Oh okay just a gasket. That kind of makes sense it's in between the muffler housing and the collar that slips on to the header pipe, right??? Only problem the collar is no wear to be seen. It's not on the header pipe and not inside the muffler either. I've had it off a half dozen times, don't know if it was ever there. So i should be able to order a new gasket and collar, tear out the old gasket and replace it with the new parts without much extra f5y*&$()(*)&% words to go with it ? Conrad

Pulled the mufflers off my bike tonight to replace a tire. Loosened the clamp bolts, gave the left one a wiggle and came off as normal, did the same to the right started pulling on the muffler and all the guts started coming out. I've always used anti sieze on the pipe. It looks like the inside collar on the muffler is missing compared to the other one. Has anyone else have this happen. I'm taking it to the bike shop in the to see what they say. It should be warranty as it's an 08.

I don't know if Robert has to ride on a lot of chip sealed roads in his area. But I know we have our share out here. The fella that runs the local bike shop here, rides a big Kawasaki cruiser and has to ride about 40 miles each day on a really bad chip seal job. When you ride on it , it feels like you're dragging an anchor. He said he can't get 10000 km's out of a back tire.

Nice truck Gary !!! I see it's still got the starter pedal on the floor, does it still work? I learn to drive an old Fargo about the same year. Pretty hard to coordinate a 10 year old foot to pump the gas and press the starter at the same time!

Hi Shamue I never gave the clearance much thought, but the belly of the bike won't be any higher then the spare i'm thinking. Rode the bike to my folks for the wekend so I'll measure it when I get home ( four hour ride at about 40-45 F, a little cool but still awesome for the first ride of the year) .

The spare tire carrier is a bolt welded to the frame and a flat bar and nut.

Had the front trim, rear bumper, and fenders made from a piece of stainless steel I had kicking around for 10 or 11 years. My wife hates me cause I keep saying '' I can't throw that out, I'll be looking for it tomorrow!" I rest my case. Might do a color match next winter.

Trailer weighs 160 lbs. Seems to pull pretty good I only went around the block with it, still have to get it inspected so I can register it.

This is the first time trying to post pics, so here goes. I bought this trailer from a guy who builds fiberglass roadster bodies. He did a good job of the box( its the trunk of the roadster but reversed) . But the frame was a mess, so I had to redo that. I also did some rewiring, and the stainless steel fenders from some scrap I had kicking around. The box is 3' long, 2' wide, and 2' high at the back. If you can't tell by the pics you load it through the little door in the back.

Cruise On-Off button---is it necessary??
mabeline replied to krispy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I don't know how the cruise switch is wired on the RSV, but would it be possible to use an off the shelf, 3 position , spring loaded togel switch? -
My daughter and I had a competition. My best time 25.188 seconds, Kamiles is 25.110 seconds. YES!! the old bed sh$##er rules.

Stock exhaust modification
mabeline replied to daxim's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I saw a thread resently that listed the numbers of Harley RK mufflers to use 95 98 95a etc, it said not to use the 07 muffler because it had the catylitic (terrible spelling) inside one muffler. I got a set of 07 from a friend, they sound good! Am i doing any harm by using them? I can see light through the regular muffler, but not the other. So naturally there's probably more back pressure. And the cat muffler weighs almost double then the other. Can the cat muffler be modified some how to make it the same as the other? -
10 days, two bikes, one trailer, and a highway to BC
mabeline replied to pakidaho's topic in Watering Hole
If you have the time or can make time. Take Hwy 3a from Creston to the ferries and also 31a from Kaslo to New Denver. You won't be disapointed. I've heard you have some awesome roads around that Salmon area and beautiful scenery as well. I've been close to your area, but some roads don't allow semi's. I really liked Craters of the Moon. -
Very nice cabinet. I made a china cabinet for my parents 35th anniversery. Stuck my finger in router while building it:crying:. So I told them it was made with blood sweat and tears.

Started riding when I was 13, will be 50 next month. Had an 83 VR for a couple of years, bought an 86VR in 87 with 7700 kms for $7000. Sold it in 96 for $6000, bought it back in 98 for $5000. Sold it 08 and bought my 08VR. I guess I like Ventures.

Thanks hcdagen for that info. The price is a little over the top, but I can imagine it would look awesome with the full rotor covers and disks. I was looking at buying a set of rotor covers on the internet last year, but the chrome budget was full for the year. I drooled on my keyboard ever night for a week until they were gone! But you know, if a guy could find a CNC machine and a buffer?? nope no don't even go there bad bad idea !!

I don't know about anybody else, but I don't think we need a new model just improve on this one. Lose the cassette, put on fuel injection, and a few other here and theres. Harley has had the same basic model forever, with up grades from time to time, and everyone loves them. Accessory manufacturers like them because they know they won't have to retool every couple of years. Owners like them because there's so many different accessories to personalize their ride. I owned an 86 Venture for 21 years before this one and loved it. It was a little cramped for my 6'6'' frame, but not near as bad as the BMW or the Wing I tried before buying my 08 RSV . Just my two bits I'll go back to my corner now. Conrad

Does anybody have a picture of these disks? I always wondered what those holes were for. I thought it might have something to do with casting when they were made.

I order an X-large with vent on January 11. I had it sent up here to the frozen north, thru customs and our dog sled postal service. I had mine before Feb 15. Couldn't be happier with the service.
