  1. Really starting to like the LT. Runs up to 120mph quick and easy. Doesn't have that "Hot Rod Fast" feel of the first gen though. 45-50 mpg is really cool though, and as much as I hate to admit it..............I really like the heated grips. I only need light gloves, not the fat bulky ones.
  2. Great idea. Concider it done!
  3. How many, like myself, have gone fron the 1st gen to BMW LT ?
  4. If you have a black version of the 86, I have paint available in the classifieds.
  5. If anybody wants to do a MK2 luggage conversion to a MK1, now would be the time. Shipping will be high so I can price accordingly. Every thing is there except the trunk. Sub frame, wiring, bag mounts is all there.
  6. I smoked for 22 years. Quit with help of the patch about 8 years ago. Still enjoy the occasional cigar but have NO desire for a cig. Best thing I ever did was quit. Feel sorry for those who don't. I do know that you have to WANT to quit. If you still enjoy it, I don't know if you can quit.

  8. PM me your address, I'll send you one.
  9. Are you talking about the part that goes from the amp/tuner to outside? Or the cord that connects to the headset?
  10. New stuff in classifieds also.
  11. I have the luggage available. Nice shape. No cracks. Saddlebags come with lids.
  12. I have dash panels, I'll check condition tomorrow.
  13. The 1st gen was the latest in technology. Putting a cassette deck in something that came out in 1999 is just stupid. Did they even make cassettes in 99? CD became the standard in the 80's. Yamaha took a giant leap backward with the RSV. How many of you have them and want something up to date? When Harley has better technology, then you know things have gotten out of whack. Just my humble opinion.
  14. I think the LT is what the Venture would have become if they would have stayed on track with the 1st gen idea. Sleek lines, latest in technology, great handling. And with two up (big folks) and luggage it still gets over 45mpg.
  15. It's still really beaking my heart parting out the Venture. Oh well, got to move on sometime I guess. I'm staying here though. Too much good company and information. Besides, I know there are other LT's here.
  16. I have two amp & tuner setups available. I have used both of these and know they work properly.
  17. If a MK2 will work, how about $40 shipped.
  18. I LOVE DirectTV. Lot's of HD and some exclusive sports stuff.
  19. That's an excellent idea. Especially concidering in already has a plug-in for it. Changer is out! Has another plug for the phone also.
  20. Single CD up top & 6 disc changer in bag. I might add it's a K12LT Custom. It has all the goodies.
  21. Here's the "Rest of the story". Did a 1000 mile weekend on the BMW. From Eureka Ca, to Reno NV, to Santa Rosa Ca, back to Eureka (ferndale acually). Starting out, luggage is too small. The wife and I are not little people, so with the luggage packed and stacked we are overloaded for vehicle rating. But it's the same for the Venture. On the trip from reno to Santa Rosa, the weather was in the high 90's and we were doing 80-90 mph most of the trip due to time limits. I hate to say it, but the bike performed flawlessly. Not only that we averaged 45 mpg. The power band is huge and smooth. The fuel injection is the only way to go. We made the heartbreaking decision that we are done with the Ventures. We must move on to something newer and the 2nd gen is not the type of bike I like. That said I'm going to have lots and lots of great parts available with very little miles on them. Most will be for sale, some will be donated. This really does break my heart. I've been enjoying my Ventures for 22 years and I guestimate 200k miles. Running two businesses and my community work, and CMA officer duties, I just don't have the time to work on them anymore. I still think the 1st gen is the best tour bike ever built, and this BMW is the closest thing to it in todays market.
  22. My 86 burned a valve and runs like crap. I can get 92 for $2500 with 80K miles on it, plus I have LOTS of great parts from the 86. OR, I can get a fully optioned 2001 BMW K1200LT with 39k miles and new service and tires for $7500. What do you think? Keep in mind I don't have as much time to work on them like I used to. I like the Venture looks and power. I like the BMW fuel injection and adjustable windshield. Moma like the BMW heated seats, but the lower price of the Venture. If I look at it in a 5 year term, the BMW seems the correct choice.
  23. I'll second that. And my Verizon coverage is much better than the AT&T I had for years.
  24. There is a MK2 in El Monte Ca that I am interested in. Just wondering if there is anybody down there that would have time to check it for me. It is at a business, not a residence.
