    Sad News

My prayers also are with the family, and yes, also for the teenager who made a mistake that he will have to bear for the rest of his life...
  3. Notice which one has 1 bid and which has 0 bids...
  4. Actually, the carbs ARE spoken for, Tom...
  5. Gee, we just did our final harvest of rhubarb last week and I gave it to a gal at work (a Canadian, I might add) who makes a great pie...
  6. We did the Inner Passage on Holland Cruise Lines which took us to Ketchican, Skagway, and Juneau. Fun time. but still have the main part of Alaska to see...
  7. Soooo, ahhh, did she read it yet??
  8. Charlie, go back in 6 months and see the diference... Although I will agree that Turtle wax is a good product and there is a fresh can in my garage along with some expensive waxes!
  9. This area is one of Western New York's famous Wine regions, along the shores of Lake Erie to the south. Sure smelled like grapes today!! Managed to come home with a trunk full of full wine bottles... MRAF, we turned around in Ripley but I couldn't remember where you said your place was. We turned right off or 20 at the light and went over to Rt5 and headed north again. Absolutely gorgeous day for an early fall ride. Leaves are just beginning to turn, and should be in full color for the Fall Floage ride coming up on the 13th (see the Other Events forum for details)...
  10. If you ever plan on getting as far west as Bradford, let me know, it's only about an hour away...
  11. To answer your question, Froggie, my 401K funds are widely diversified, and I monitor 5 and 10 year return figures and adjust accordingly. Diversity is the key, and don't follow trends. I'd say I've been averaging double digit percentage growth with some years just barely keeping up with inflation and a couple of years as high as 25% or more...
  12. Scott, I just acquired a complete dash, so I will see what info I can figure out for you... Of course I'll look at the service manual as well!
  13. The later '85s had the transmission 2nd gear fixed so they are safe to buy as well. The nice thing about the 85 is the larger trunk with the removable saddlebags. Of course the 86 up had bigger saddlebags, but the 1300's aren't quite as quick as the 1200's. Either way, chances are you won't find a more comfortable bike. Just make sure you get a Venture Royale and not the standard for better installed options. The floorboards tend to get pricey and are hard to find stock ones for a 1st gen for the driver. The '86 up had floorboards for the passenger and can be made to work on the 83 to 85 with little work. There are aftermarket boards but they get pricey as well. Best to get one with the boards already on them, unlessyougo the route of highway boards mounted on the crash bars. It is nothing to get well over 100,000 miles on a 1st gen, so don't be too concerned with one with over 50,000 miles on it. There have been some people that have gotten over 200,000 miles on theirs. Also, you havde a lot of tech support here on this site, and very helpful people as well!
  14. Wow, radical "out of the box" thinking!! I bet it will work! Let us know how well it works out! Sorry, I threw out a broken mirror a long time ago, but I'm sure someone here has what you are looking for...
  15. Had ours for many years now...
  16. Mirrors and front turn signals, as cheap as you will let them go for...
  17. Hmmm, my guess was 7...
  18. Wow!! Great!! I'm only about 3/4 of a million short of my retirement goal with 6 years to go...
  19. My experience with Progressive is that they are the present day "Allstate from the 60's" and at best are first class scumballs!! I don't ever want to be involved in an acident with anybody insured by them again!!
  20. Second interviews are a very good sign! Hope you get a position and everything works out!!

  24. I really hate hearing of yet another biker down, but it's a little easier to take when the person who went down tells us of it. Hope everything is all right with you and that everything works out OK with the insurance. Yes, unfortunately, stuff happens...
