I wish you the best and will remember you in my prayers. It's really true that bad things happen to good people. Just know that people from coast to coast are thinking and praying for you and you family. Wishing you the best from Alabama.

I recently put some 85.5 gas in my bike and couldn't tell any difference. I did however burn it all out before I put her to bed for the night. Has anyone used any of this stuff and had problems with it?

I'll bet your 99 does to. Mine does.

Where to get factory parts?
Eddie Fulmer replied to spingley's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Use Rick at buckeye performance. He owns a venture and can really help you out. I've ordered a bunch of parts from him. Go to the web site and then give him a call. Or you can email him a list and he'll get you a price. I like doing business with him. I believe he's a 1 man operation with great customer service. -

My credit union offers 5.45 on all new vehicles as of 9-18-08. I'm about to purchase a new truck and have to use Ford's financing (8.99%)to get the rebates but can pay them off with a credit union loan on the first payment. Go figure.

Loose headset connection
Eddie Fulmer replied to johnny-canuck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I think my pins are worn out in the helmut jack. I ordered 2 new sets yesterday. I plan on taking the jack apart and seeing what the problem is. I sprayed contact cleaner into the jack and it helped for a while but now I'm right back where I started. I like the headsets from wingstuff.com. Their $60 unit is as good as any I've used. Good luck.- 8 replies

Hey I was washing my bike and noticed that the front air deflecters were almost ready to fall off. Seems the vibration has about done them in. What is the fix if any for these?? Seems like there was a thread on it a while back but I was unable to locate it.

In the tool kit I have there is a "socket" to fit the spark plugs. However I can't get anything in there, that comes with the kit, to be able to turn the socket. The only thing that fits is the wrench and I can't get it down in there. Am I missing something? I didn't think that the kit had ever been out of the bag.

I suppose I've been so excited about getting to go I misread the plans. We'll be gone for 10 days. That will make it some better. Thanks for all the replies.

For sure if I'd planned the ride it would last longer. I'm just along for the ride. I'll see what I need to do when my wife and I go out there in the near future. I'll enjoy that one much better I know.

I"ll be leaving on the 30th of this month for a 4,300 mile ride. I'm in Tuscaloosa Alabama. Me and a friend of mine are going to South Dakota to meet up with 2 more fellows. We are then riding out to Rushmore, Custer St park, Devils tower, then on over to Yellowstone for the Grand Canton, Paintspots, Old Faithful, Teton Pk and some more neat places. I can't wait to leave. We'll be gone for 8 days!! I'll let you know how it goes along with some pics when we get back. Guess I can add to my states visited map some then huh.

I have had a synch tool for some time and finally took the time to even my carbs up. It was much easier than I thought, even though I've done quite a few carbs in the past. Ports were right there and you don't have to take off any body parts to get to them. I had some popping out the exhaust ever since I've had the bike and it got worse when I did the carbs. The reason I'm writing here is to encourage those that have put off synching the carbs and stopping up the AIS to get with it!! It took me all of 5 minutes to put the stoppers in the AIS system. I did what is described in the tech section. It actually takes longer to warm up the Venture than it does to synch the carbs. Get with it and get it done!! Mine runs better than ever now and with no popping and a great idle. All the money I saved I can buy me some chrome or something.

Rethinking all this, I used to run a tractor and do bushhogging, plowing and such for people. I understand that you can become allergic to stings even though you have been stung many times before. One time while I was plowing up a greenfield for some hunters(way out in the middle of nowhere) I dropped the brake plows in the ground and plowed up a huge yellow jacket nest. Needless to say they ate me up. I don't know how many times I got stung but it was a bunch. After that I went to my family doctor and got a prescription for an injection kit that you cold use if you had a reaction. Might not be a bad idea to keep one of those around now. If you know you are allergic and don't then you ain't the sharpest tool in the shed!!

Wow, been riding a good while and this is the first time I ever had a bee in my pants. Riding along minding my own business and pow!! One got me on the right leg about the knee on the outside. Grabbed that bugger and rolled him good in my blue jeans. Thought I got him but about 3 minutes later he got me again on the inside of my knee right in the bend. After I stopped and shook out a big ole red wasp I didn't feel to good about getting my feet up on the highway pegs. But I did anyway. What if someone came up with a little filter to put over your pants leg to let in the wind and keep out them critters? Wind sure feels good running up them britches!!

Craftsman jack
Eddie Fulmer replied to venture101's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have to run my front wheel up on a piece of wood before I can get my jack under it. Not a problem really. Otherwise I have to stand it almost straight up to get the jack under. It's a little hairy holding the bike with one hand and the jack with the other. That's the reason for the board. -
Audio Tripometer Issue
Eddie Fulmer replied to Rev's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
IF you do decide to replace the switch go to http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/ get the phone number and talk to Rick. He sent me the bolts along with the new switch. I drilled the head off the old ones, pulled the switch off and then used pliers to remove the studs. He also sent me the screw to take the old switch apart and change out the key part so I could keep the same key. If I can be of any help on this please don't hesitate to send me an email efulmer@aol.com Hope this helps -
How far is the trunk supposed to open?
Eddie Fulmer replied to Kidh2's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I just unhooked the little hold open thing and mine works great. It will stay up to. I took the keeper off the hold open arm and left it like that. I can put it back if I should ever want to. -
Changing Plugs
Eddie Fulmer replied to Ken Parker's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My only question is do they really need changing after only 10K?? I'm not planning on changing mine until around 40K. What say the gurus here?? -
Want to add extra brake lights.......need ideas please!
Eddie Fulmer replied to mashley's topic in Watering Hole
Seforeman has the right information for you. There is nothing as cheap, or more expensive that looks as good. I have one on my bike and it works great and many people comment on how good it looks. Here's the address to the light. http://signaldynamics.com/products/LightBars/15ultra.asp Go to the hardware store and buy 2= 1 inch bushings that you can put a #10 screw through. I got some made from plastic at the local Lowe's lumber store. These move the light bar out from under the trunk just enough so that it doesn't touch the trunk. Get 2 #10 x 1 1/2 inch stainless screws and some self locking nuts. Pull the rubber back on the helmut mounting rig under the trunk and the holes in the led light bar will line up with these perfectly. You can mount the light without even drilling a hole!!! I can't remember the wiring colors for it but you can figure it out easily. Hope this helps. You won't be dissappointed. It looks like it's made for the bike. -
Phil, I like your story better!! Actually probably all three.

I didn't get wheather the lady stopped or not. Here in Alabama we have a no contact law. You can be at fault for causing a wreck even if you're not hit. Sounds like you fit the bill.

Ignition switch or other??????
Eddie Fulmer replied to Red1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Go to Buckeye performance and order the switch. He'll include the new screws and everything to get you going again. I drilled out the old screws took the switch out and got hold of the studs with some pliers and screwed them out. Replaced them with the new ones and I was in business. He will also send you the screws to replace in the switch assembly so you can keep the same key. Rick knows his stuff and will help you out. If I cna help you out send me your phone number and i'll give you a call. Eddie Fulmer
