts a long time. Im just happy Im down to filler, primer and paint
  9. Well started work on my $250 trailer that had rode a wall. All I can say is I HATE FIBERGLASS WORK!!!!!!!!!!! Got the glass work done and started the filler next weekend on to primer and blocking. Plans are 2 tone white to match bike with ghost flames:225:
  10. Squidley never opp-ed in for the school bus yellow paint I have got, so I am painting my 305 dream with it bring it by and I will shoot it 2 looks like it will make a nice grocery getter(beer chaser) I have always loved working on the smaller bikes .

  12. Silver T got so excited and missed you question? looking forward to 2 more days of itchy fiber glass work and all the pain killer i am on for my back does that some times. The risers are from EBay I think they were $45. I was very happy with the quality some think thy are chromed but my set was just highly polished, I found no signs of chrome when I drilled them. And no I wont trade the chrome but if you send me your chrome part I will send you my brushed aluminum:stickpoke:
  13. Actually the riser are polished. Some day I will pull the rest and polish it. But the bike is done for now and I Will hopefully have the trailer fixed and painted in 3 more weeks man I hate fiber glass work but what do you expect from a $250. trailer. This weekend flatting the lower back panel so the 59 Caddy tail lights like I have on my bike will set flat and not point down.Next week end prep for paint then paint . Then its time to ride to Leakey Texas to meet and eat on April 24:guitarist 2:

  15. Hi Plainmd and Smely Yes aircraft Tech count to and any one that works on trains I was just curious about how many on the board make a living getting GREASE some thing i have loved all my life.
  16. sonnyboy said"I feel for the people coming into this business now. They think going to school for a few months, getting a line of Snap-On credit and a roll around tool box makes them a mechanic. If the computor scanner they just bought can't tell them whats wrong they are lost." I agree 100%They are total lost, if the diagnostic equipment does not tell them what's wrong. I spent my last 3 years in high school in auto shop 3 hr a day. I got my formal training through a very good program in North Texas sponsored by the new car dealer association. It was made up of 3 years apprentice days at the dealership hand on training in what was taught at collage and 4hr nights at the collage over the theory of how and why it worked. Wound up with an Associates Degree in Applied Sciences Automotive Technology, Journeyman Certificate from the federal government and a grate job at Frank Kent Cadillac making $75,000 in 1984 and when I left (got burned out same thing day after day)in 1991 my last year $124,000 Now I found a place to retire from. A small School district (with 22 buses, 18 support vehicles,And grounds equipment) not as good of pay but in this 1 man shop life is an adventure.
  17. Nothing wrong with that Midnite. that's how I wound up as a diesel technician.bought a truck and leased it to Hot Shot Express then another and another and soon all I was doing was repairing my truck's. When diesel hit $2.00 sold everything and started my new career as a school bus technician. Never been happier School District are the way to go. I don't think it ever ends I'm 49 and just hopping to get out alive.
  18. I seen a pole on the age of technicians and was amazed that most of us 68% have been at it for 30 Plus years and less then 15 % have been doing it 20 years or less. Where is the pool of technicians for the future going to come from. How many of you make your living working on Car, Truck, Bus, Motorcycle, and Boat? How many are ASE certified? How many work at a dealership? How many work at independent shop? How many work for the government? And how long? I would just like to know. Me I am a School bus technicians ASE Master Auto, Truck, Bus, L1, L2 10 years Cadillac 8 years custom car building 12 years fleet on large trucks and buses
  19. Yep same type lines but cheaper if you buy it form truck supply house. Oreilly auto parts can also get it might have to be special ordered Ask for there Fleet & Heavy Duty catalog 1/2" has a P# GAT H30002-08 $.72 foot 5/8" has a P# GAT H30002-10 $1.00 foot
  20. I started at the comp. with a ball valve the a 15' stainless steel flex to the main 1" steel feeder line and then 1/2 plastic Air Brake line from there(to hose reels and drops). The air brake line is used on trucks and buses, for the brake system and is D.O.T. approved for air lines. assembles with compression fittings Also D.O.T. approved and has a work pressure in excess of 200#.for what you have listed (I assume you meant 3/8 ratchet not 3/4)you could run the hole system in this very easy to work with My compressor is 80 gal tank work pressure 175# Truck Pro is about the cheapest you can also get it at large truck dealer(Freight liner,IHC, KW) runs about $0.50 a foot can be bought buy the foot and comes on roles of 500 foot, common color is Black but you can get it in Red Yellow Orange and Blue. make sure the fitting are for plastic air line it will have a steel tube that slide in the air line so the Farrell will crush. I had PVC in my first shop it does work not the safest way to go but if you chose to use PVC Get schedule 40 not 20 Use the high strength glue. Dump the pressure out of the system Do not hit it with objects it will shatter
  21. I have not done it yet but I will just use the power for the turn stop and tail light behind the plate I will have all LED and the amp draw is next to nothing.I will kept the 5 wire system LT,,RT,Stop,Tail and dont forget the ground
  22. I order lots of parts from Hong Kong it can take 3-4 weeks by air and months by ship. Last foot pegs I orders 4 total, 2 fount,2 rear for 305 dream came in 4 packages, 1 in 8 days last one in31 days all sent the same time. I think they tie some parts to homing pigeons:stickpoke:
  23. :stickpoke:And to think, back in the late 80-early 90 we paid extra to put a gear drive timing gears in street rods and for a little more $$ you could get a really noise set. Maybe YAMAHA thinks this is what we like .Just like the cassette player we all are so fond of.
  24. I got a set off eBay I think it was KS motor-sport plain billet with star $250 they had 1 set left last night
