In the past I've planned my Saddlesore's around our yearly motorcycle vacation week, where I will ride to our destination solo, and my tailgunner will fly there, meet me, then vacation, and ride back at our leasure. Last year's trip was from here (Kansas City) to Niagara Falls, where she met me. We then rode south to Tennessee and back home over a 10 day period. She has done a few 700+ mile days, but never a 1000+. Next year I will do a 1500 mile ride, up to somewhere along Lake Michigan, then south to the Carolinas to meet her there. I get my fix, and we get to have a great vacation. Ride safe Brian

Freebird, do you still have the orginal hex bolts in there? I thought I read somewhere that you replced them with other bolts. Brian
-
Yes you have to remove it. Then while you have it off, put a spacer block behind, so next time you will not need to. Youc an also replace this hex bolts with something that is easier to remove. I believe it is a 5 or 5.5mm, and the ball end hex wrenches work best. Good luck Brian

I guess I should spell it out better. It was flipped, based on the poster's remark before my original post, to make it look like he was on the right side of the road. The original picture is the correct one. It really is. He is on the wrong side of the road.

There... we were looking at it from the wrong side.(Poor editing skills by me) EDIT: (for the sake of the people) The picture in this post is a photoshopped picture to put him on the right side of the road. The original picture in post 1 is the correct one.

Congrats on your new bike! You probably have the info already, but below are a few links of places that I got my info and parts from while I had my Vstar. I had an 1100. You can see pics in my profile of how I had it set up for solo and two-up tour duty. http://www.pacificcoaststar.com/pcs/index.htm http://forums.delphiforums.com/yamaha1100/start Enjoy Brian

It sure does answer my question. That's great info! Thanks Brian

You did the conversion with the daily exchange rate, which does not accurately reflect the real cost of the motorcycle. The cost of living, and hence the price of goods, and the salaries earned, are much higher than the US market to compensate for this substantial difference. Things are pricey there, but using the exchange rate, falsely reflects the price of the motorcycle, which btw is very nice. Brian

SilvrT, I have no doubt that Skydoc stepped up and did what he does well, and supported his product, which BTW, I will also have to use in near future, but what was it that caused this post? This is something that was big enough to cause you to post on this issue. Can you share any more? This could help a fellow Venturer down the line. Thanks Brian

That's awesome! We stayed there last weekend, on our way back from Florida, where I had purchased the RSV. Be safe and enjoy your trip. Brian

Not sure where you plan to stay in Kimberling City, but a great place we stay at is Cruise Inn, located at 9687 Hwy 13. They cater to motorcyclists(they ride), you park your bike right outside your room(as in on the sidewalk, under the overhang), you get rags to wipe down, have a wash station too. They also have little bar/saloon on premises. They realy are very nice people. The place is VERY clean and well kept. Great view of the lake. Reasonably priced. Enjoy ur trip. Brian

Bob, what oil did you change from? Brian -
RedRider, it's great to see your kids grow into things... As for the KLR, yes it is a simple workhorse. Kind of like the old Land Cruisers of the off-road. That's my choice too of a very reliable, tough, affordable dual sport. Look forward to the pics. Here's to all going as planned! Brian

Did you make it out? Was a tad windy, but there sure were lots of bikes out. Brian

Sarasota, Florida - Anyone want to host a Maintenance day in March?
exrsa1 replied to exrsa1's topic in Watering Hole
Only twelve days to go and I will be down in Florida to see my bike for the first time. I want to thank Tufftom, Kreger, Midnight V4 for the offers. I have secured a place to work in Sarasota, so should be able to get everything done there. As you can tell by the first post, I plan to ride back to Kansas City. I sure hope the weather holds. I don't mind cold, but snow/ice will stop my plan. I do have a back up plan to have a friend of mine bring my truck and trailer down if i can't go any further due to weather. My itin looks something like this: ( I ride Secondary roads, unless not feasible) 1. Friday March 25th. - Arrive Sarasota. Look over and work on bike and shakedown ride. 2. Saturday/Sunday - Explore along the coast towards Naples and surrounding areas. 3. Monday - Head north towards Tallahassee. Going to run up the middle of the state. I want to go through Ocala National Forest also. 4. Tuesday - Make it to Tallahassee and take the scenic route 319/98 all along the coast to Pensacola. 5. Wednesday - Get through Alabama, either by I10 or some side road (Still looking at that), then take I90 into New Orleans. 6. Thursday - Head north on the Louisiana/Mississippi border towards Arkansas. 7. Friday - Make it to Greers Ferry Lake in Arkansas -and meet up with fellow riders from Missouri. 8. Ride Arkansas backroads towards Branson. 9. Sunday - Bring her home to Kansas City. Maybe see some of you on the road. Any suggestions for "must see" routes, places, would be much appreciated. Ex -
Congrats! I trust it will be all you anticipate it to be. Ex

I will keep her, and you and your family in my prayers and thoughts. Good luck! Ex
