  1. Seems when mine does this I find I had mistakenly bumped the e-stop, and finally get it reset in process of resetting everything else. Peculiar only does this only when stopped and ready to shut down. I had considered adding a 'e-stop active' warning indicator, but finally learned to check it first.
  2. I have loosened the cam caps enough to raise the cam to get shims out. Only issue is if chain jumps a gear tooth, then you will need to go thru complete timing setup. If you do this, first verify all timing marks, and second remove cam chain tensioner and reset it, to prevent it from closing to much. Good luck
  3. Already noted it is not legal to use the USPS box for other than as intended, but you, I, and everyone else pays for you to use this 'free' box in higher postage costs. Post office going under now, and continued unnecessary costs, providing 'free' supplies not actually used for USPS business, this will only increase the timing. Then what will be the mailing options? UPS, FEDEX, or what ever private company that buys what is left of USPS and charges there own rates that create profits! Just something to think about.
  4. I have been using this for about 8 months now at work http://www.ebay.com/itm/3w-Cree-SWAT-Light-Led-Torch-Multifunction-Flashlight-Ultrafire-50W-New-Box-/121034800620#vi-content It blowes away any incandescent torches, even the big handheld 12v ones. Have yet to kill the battery during 8 hour shift, although I do recharge every day. The zoomable focus is VERY useful. Wide beam for near work, or zoom for spot down lengh of 100' furnace. and can beat the price. Only dislike-does not include sheath. But I made my own.
  5. Hadn't given it much thought, but think I had same issue yesterday. I switched from I.E to Firefox, and finished what I was looking for.
  6. Thanks you Richard, just what I was looking for.
  7. Got a question for a finance/tax advisor about early pension. What should I look for when choosing one? Most in book look to be affiliated with stock companies (Merrill Lynch, Ameriprise,...). Not interested in being advised on what stocks to buy. Good advisor will likely get my personal tax return business. Anyone here like to try my question, my email in profile.
  8. Front OR rear brake reservoir low. Bullet connectors right frame to isolate rear master for testing. Rear fill plug known to be stuck to the point it breaks the reservoir if wrenched to hard. If does not open easy-STOP and remove reservoir out to where you can work on it.
  9. Suggest you leave the White RLU indicator an incandescent bulb. If you check in the dark, it glows very faintly. With LED it is nearly full bright.
  10. starter solenoid just left of battery just under fairing is likely suspect. Can verify by jumping the large screw terminals, starter should crank.
  11. Thats pretty cool Brian, mine is not a 'Royale'. Option for non-royal?
  12. I use an old 1 quart plastic oil bottle. 2 nipples set into lid, 1 with hose for vent. coat hanger wire bracket to hang it upside down
  13. Behind left front turn signal lens(remove it), down low, sort of under air duct. PIA. Emergency flasher is also here, side by side in rubber straps. I unmounted mine and reattached to top of air duct behind the turn lens. BTW- the 2 pin flasher you pictured IS the Hazard Flasher. The turn signal is a 3 pin flasher.
  14. Gary, Looking at RSV part breakdown, TPS appears to be bolted over throttle plate shaft. Someone can verify. Our throttle plate shaft is nearly flush with carb wall, and we lack mounting pointson carbs, it may be difficult for direct carb attachment. Still looking at TPS added to throttle junction box. Bidding on 87 cable set. Have you tried the mockup yet?
  15. watching with interest
  16. I had a clogged reservoir hose. rad pressure allowed coolant into & overfill reservoir, but would not flow back into rad.- Rad ended up low and hot. If you pull rad cap, reservoir should drain out the open rad cap- if not you have a problem.
  17. Might try http://www.boats.net $13.47ea http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/yamaha/Y-22U-14190-15-00.html
  18. No Email, but after looking, my subscription expires in 3 DAYS! Renewed and all is well.
  19. You could try resistor plugs or resistor caps or both, to change the spark freq.
  20. This is very true. LEDS operate at a very narrow current rating. Too low they do not light and too high they fry. Most old dimmers are resistive type that add resistance to a bulb circuit, lowering the current to the bulb. LED current limit to too sensitive for a resistive dimmer. Typical general purpose LEDS have a current rating of 20mA. They are designed with current limiting resistor based on operating voltage(12v). Adding even more resistance they go dark at about 17mA. Not much range for resistive dimming. LED dimming is almost ALWAYS done with a modulation (PWM), or pulsing the power to the LED at such a fast rate it looks like it is on steady. Changing the on time vs off time (a longer off time) creates the illusion of dimming. RGB or tri-color LEDS are actually 2 leds in same package Red and Blue, and if both are turned on at the same time looks like Green, dimming or level of each color is still done with pulse modulation(typically built into the led tv drive IC.)
  21. When you do get it out, replace it and the pins with mkII segment and never have the problem again part #s in this thread http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=635164
  22. Brian, I will pass for now, as I have the 'original' switch installed.
  23. On the 83 both turn and hazard flashers are seperate and are beind left front turn signal, behind vent duct, way down low. I relocated both on top of vent duct behind turn assy for access. I think on the 84 and up, turn is part of the 41r relay assembly somewhere in the headlight bucket. FYI, for the 83 here is my mod to keep self cancel working with LED flasher http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=63802&highlight=turn+signal
  24. TPS will be tested! Just got off phone with rbig1. Think I have him set with a map should work on 83 he will load tomorrow. One point though, he stated reading mV with Bar1 sensor set to TPS. I told him I think a wiring problem as should be reading in the range of 1.0-5.0v. (actually 1.686 and 4.765 is what my old Bar1 map was). Opinion?
