It was I Hate Winter with a few more colorful words. Lots of Hwys closed. At 2:30 there were varying reports of a 15 to 40 car pile up on one major hwy. I think we're past the three ft mark for snow already this winter!! YA we'll send it your way, I think we have enough for a bit. LOL

That cold front you're talking about is suppose to slam through here tonight (Sunday Night) 6" to 12" of white stuff, depending where you live. And up to 50 MPH winds. Looks like Thursday we get a high of -24C and a low of -31C. I'm not permitted to say what i want to say about winter on this family channel. Except for #@&*&%#$(*(()*&&)&*^$#

Vance & Hines Monster Ovals
mabeline replied to Bert2006's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Bert If you do put them on, let us know how they sound at highway speeds. I've listened to You-tube videos and they sound like they have a nice rumble. But non of them are at Highway speeds. I cut the cone and moved the pipe over mod on my OEM mufflers. It's got a nice tone, but I'd like a deeper tone. -
I did the ignition mode that Carbon One wrote up in the Tech Library. That should cure the ignition problem burning out, with very little current running through it. RIGHT ???

Bought an 83 Venture in 85. Traded it in for an 86 Venture in 1987 with 7700 kms for $7000. There was lots of 7s that's why I remember it. Sold the 86 in 1995 ( was long haul trucking, and not using it ). Bought the SAME bike back in 1997. Kept it until 2008 when I bought my 08 RSV and sold the 86 Venture. (wasn't wore out by no means, just wanted something new) I guess I've been a Venture fan for for quite some time!!!

Absolutely Scott. I've been through Camrose a number of times, but of course didn't have your number. Got that problem fixed just put your number in my phone!!

Yamaha has some really good platforms to work with IMO. But we've beaten that horse with a stick to many times !!

I'm like the rest of you, not looking to replace the RSV. But some times something new is nice. I've got mine set up way to comfortable to send it down the road. I don't think I could do without cruise any more either. I read on the Strat forum that there's a couple of co. that are making a cruise that will fit the Liners, with some good reviews. I was thinking of buying a low mileage Liner and adding all the goodies (fairing, lowers, saddlebags, trunk, maybe dual exhaust, cruise, etc ). But if you buy all that new you're looking over $5000:mo money:. Might as well almost go buy one from factory. This would make a great winter project. Buuutt ??!!

Anybody ever given any thought when looking for another bike, at buying a Stratoliner or Roadliner? Took one for a test ride the other day, that 1900 cc twin has some real jam. I know they don't have all the bells and whistles that some of the others have. But there's a lot accessory co. that make a lot of stuff for them. The bike fits my 6' 6" frame quite well. The only problem I would have is the wide low bars cause a problem in a parking lot situation. But I think a set of risers would cure that problem. I like Gold Wings, but I don't have any leg room. I also like Harleys but i have few reasons for not buying one of them right now. Mabeline

I heard Irish Spring soap is suppose to work also. It's not as strong of a smell as moth balls. I haven't tried it yet.

Sorry to keep raining on your parade Brian, but what are you going to do about the inch you're missing on the inside??
-
Are you running a 150 or 130 on the front?? Mabeline

The price is pretty decent. Mooneyes has been around forever and I think they sell pretty good stuff, from what I've been told. Only problem, they don't sell a 15". I went with Avons this time, white wall front but black wall rear. Mabeline

If the curve of the fender is the same ( left and right, up and down ) it should bolt right on. The fender on the RSV is more straight up and down. So that being said, the Madonna Bra signal lights might be pointing down ?? I guess the best way would be to find a Strat in Regina and compare the two. Doesn't look like it's counter sunk. Mabeline

Handlebar Risers
mabeline replied to frmarksiegelhotmail.com's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I went a little different route. I didn't have any bar stock so I bought a couple of 3/4 inch sockets (the outside diameter is 1"). A couple of 3/8" carriage bolts and two nuts for support on the other end of the socket. Drilled and tapped the riser and ta da we had chrome supports for the fairing! -
I'm a high pockets also, 6' 6" and 36" inseam. I know what your saying about your knees around your ears. I've got a Russel day long as well and like it very much, even though it wasn't built for me. I bought it off my friends wrecked RSV. It appears that the cast piece that runs under the belly of the bike, that the boards are bolted to comes up at an angle. Looks like an 1 1/2" or 2" rise. Maybe a good heavy piece of flat bar would do the trick. The brake and shifter mechanisms are also mounted on the cast piece. Although they're mounted on the angle part coming up. So some sort of shim may be needed. It was just a quick look, so it may not work. But it has potenial! Maybe you can get a seat like what they're talking about in this other thread with a set of risers of course. http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=77675 I just put on a set of Barons risers. I thought they would bring the bars to close. But someone else on here that's 6" 6" said he has them and liked them, and also got rid of the pain between the shoulder blades. I also found the bars don't hit me in the leg any more like they use to, in a parking lot turn.

I put a set from my 83 on my 86. But it took a bit of fabricating. If I remember we had to make a U shaped bolt to make one side fit. They were Yamaha boards and the flat bar up front was flat. This one looks curved. I didn't look to see if the brand name was mentioned in the ad. They kinda look like Marklands ??

SCTV I think it was Canadian Show wasn't it?? Hilarious any way. Canadian Air Farce is another I like ! Mabeline

I think we should narrow it down a bit. Contestants shorter than 6' 5 1/2" tall can't play.

The snowmobile hood idea is a really good one. Old Snow Cruiser or Artic Cat hoods are huge. Especially when they're running over top of you ( don't ask me how I know). My trailer might give you a bit of an idea what it might look like, and what you'll have to do with the back end.

Is there a shim kit that I beg borrow or steal north of the 49th? I know there are a couple floating around south of the border. That may be an option if there isn't one up here. Conrad

That looks really nice !!! I also like the fishtail pipes. What brand are they and are load? You're not that far from me, only 1 or 1 1/2 hrs. -
I'll have to check out the prices, I've got a dealer about an hr from me. Was just wondering if they are a good buy with not to many problems etc etc. Mabeline
