  1. I'm with you there, brother!
  2. Here's how it's done. This is not my idea, I got it from another board. This is all of the knowledge that I have of the procedure. Art
  3. It can be mounted using some L brackets.
  4. this is off an '02....is this the same as the newer ones?
  5. Everything from Yamaha is expensive.
  6. Thanks..... Art
  7. I'm thinking of trying one of the Venture seats on my rstd. There's one on Ebay now and the bid is up to $132. Are these seats worth that much money? I've never seen an stock seat sell for that much. It has a couple of days left ...dunno how high the bid might go but I don't think I'll bid that high for a stock seat. I'd sure like to buy one to try though. Art
  8. These will also fit the RSTD, right? Art
  9. They are great people, for sure. They will definitely get all of my business. I'll gladly ride 100 miles there instead of 5 miles to my local dealer. Art
  10. I sold a '97 Valkyrie last year with 114,000 on it. The guy who bought it just emailed me last week and said what a great bike it is. Ride 'em if ya got 'em, says I.
  11. Has anyone ever removed the UGLY, BIG, Takes Up Too Much Room speedometer on the Gen II ? I don't care for the lower pods (intake stuff?) nor the funky speedometer unit on my bike. I think I need to make a trade with someone who has a nice Gen I and wants a newer bike. I think I like the looks of the early models better. ALTHOUGH..... mine is running great now that I had it worked on yesterday
  12. NAPA used to sell Moly EP Lube in a can like regular bearing grease. I used to use this to lube new camshafts in my engine builds....never had a cam fail due to wiping a lobe. This was grease though, what's recommended for our use is Moly Paste, not grease.
  13. dirty, mis-adjusted carbs they said.
  14. BIKE IS FIXED!!!!! Xtreme Sports did a super job on the bike. They removed and cleaned the carbs, adjusted, synced and waved a magic wand and cast a spell and I have a totally different motorcyle than I took them. I am absolutely happy with the service manager and the mechanic who worked on the bike. It's good to find service personnel who try to please and who are skillful in their craft. Cudos to Xtreme Sports. Art
  15. 2 weeks ago I was ranting and cussing the Yamaha dealer here in Charleston. Today I took my RSTD to the dealer in Sumter,SC (Xtreme Sports) to see what they could tell me about my crappy running bike (which the Chas'n dealer said was running just fine.) They got the bike in the shop within 15 minutes of my arrival and 3 hours later I rode off with a great running motorcycle. I honestly was ready to trade this bike off for something ....almost anything....except a Stratoliner. It was so nice to find a service manager who cared and a mechanic who knows his trade and does it well. I will not hesitate to ride 100 miles to this dealer again if I need to....I am happy and satisfied!! Art
  16. I'll let y'all know what they find. I just hope that this doesn't turn out to be just another "Dealer Screws Art" venture. I had that honor here in Charleston a couple of weeks ago. Art
  17. I bought one of the HF chocks and my Valkyrie tire, 150 size, was tight. I spread the chock frame a bit and had no trouble after that. It's mounted on my motorcycle lift table and it works quite well. Art
  18. George.... I enjoyed meeting you and everyone else who was there. A great big thank you to you George and Dave, Mike, Ted and whoever else had their fingers in my bike. Even though we didn't get the problem fixed, I learned quite a bit about the "new to me" bike. It took Tom and me about 2 hours to get from the I-77/ I-26 junction to the 145 marker. We finally exited at 145 and went the back roads home. THANKS again for inviting me.... Art
  19. I envy you. I've owned 3 Valks and love 'em!! Always wanted an Interstate but never got one. Art
  20. Prayers sent for a quick recovery. Art
  21. So how much is it???
  22. Yep... I'll definitely be there, weather permitting. I might be a little groggy from driving back from Florida Friday evening after a vacation week with an 11y/0. And many thanks , again, for helping me with this. However, the bike runs crappy but I got about 45 mpg on a 160 mile ride Monday. Maybe I shouldn't mess with it. lol
  23. I have that same black plastic one....it's a "Barefoot Willie" I think. I've had one of those on my last 5 motorcycles.......about 20 bucks.
  24. Thanks for the ride!
  25. I've used the Dyna Beads on 2 Valkyries....front and rear, they worked great. Art
