  1. The upper fairings will absolutely fit all the years, they are interchangeable. The headlights are different on the 1200's '83 to '85 The 1300's, like yours, is styled different, but that has no bearing on the upper fairings. The best bet for finding the handlebar remote is Ebay or a cycle salvage yard. Perhaps there might be a member that has a spare and would sell it to you. You also can put up an ad for it in the wanted section of the classifieds. The hard start issue, now is it turning over slow or spinning without starting? If it's the latter then a tune up sounds like it's in order. I would suggest that you go completely through it and put a new battery in along with atleast wires plugs and caps. Start with the basics and then you can narrow down any future problems. The 1st gen tech library is a great source for info, and never be leary of asking questions, we'll answer them as many times as it takes....welcome to the club
  2. If you could post a pic of it we could figure it out fairly quick I imagine.
  3. Dave, What do you mean you got spammed? Please PM me and let me know.
  4. Lowell, So sorry to hear of your grandson, as hard as it is to see a little one go so young, sometimes it's for the best. Your family are in our thoughts, be safe my friend.
  5. Thanks for the update Boomer...glad it all worked out for the better
  6. I can appreciate you coming on and informing us about the legality of all this. Unless I'm mistaken a patent is good for 7 years, how long has the superbrace been made, and is the unit we are buying an exact replica? Your issue would be with the mfgr of this and not directly with us. I am open for dialog and feel free to privately PM myself about this issue.
  7. Yes it does Boomer, all the G2's are the same
  8. If it looks like it has been taken care of, and the mileage is right, he'd better snatch it up at that price. The issues that may arise wont be much, I would get on that right now.
  9. Very Nice, that blue is a beautiful, wish they would have made the whole bike that color
  10. Boomer, Make sure that all your vaccume lines are in good shape on the intake manifolds. I had the same thing and it turned out to be the vaccume line that went down to the ais that I forgot to plug when I removed the AIS. Seeing your AIS is plugged now I would just install the little nipples on all the ports on the intake manifolds.
  11. Carl, Perhaps you didn't torque the rear pig correctly when you reinstalled it. I know that they can get a bit out of alignment if you dont do it right. Here's what I do when reinstalling... 1 Install pig in tube and stick driveshaft, install the nuts on the studs and just snug them down. 2 Install rear rim and tire onto pig and assemble all the brake components and install rear axle. 3 Tighten the shaft bolt (12mm) so the axle bolt can be torqued, torque the nut and then release the 12mm shaft bolt, the swing arm will spring into it's proper formed shape. 4 Loosen the 4 pig nuts that are snug and then torque them down in a criss cross fashion. Everything should be where it normally sits. This is how I have done ever single one of my Ventures and I have never had any problems. Some others may chime in and add or detract from what I have mentioned, but I have never had any problems doing it this way with over 80k worth of riding.
  12. It appears that we'll have enough to make a sizeable order Jack
  13. It's small, I have seen one but it didn't seem to fit the bike. I would look for a used Venture trunk, it would match much better. Come to think about it, Lone Eagle installed a HD trunk on the back of his RSTD and it looked real good.
  14. I second that, have had them on my last 2 RSV's and loved the sound. A nice bark when you get on it and mellow enough while cruising at speed. I dont think you'll be disappointed, and if you are, you can sell them on the site for what you have into them I'm sure.
  15. Yep...just as I thought, big ears and limited hair. I do agree with Don in that it took years off you, must seem to agree with you
  16. Jack, How many people do you have on the order so far?
  17. Here is a thread about a group buy for the fork brace http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21285 and Jacks responce of what it does "Just to make it short and sweet I gleaned this off the Super Brace site. reduces speed wobbles, fork flex, front tire wear and rain groove sensitivity while dramatically improving overall handling and front-end stability."
  18. Good on you folks Kreg, I always loved when ours were little
  19. Nice stalking Bud
  20. I like the black one, if it's not an imposition I would want a black one. If it's a PIA then I'll just go with what is easier. Thanks Jack for stepping up to the plate on this, I know I appreciate all you go through to make this happen for us
  21. Kurt, Sounds like the clutch is slipping and the mileage isn't uncommon for that to happen. I had the same thing happen on my '99 at about 30K. What I recommend is going here to PCW racing http://www.pcwracing.net/catalog.htm Get the heavy duty clutch spring kit and your problem will go away. I have done 4 of the upgrades on G2's and for the price you can't beat it. The process is less than an hour if your mechanically inclined and 2 if your not. You dont have to drain the oil out of it, just set it on the sidestand and pull the cover off the opposite side and swap it out.
  22. If I could only have 2 items to add on, well maybe 3 they would be a backrest (Diamond R or Utopia) some sore of highway pegs and additional lights in the front. $2K is a good amount to be able to put lots of goodies on the bike, like was mentioned it's all up to you.
  23. $600 is a bit high for a parts bike that has been mistreated and left in the elements. Optimumly you would want to be able to sell some plastic to recoup some of your monies. I would have to hear it run and see it roll before I would shell out that kind of money. There are deals to be found and I would either low ball it or let it pass.
  24. You know the rules...we need pics
  25. I think you would probably destroy the pipes if you actually tried to remove the baffle material out, then it would just be obnoxiously loud What we call "removing the baffles" is just removing the quarter sized baffle plates that direct the exhaust flow through the baffles. It makes it sound a bit throatier on hard accelleration, but stays reasonably quiet while cruising
