If I can use it soon, I'll add all the shims out of my parts bike. Is the tool pictured with the kit or not? If not, where do I get one. Can't find the one I had.

It doesn't say what kind of suspension it has. Looking at the wheels I can see why the Bushtec pulls easier. I have had a Bushtec Turbo for 11 years. Absolutley love it. The air suspension is a real plus when its loaded.

The wife and I rode the bike to the office this morning. It was about 30 when we left home. With the riding suits it's not a problem. Just my face sheild fogging up a little.

I know on a car that is bad thing to do. Two different traction levels are dangerous.

MRK 2 Questions
Sheradan replied to Sheradan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I know the outer fork is different, I was just thinking maybe the inner fork tube was the same. -
So I've put about 2000 miles on my 86 in the last six weeks. I LIKE IT! Alot more bike than an 83. But since I've only owned 83's (5) I have a few questions. 1. RPM. I'm at 4000 at 70 mph. Is that right? Seems high 2. Gas milage I'm only getting about 32mpg. I got about 40 on the 83's 3. Are the stator and clutch the same as the 83? 4. Fork tubes. Are the 86 and 83 the same? 5. Is the exhaust the same? 6. What is the BEST clutch setup to put in an 86. I ride hard with lots of weight and trailer Thanx for your help oh great venture guru's

Modern Day 1st Gen
Sheradan replied to Sheradan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
How about power with two up? What do you like better? The reason I'm asking is there are some nice used 1200LT's out there at a good price. -
Metzeler 880 corporate irresponsibility sends me to darkside

MOST tire failures, autos included, are caused by improper inflation. Sometimes that is caused by puncture. -
Free 1983 Luggage
Sheradan replied to Sheradan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The luggage ended up in two boxes. They are small when putting stuff in them, large when stuffing them in something. They are: 1. 22x22x20 18lbs 2. 21x18x20 20.5 lbs I'm at zip 95501 USPS parcel post cost about $55 to zip 48076 If you have a fed ex or ups account and want to have them picked up, you can do that. Just let me know what you want. -
I've put over 100000 miles on metzlers. In fact, I was a beta tester way back when on the current ML2 880. I've never even had a flat with them.

Free 1983 Luggage
Sheradan replied to Sheradan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'll box it up tomorrow and let you know weight and size. So I'll have exact info tomorrow. Side covers will have to be boxed seperately. -
I'm giving away the luggage off my 83. Bags are in good shape, trunk has usual cracks but repairable. The side covers are also available, but have the tabs missing. I would like it to go to one place (the luggage) but not required. These would be good if you want to do a repaint. Pay for shipping and they are yours.

I run 48 in mine. Should be at least 40 I believe. Suggested pressure is for stock tires.

Modern Day 1st Gen
Sheradan replied to Sheradan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Saying the gen 2 is not a harley clone is just denial. They look incredibly alike. Obviously it was supposed to look like the Harley because the Harley has looked like that for 30 years. Look at the fake cooling fins on the gen 2 motor. Why do you suppose they are there? -
In the 80's we had a great choice when it came to tour bikes. Every maker had one and the powertrains were all different. Now all we have is Harleys and Harley clones. I like the 1st Gen because of the luxuries with sport-tour handling. I didn't think there was really a replacement. I stand corrected.

SO! What are the AGES of the DRIVERS of VR.Org?
Sheradan replied to Zfrebird4's topic in Watering Hole
48. Got my first Venture at age 27. -
Well 1st gen had a 10 year run. 2nd gen is on 11 year run. maybe it is time to stop a few years and come back with a new one. By the way, Yamaha has never tried for big numbers as far as the Venture is concerned. The gen one was different and inovative. The gen two is simply a version of something else.
