Filter is correct and clean. Did many airbox repairs. It had many leaks and they are all sealed. Drained carbs and got clean clear fuel from all of them. Now bike idles nice, starts well when started with choke, completely dies if you give it gas. Going to the shop on Tuesday. If it's a big deal I'm just gonna shoot and be done. It ran better than this on three carbs. I'm starting to hate this thing.

I'm gonna take the air box apart and check that out. Might as well try the easy stuff first.

This issue is new with these carbs. Ran Seafoam, new plugs. will try draining the bowls. Fuel in new filter is clear and clean. Last carbs ran good except one, not at all.

After being fed up with carb issues and running on 3 for awhile, I finally got another set of carbs from a member who was parting out and had redone carbs. I installed carbs and it was great to run on all four again. Seemed to stumble a bit at low RPM so I put the sync to it and got it all staighted out. Ran great for about 50 miles, then started running like crap. Seems to fall on it's face and die when you give it gas. Runs great at 5k-7k rpm.. The diaphrams and slides are all in great shape. Fuel filter is new, idles great. No air leaks I can find. Any ideas O' Venture guru's? A BMW 1200 LT is looking appealing right now, but I still love the 1st gen look and power (when it runs right).

Steering woble

My 86 has 12 front and 70 psi rear. No problems ever. -
Newbie (again) rider seeking ride setting advice
Sheradan replied to VentureBob's topic in Watering Hole
First, pressure should be adjusted on centerstand. I run 12 in the front and 70 in the rear of my 86. Tires are 32 front and 45 rear. I ride two up a lot and I am 6'2 and 290. I also use the increased pressure for cornering clearance. This is a setup I have used for years and I get great handling, even tire wear. My dampener setting is at 3 with two up or 2 when solo. -
I have 3- 80GB SATA drives and 1-40GB SATA drive that are in good condition, cleaned and free. Give me an address and there yours.

Need Mrk2 carbs
Sheradan replied to Sheradan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
WOW. You got 3 sets and I'm having trouble finding one. Must be a Canadian thing. See what you have and let me know. I'm just at the point I need to start over. Thanx for the help. If any body needs MK 1 carbs I have about 10 of them. Most are in parts, but your welcome to them. -
Need Mrk2 carbs
Sheradan replied to Sheradan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Still need carbs and now the Pin Wall set is gone. This experience has been beyond frustrating. Sent in a set to have redone due to bad diaphrams and leaking bowl gaskets. Now I have a miss matched set that won't run right at all. Makes me want to just scrap the bike. -
I give up on my carbs. Just can't make it run right. Pinwall has a set, but there $250 plus shipping. Does anybody have a set they know are good and want to sell?
-
I would have just done a return and repurchase. They are good on returns.

I have used Arai for 10-15 years. Great for "all day" comfort. You should put a cheap helmet on a cheap head.

Is there any other kind?

I have way over 100000 miles experience on Gen 1's with Metzlers. I was a beta tester for the ME880's way back when. They handle great wet or dry conditions. I run them through the twisties all the way to the edges and they don't slip. I get about 12000 miles on a set. They are the only ones for me on a Gen 1. BUT.......different bikes like different tires. On my Suzuki RF900R I had Dunlop D220's. On my TDM I have Michelin Active.
-
Wait a minute. Only 15 lbs in the rear shock of a gen 1? Thats way too low. Put at least 50 in it, then see how it is.
-
I know it sounds weird, but add air to rear suspension. My first gen used to do that when rear air was low.

fork bearings
Sheradan replied to emtdouggood's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The bottom bearing is press fit. It should be pressed on and off. No seal, just large cupped washer looking thing.
