  1. Same here ticket OR lecture. Stopped a kid one night in Columbus, MS, cause he almost cleared the ground:yikes: coming up the hill on Main Street, meeting me. Must have been doing 75 in a 25, didn't have radar that night. It was 11:45 PM and he told me he was rushing to drop a buddy off and be home by Midnight. I had him sit on the hood of his car 'til 12:15 and let him go, telling him that he was now already late so no need to hurry. I BET he didn't tell his dad that it was a mean ole policeman that made him late!
  2. Now I see it is Leesburg FLORIDA. I have a daughter in Leesburg GEORGIA and was thinking about planning the trip... Oh well:bang head:

  4. Any of those ideas sound like "a plan"...
  5. Lynn, A dumba$$ question , are there grease zyrks(sp?) for any of these? Or is disassembly and assembly necessary? Walter
  6. Listing says it has been removed. Was looking out of curiosity, as I have another possible deal in the works, IF a 1999 seat will fit on a 1998. Any one know???
  7. Just a thought, but I have applied to our state Vocational Rehab. department. They have funding to buy hearing aids for working people so they can keep working. Also for the deaf ASL folks, a free video phone relay (video TDD) service. http://www.sorensonvrs.com/ http://www.sorensonvrs.com/what/index.php
  8. Yes "AND CONVICTION" must be added! Where do I send the check???
  9. If that doesn't cure it, go to your local Caterpillar dealer and buy (around $12.00) an oil sample bottle. Take a 2oz sample of your (warm) engine oil and have them check it for water and antifreeze.
  10. Along those lines I got to follow a die-hard Harley guy 28 miles along interstate 55, last Sunday night to make sure he got to a truck stop. For some reason his bike had started acting up and would only run 35mph, down hill . I think when I found him broken down he first thought I was on a Harley:). After he noticed Yamaha, I think he was just glad sombody stopped. So, Peg IMHO, stand your ground!!! Walter
  11. Sounds like he may be pulling one on you like I used to do betting friends I could start my '52 Studebaker and they couldn't. I'd show them how by pushing on the brake pedal then pushing the gear shift up into reverse. What I DIDN'T tell them is that the starter button was under the clutch.
  12. George (Sleeperhawk), I have Allstate on my cars. Ironically when I called my agent to ask about covering my "new" bike, he told me to call Geico, as Allstate could not compete. Not promoting the little green lizard, but just relaying my experience...
  13. my I hope I never have to find out about their service, but before I bought the RSTC I shopped Foremost and Geico and Geico won out. That is where the previous owner had it insured as well.
  14. Remind him of the expression; "If Mama ain't happy ain't nobody happy!!!!"
  15. Couldn't turn this thing around in a 40 acre parking lot:crying:. No rear brake:scratchchin:, but I have to admit it does SOUND good.
  16. Back in my younger days at the motorcycle/outboard shop we'd charge all the "condensors" in the parts bins using the coil tester. The boss got to where he would pull the point sets, but would absolutely NOT pull the condensors.
  17. Can we say centrifugal force. My son in law in a "brain-dead" moment armoralled the sidewalls on his Busa, being extra careful not to get close to the tread. After a ride somewhat over the interstafe speed limit he noticed the bike was not wanting to stop as it should. With the heat and speed the stuff had migrated TO the tread. I don't think he'll ever do THAT again!!!
  18. Somebody :whistling:told me that my bike will blast through 90 in 3rd and the rev limiter won't rear it's ugly head. The same person tells me that the vibration that appears at 60-65 mostally disapears around 85. Again, not that I would know first hand :whistling: Walter
  19. My , How hard do you ride it? My mileage dropped from 42 to 33, on the first leg of my day trip, today. I did however make the 130 mile trip in an hour and 45 minutes:whistling:. could that be your culprit? Walter
  20. Thanks to Ace Hardware who had the bolts, the Stealership didn't, the new Baron Highway bars are on.
  21. '08??? Is it not still in warranty???
  22. Lynn, thanks for the info. I may have been shifting too soon. Just for grins this afternoon, I ran it up against the rev limiter in 1st and 2nd. Cuts off @ 41 in 1st and 66 in 2nd. I ran out of road to go any faster, but am gonna try 3rd an 4th on I-20 this week end. We know it is limited to 112 in 5th. Normally I just get her rolling before shifting to 2nd and in a residential area she will run happily along at 35 in 5th as long as I don't add much throttle. On the highway it will accelerate smoothly from 50 to 70 in 5th. (not at WOT, though, that takes 4th) As it eases through 60-65 I start to get a vibration that sounds and feel like one cylinder takes the bulk of the work. It begins to dimish somewhat around 80. That is as fast as I have run it so far. (too many highway patrol here around the capitol city.) I'm about finished with my second tank with 1/2 a bottle of SeaFoam per tank. Can't say I can tell much difference. I don't know this bikes pedigree, so I'm gonna have a reputible independent shop balance the carbs Monday. I don't know if that will help. If autoxone has the spark plugs, I may change them. The bike starts, from cold, instantly with no choke. Even when the overnight temp got to 35F. I cannot put the Barons on this week end :depressed:as our local stealership does not stock the bottom bolts. They also cannot tell me the size/pitch/length:headache:, so I will probably pull one of the floorboard bracket bolts and match it up (grade 8) from the parts dept. where I work. Again, thanks for the info. Walter
  23. I have had to put on a jacket to ride to work every morning this week. Short sleeves going home...
  24. For a '98 RSTC, what is the firing order? Does each cylinder fire individually, or do two of them fire at the same time? When I lug this thing, It sounds to me like a 2 cylinder rather than a 4. At 65 and above it has a sound that to me sounds and feels(vibrates) like a V-twin. I've never had one of these V4s before so I don't know what to expect.:confused24::confused24:
  25. The heavy equipment manufacturer we represent has a separate warranty for batteries as well, but the machine warranty will pay labor to change a bad battery even though the customer might have to pay for the battery. I wonder if Yamaha's is that way. If so just for grins, I think I'd have made them change it.
