  1. Has anyone used or know of anyone that have used the retractable motorcycle support wheels? I've got an uncle who's turning 85 this year and he sayes his Harley Dresser and his 1500 Gold Wing are getting a little heavy in the parking lot:shock3:. He doesn't want a trike or a sidecar. I don't know the pricing on these, but the video looks interesting. Mabeline http://www.trikealternative.com/
  2. Thoughs signal light covers were made by a company called Moto Mania if memory serves correct. They were around for a year or two in the late 80's or at least in this part of the country. I haven't came across another set of the turn signal tail light covers yet. Gary
  3. We're working on it Rick. Hopefully will know more in the near future. Mabeline
  4. Hey Brake Pad have you done this to yours. CAN I SEE CAN I SEE Mabeline
  5. Hey DarkArm you mentioned in the other thread about the bars hitting your leg at full lock. Is the problem solved and how about the reach now? Are the bars to close now? I've got the same problem with long legs and ape arms. Sorry if I'm stealing the thread.
  6. I can believe that it would cost in the 5k area, a friend of mine just put a turbo charger kit on his on his snow sled and it cost him 5 big ones. He installed it himself or it would cost him another 15 or 20 hrs labor. Horse power gain is 40 hp, I think he said he'd go from 135hp to 175hp. Just to fly through snow and climb mountains. Can probably answer my own question, but why change to chain drive?
  7. I was wondering, wouldn't a turbo charger or super charger give the boost in power that people are seeking? With all the great thinkers and tinkers here I'm quite sure it's been thought of. Or is that a can of worms that should not be opened?
  8. Sure gets the point across doesn't
  9. Ya sorry about that, I saw where you had it done after I had posted I'll have to see if I can find someone up here in the frozen tundra that does that.
  10. The hub cap was only $12.75 so I ain't losing much if it won't stay on. Spent my money on dumber things. I think the tabs are a little long, I might try grinding them down a bit. I was going to try the golf cart caps but read here somewhere that the hub sticks out to far.
  11. I've seen a few different ideas for hub caps on 8" wheels. Don't know if anybody has tried this. I had a front hub cap from my semi kicking around, it measures 8 3/4" same as the outside lip of 8" wheel. There's a small gap between the wheel and the cap about an 1/8" but it's really hard to pull back off. Can't give it the acid run right now( few to many icy patches).
  12. Hey Sling Where did you get your paint color matched. I've got a little trailer I'd like to paint this winter.
  13. and when you get up in the morning U.....P !!!
  14. Went for a therapy session with doctor venture today and turn over 15000 kms. Not bad for being down for a month after the wreck.
  15. Could it be the four bolts on the right side down tube ( the piece of frame that's removed to pull the engine). I was told it could cause a wallowing or weave on my 86 if they were loose.
  16. I read Tom is trying to take on bigger prey then we were, hope everything comes out alright for Tom. They make new bikes every day even though you do get attached to them somewhat. Thanks to everyone else for the advice. Conrad
  17. Thanks for the advice Rick. You're right insurance co. look after #1. I've got nothing broken, just road rash and bruises. Man that's a scary ride sliding down the highway at 60 mph!
  18. Myself and Kevin (Kevinfalk on VR) headed out on Sunday for a nice approx. 800 km ride. From Stettler down through the Kananaskis and back. About 45 mins from home a deer flew out of the ditch and hit Kevin causing him to crash. I guess I paniced and grabbed to much brake to try and avoid everything and laid mine down also. Both of us faired pretty good, Kevin ended up with a broken ankle and a really sore shoulder. His bike not so good, the only thing not damaged is his new Russel Daylong seat. Myself, I ended up with road rash on my elbows, knees and hip. Bike got chewed up on the leftside pretty bad. Thank God for leathers is all I can say, they did a stand up job keeping the asphault from eating at my skin. My question though, does anyone have any tips on dealing with insurance . I know every state and province is different but anything might help. I just always get the feeling they're going to put the boots to ya in the end. Conrad
  19. Well my parts finally showed up. Put the new spring in and gave it road test, helped 98% but if I got on the gas real hard I could feel it lerch. Pulled the clutch plates and ya they're burnt, maybe not as bad as Seakings but enough to cause a problem.Wish I would have read Seakings thread before I ordered parts. But there is a happy ending, friend of mine in town here is on vacation with his family and told me to steal his from his 07. So I get to leave on holidays tomorrow and Kevin will have a new clutch this time next week. Thanks Kevin I can't say it enough! As for slow speed manuvers I have to put into practice what has been said earlier.
  20. I guess I was bragging. I figured no use staying mad, if life gives you lemons might as well make lemonade!!
  21. Thanks for all the advice guys, I'll bleed the clutch fluid tomorrow. I'm hoping it is just the spring, and it was just dumb luck it started going bad the same time I took the course. I said in my last post that the courier company said that my parts were in Calgary, and they were going to be closed on Friday for Canada Day but will be open on saturday 8 to noon. Got up a little after 5am to do the 2 1/2 hour trip into Calgary and be kicking in the door a 8. I got there a little after 8 and guess what? Big sign on the door said THEY HAVEN'T BEEN OPEN ON SATUDAY SINCE MAY 4!!!! So after kicking stones in the parking lot for an hour, I thought what the heck I'm half way to my folks place. So I called mom and told her to put the coffee on and I got a 1000 km ride to boot. Sad part I have to go back to Calgary on monday again for my parts.
  22. Took an advanced riding course a little over a week ago. Eveything was fine on the way home from the course, but on the way to the course the second day the clutch started slipping if I got hard on the gas. I read a few of the threads on clutch problems and thought ok it's the spring, not a biggy! Ordered the spring, bolts, and gasket and told my dealer to ship it air freight as I'm leaving for holidays on July 4. Later I read some more threads ( Seaking taking the advanced course) and thought OH CRAP I hope I didn't burn the plates. So to add to my hair pulling the parts that I did order weren't showing up. My dealer tracked them down yesterday afternoon, they're in Calgary which is 2 1/2 hours from me. They're closed today for the holiday but open on Satuday morning. So I guess I'm making a trip. Tonight I shone a flashlight in the oil filler hole and the plates that I can see look a little tan colored. I really hope I didn't burn the $^&%$&** plates. Mabeline
  23. Yes you can adjust the linkage some what. I lowered mine a couple of years ago but don't remember how much. I pulled the pedal off the splines and turned it down one or two teeth, then played around with the lingage. You have to be careful how much you adjust the linkage thou because it will goof up the cruise control. It didn't apply to brake but it wouldn't allow me to set the cruise until I backed it off some again.
  24. Thanks everybody for the info. Sure had me wondering , I thought the muffler was pouched! I called the dealer later this afternoon and talked to a different person, and he said the same thing. Said he might even have one in stock. Naaaaa that never happens when you need it. Conrad
