  1. We have had a couple of those for a few years. Use it mostly on wasps. I got a couple of the early ones without the protective strings on it. They can give you a real zap.

    wolo

Hi Kevin. July is fairly busy. I get back from Nelson about the 4th then we have friends from Cairns Australia staying from the 7th to 10th then my son and his girlfriend are arriving from Whitby Ont for the last week. So far the middle of the month is clear. Wed is my day off, the boss slings beer at the legion that day. August is all clear except for the toy run at the end of the month.
  3. I knew somebody out there would have the answer. A very knowledgeable group. I did not think there would be any harm but I was curious. As for the detectors, another question. With the common radar in use (not laser) would there not be scatter like you get with a flashlight beam? In that case would it not bounce off other objects and allow you to detect it before you actually become the target? Thanks for the replies.
  4. While riding with a friend in his pickup I noticed he had a radar detector. It was plugged in but on the transmission hump and facing the passengers door. " Fat lot of good that is going to do" I thought. Then it went off and a minute later we went through a radar trap. A fluke I figured. Then it went off again and a police cruiser passed us going the other way. Then a few minutes later it went off again and stayed on. I finally spotted a cruiser about three cars behind us. Obviously when you get zapped with the radar it bounces around inside the cab a few times. What is the cumulative amount of radar you are exposed to? Around here you can go through 3-4 traps in a day. Does anyone know of a study which takes in the total effect of multiple zappings inside the cab?

Got the wolo installed yesterday. Thanks Carbon 1 for the harness. Off for a ride now, hope I don't have to use it.
  8. When I was in London England I could not believe it. Everyone there runs and they are all on at least one cellphone. I watched people run into light posts, fall down, get up and start running all without missing a word. I watched people run into each other, fall down, get up and start running all without a word to the other person. God help us.
  9. Curves are fun, we are talking roads aren't we?, but I also like to cruise and see the scenery and perhaps stop to take a pic or two. There is no such thing as a typical biker.
  10. Congratulations Rick. Don"t forget to ask for your discount. If you speed up you may be able to catch up to me.
  11. Good post Rick. I hope they show it in the schools.
  12. Just got back from the prostate cancer ride in Victoria. Preliminary figures are $ 75,000.00 raised to fight prostate cancer. Did the poker run and pulled 4 aces and a 7. That was high hand for a 6 burner stainless steel bbq until someone showed up with a straight flush at the last moment. One unhappy thing, when we got on the ferry to go back to Saltspring one of the crew informed me that a biker had got off the ferry on their previous trip and got wiped out just outside the terminal. We had watched two ambulances and three fire trucks go by at that time. Don't have any other info. Hope it wasn't someone I know.

    surprised

Got a feeder on the other side of the house. I use 3 parts water to 1 part sugar. Don't have the knowledge or skills to do photos. It is under my bedroom window so a web cam would be easy if I knew anything about them. Interesting thing is the chime spells out "Welcome" and the nest is right on the "L".

    surprised

When I went out to get the morning paper a hummingbird buzzed me. When I looked around I found it had built a nest in some old wind chimes a few feet from our front door. Nice!

    Whoa-man

At the airport I was standing at the urinal taking care of business when two east indian women walked in and looked around. They came over and checked out what I was doing then smiled and nodded and went back out.
  17. Latest news on the Tsunami Harley is that the owner doesn't want it back. He would rather see it used as a memorial for all those who died or lost their homes and family. It is to be shipped from Victoria to the Harley Davidson museum in Milwaukee. After a year under salt water being bashed about in the ocean I doubt it could be restored. It will make a good memorial left as is.
  18. Had a neat experience myself yesterday. I was headding into town along the lake. When I rounded a corner a bald eagle was circling about 10 feet off the road. Must have been roadkill there. I slowed down and he went and sat on a branch above the road. The branch was too small to hold him and lowered him right in front of my windshield. We sat and looked at each other until he took off.
  19. Yep, would love to ride Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Lobster and fiddle music! Now if we could only get rid of that wasteland in between the two coasts.
  20. My wife gets very excited at any sports event. She was watching the race on tv. Towards the end she was yelling and jumping...."Yeahhoo! ride her baby! faster! faster! Ride her hard" all the while loudly clapping her hands. The door to the deck was open and I am sure our neighbors and a few fishermen on the lake are convinced we were having great sex.

    Whoa-man

I used to work at Vancouver airport. When they first brought in the picture symbols for the bathrooms I watched a woman walk up and look at the mens then go to the one with the woman in a dress on it then go back and go in the mens, she was wearing a pant suit. I watched as a guy went into the womens and waited for him to come running out. He did not come out, instead a woman came out and checked the symbol on the door then came over and told me there was a man in the womens bathroom. She informed me that he had not even shut the stall door. I saw a man go into the womens and he did not come out. Just as a woman was going in he came out. He was a gentleman, he held the door open for her and even tipped his hat. She looked kind of confused but went in anyway.
  22. Long ago I worked at a plywood mill in Victoria. The employees parking lot was surrounded by houses but no one ever saw anything. One guy came out and could not get his car to go, they had taken the rear axle. They stole the carburetter off my car but were kind enough to put on their old one so I could make it home. One guy lost a transmission.
  23. I retired ten years ago. I went from 8 hr days, ten on and five off to ten hour days and no days off.
  24. All I have is an answering machine. I let all calls go to the machine. The message on the machine is " You have reached the number you have dialed. If you are begging, borrowing or selling hang up now. Otherwise leave a message, I might even get back to you." It cuts out a lot of B.S.
