I'm in Kansas City. Have the tools, but no parts. I do have a trailer. Not sure what I can do to assist. I will be heading to Arkansas this coming Thursday on the RSV. Can we get you some parts by then, so we can do swap? Brian

Well Shiver me timbers!!! This thread is way olde. I will kick my own dungbie for being such a landlubber.... I'll get back to my hogshead then.....

We've been averaging between 7K - 9K yearly. This year we have just under 11K and hope to ride for a few more weeks. I would love to ride more, but time, kids, etc does not permit.... yet. EX

green light triggers

One more thing. They can be very brittle. Let them slam together or to a piece of metal, and chances are they will break, so be careful. -

Find yourself a Neodymium magnet. Also know as a rare earth magnet. I have a 2" round on the bottom of the frame on mine. They rust very fast, so dip them in rubber or coat it somehow. It works. DO NOT get your finger between it and where you attach it to. Ex -
Only thing new is Stratoliner and a Raider. Price of Venture is up $100.

Kansas City, 46 here this morning, with a high of 74. The rest of the week is going to be the same. Gorgeous! Guess I'll wear a jacket on the bike this morning. Ex

Thanks for posting this special. One of the things on my list today was to pick up some seafoam. Ex

First, a hearty thank you to them for their service! Very much appreciated!! And to you Dad, you must be VERY proud! I am somewhat surprised that they will have them deploy together. My military carreer started in 1980 with the South African Forces and even back then they would not deploy siblings together. After that, in various other forms of military 'forces' I was part of, they had the same policy. Brian

Mine started with gas mileage going down some, an uneven idle, then backfiring at deceleration. Syncc'd em and all was betta. Brian

Ah yes, you mean a 12V source inside fairing. On my Zumo I ran the wires to the headlight HOT, so it comes on when I turn the ignition on. I did have it on the HOT that feeds the 12V plug, but was worried about that fuse being too light. Hope that helps Brian
-
There is a 12V outlet on the left side of the fairing (sitting on the bike), down at knee, tank height, kinda under the speaker. Look around in there, and you will see it.

I posted the following paragraph from a previous thread: "I bought my front Elite 3 from Jake Wilson, and it turned out to be 3.5 years old. In talking to their customer service people, they explained that the manufacturer have assured them there are no issues with tires that old, if kept in a climate controlled warehouse, which they have. I was not very comfortable with that, but talked to my tire guy and decided to install it, but we realized that the beads of the tire were within an inch of each other, and getting to set that bead was going to be a problem. To make a long story endless... We got it on finally, but took some "engineering". So far I have about 1000 miles on it and no issues. It made a big difference from the original Bridgestone. I'll be putting on about 2000 miles in the next two weeks, and hopefully will see no ill effects due to the age of the tire." So after about 3300 miles, no issues with the 'older' tire and really like the change from the Bridgestone. I also had to change the rear Dunlop 404 after only 6000 miles, which was very dissapointing. I went with an Elite 3 this time, again ordered from from Jake Wilson, but this time the tire was manufactured in 2011, and no issues getting it mounted. Brian

In Kimberling City, there is a great place we stay at, named "Cruise Inn", located at 9687 Hwy 13. They cater to motorcyclists(they ride), you park your bike right outside your room(as in on the sidewalk, under the overhang), you get rags to wipe down, have a wash station too. They also have little bar/saloon on premises. They realy are very nice people. The place is VERY clean and well kept. Great view of the lake. Reasonably priced. Another place we liked was www.hubinfo.com another bike friendly place centered around some awesome riding. I can go on and on about Arkansas, since it is our closest good mountain riding. Check out Eureka Springs. www.edelweissinn.com Super clean and bike friendly. Snarley Bill just had a M&E there. Once in Arkansas pick up the local Motorcycle roads flyer that you can find at just about any motel, and it will have some great roads to ride for you. Bikes, Blues and BBQ is in Fayetteville the first weekend in September. Enjoy and be safe. Brian

Front would be 150/80-16, or does the RSTD take a different size? Jake Wilson has 150/80-16 on sale for $116. Brian
-
I can't see why this would be a problem. The Zumo comes with an inline fuse, so all good there. The Zumo comes with a motorcycle connector that has to be hardwired in. You could add a plug at the end and plug it in, but it really is a nice and clean setup with it all wired in. Brian

Cutting down windshield from the bottom
exrsa1 replied to Grisolm1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You are concerned about scratching the windshield, not the bottom of the saw, so tape the windshield. If you are concerned about the coating, and it seems that is a valid concern, then use cling wrap (stretchable plastic wrap used in the kitchen), and layer that tightly onto the shield. Works good too. Brian -
Hey KID, was there any talk on making a taller shield as well? I see this one is 8.5" - 13.5". Will there be another size 'switchable' screen? Thanks Brian EDIT: I just saw that the Harley's have various sizes, so I would think that would be very do-able on the Venture. I like this idea. Brian

Just a quick note on the Mic-mutes folks. I received mine last week and installed it today, but had no luck in getting it to work. I decided to call and leave a message so perhaps someone can assist me tomorrow. I called the 800 number and someone picked up!! Bill said it was no big deal that it was the 4th and walked me through some tests. He will ship one out tomorrow and I can ship this one back at my leisure. Now that's service! Brian
