  1. I assume that this is the RSV you're talking about. 1. Is there any spark 2. Is there fuel in the carb on the cylinder that's not running 3. Is there any compression on that cylinder. 1=Pull plug wire off and connect to a good spare plug and start it up. Check for spark 2=loosen drain on bottom of carb bowl. I had some water get in one of my carbs and just doing this cured the problem. Catch the fuel/water when you open the drain so you can see what you caught. 3=test the compression... let's hope it is good. here's a good start for you. Hope this helps
  2. I knew I could count on you guys. Thanks I'll give these a look and see what we have time for.
  3. Hey what are the good roads to ride around Branson. I'll be there next week for a few days. We're doing this cause Mama gets tired after a few miles.
  4. I wouldn't ride that tupperware bowl anywhere!!! What's worse is then you rub it in our faces>..... Really hope you enjoy it. I ride with a lot of folks that love them. They just don't fit me. I feel cramped on the things. Go figure. On the other hand if the government would.....oh I'm trying not to go there....LOL
  5. We keep saying they they they. It's really us us us that make the laws. We must demand them to be changed not just expect that "they" will. The monkey is really on our back when you look at it. And another thing, when the government.........oh I really don't need to go there.
  6. You just made me feel good!!! Glad you got the bar on. May it not only look good but may in increase the angel presence when you ride!!! I think those bars actually scare away the evil spirits to. LOL Hey this is me in about 2 weeks. Me and my first wife are going to Branson, Mo. She can't ride that far so I'm trailering my bike. They say there are many good roads there.
  7. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only old fart shucking some water from my eyes. I just wish more could get a little emotional when they think about our country. God bless America.
  8. I don't have crash bars on mine. I have highway bars
  9. OK I'm a heavy front breaker. However I've got about 37k on my bike with the original brakes all the way around. Just another opinion.
  10. replace it and be done with it. I got mine from Buckeyesports.com I think that's the url. Rick, helped me get the right parts and I was able to take apart the switch and use the same key that fit everything else. It's not really all that hard. Good luck with your project.
  11. WOW what a dummie. My wife and I are going to Charleston in a couple of months and will be taking the bike. That however makes me not want to go. What a turkey.
  12. Iv'e always used auto filters on my bike. Crossed it over and never looked back. Never any problems. If you need the number I'll get it when I get home. But sounds like you have it under control
  13. I think I went 30K on mine. I always use anti seize on the plugs when I install them. This makes them easier to tighten and much easier to remove. I use the anti seize on most everything on my bike. It just makes life easier for me. You must remember, however that when you use it it reduces the friction between the threads and you can overtighten easily. Hope this helps. BTW My plugs looked great to. I think I'll go about 40K this time.
  14. A cool name how's bout FROSTY!! That's pretty cool huh? LOL
  15. In case you ever need help again please follow these instructions. Get big hammer:smash2:, Place the doflotchee right on top of the thingamajig and tap gently. If it doesn't go in check the whatchamacallit and make sure it's not sticking out keeping the parts from going together. Tap gently again. If it still doesn't fit properly you must sock-jock the whole mechanism and then cross-fire it until it does. Oh well u c where this is going. Glad you got it back together.
  16. I wonder how many people pay attention to where the item they buy comes from. I dare anyone to go to Wally world and pick up 10 items at random and get over 10% made in the usa. That means 90% made out of states. Many times I've put something back on the shelf and refused to buy it because it's made in china. What say the other smart people here?? www.ridingformissions.com
  17. Bubber, It will come out where you tell it to. I pipe mine into the headsets. Most any mp3 player will work. You will have to get a double male cord with 1/8 in plugs on it. Put one end into the system right by the cassett player and the other into the player. Turn the system on aux and rock out!! LOL You will like it. I promise. You could kill 2 birds with one rock and buy you a GPS with a player built in.
  18. I work in the Fire Service and we got a call one evening about a 1 vehicle acident. When we arrived on the scene we found a woman standing beside the car covered in blood. After a little investigation we discovered that a deer had jumped the road, well almost, and had landed right in the windshield. Needless to say the the deer had been cut in half by the doorpost and the intrails and such had entered the car through the windshield. Part of the deer ended up in the ladys lap and she told us she had to push it off her to get out of the car. Much of the entrails were on the rear shelf behind the back seat. The deers head was about 70 yards down the road laying on the center line. This is the only time in 25 years of fire service that I can remember that we gave someone a bath with the fire hose. She really wanted that stuff off of her!! The first thing she said was you guys got any water on that truck. I'll never forget that one. She was the passenger and didn't need to go to the hospital but the driver went to get his eyes flushed. Luck people.
  19. Hey I want a refund!! Wait a minute though, do I have to buy one first? LOL J/K keep up the good work.
  20. a 196?? honda 65 with a locked up transmission. I think my Dad bought it for me to help me learn how to repair things. The gear on the main transmission shaft was sheared and I purchased it at the local honda shop for $12. The bike cost $25, used of course. It had a stamped steel frame. I repaired it without repair manual and me and my brother rode it forever. Well it seemed like it anyway.
  21. I can't remember what the wire color was. I hope that someone with a wiring diagram can chime in here. It was an easy job and I just used a 12 volt circuit tester to find the wires I needed. Sorry. I'll try to look when I get home.
  22. Hi there guys, Here’s the instructions for installing the signal dymanics light bar on the Venture. First you need to get the light bar. It’s available at http://signaldynamics.com/products/LightBars/15ultra.asp This light bar has 3 led’s that light up for tail lights and then the whole bar lights for the brake. The folks I ride with say it really lights up the rear end. I’ve never seen the clear one up close but either should work fine. You’ll also need some bolts to put it on with. I believe I used #8’s. (it could be #6’s though) These are socket head bolts and should be stainless steel and 1 ½ inches long. I put 2 inch in mine because they were out of the 1 ½ . Also get some SS lock nuts so you don’t have to worry about them getting loose over time. You will also need some 1 inch spacers. I got all my parts at the local Lowe’s. You will need to remove the push pins that hold the rubber part that covers the helmet holder mounts. You can simply pull those out with a pair of needle nose pliers. You’ll need to peel back the rubber from the inside to get the lock nuts on. As you can see the bolts go through the rubber. Be careful not to over tighten the bolts. You only need to snug them up. After you get them snug you can push the rubber back into place where the nuts are. Now you are finished with the mounting and ready for wiring. I didn’t take pictures when I put this on so I don’t have pics of the way I wired it up. I took the wires under the seat on mine and connected them there. I hope this helps. Parts list= 2-SS locknuts #8 2-SS socket head bolts #8x1 ½ inch long 2-SS washers for under the nut 2 spacers 1 inch long
  23. This is another opinion. From experience I can tell you that one of the things that will make your headsets buzz with the engine is a loose connection on the ground post of your battery. It wasn't loose enough to cause me any other problems but it did cause that. I tightened it up and all was well. It has always been my experience that you should try the easiest things first and not over shoot the simple stuff. Has saved me a lot of headaches. It's good advice to follow the KISS principle. Keep It Simple Stupid.
  24. I only got about 10k out of my first Brickstone tire that came on my bike. I then put on Avons and am getting 14k +. If it's worn out in 7.5k that's a little early. I'm well pleased with the Avons and won't go back.
  25. Me and several other guys are headed to the gap and skyway on Nov 10. I hope it warms up a bit before then. Will be leaving from Tuscaloosa Alabama.
