Got my Merc for sale. Got an e-mail offering more than I was asking (red flag). He insisted on using pay pal (red flag). He claimed his shipping company would pick it up.( red flag). When I refused he phoned me. He had got the info off Used Victoria. He had an unusual accent ( not British) but when I asked where he was calling from he told me England.(red flag). I got as much of his info as I could then turned it over to spoof@paypal.com. They said they would go after him.

Yeah, I am getting kind of restless.

There was an article in the local paper last year about kids who went to school during the week then got dressed in rags to go panhandle on the weekend. Recently one guy admitted it was a poor day if he did not take in at least $200.00

Just today. Lay in bed and watched the sleet blowing sideways. Got up at the crack of noon (us retired guys can do that). Sat on the sundeck in my shirtsleeves and watched the swans swimming on the lake. Ran inside when the snow started. Drove into the Legion ( about two miles) sat out on the deck in the sun. ran inside when the snow started. Went home, sat out in the sun until the wind started blowing the hail sideways. Just another west coast spring day.

What to do.....#1 throw away the alarm clock. Get up when you want to, unless the boss you are married to has other ideas. #2 Only take the phone calls you want to take. #3 Do whatever interests you. You will find a lot of things that are interesting now that you have the time. #4 The people of my parents generation allowed their work to define who they were. When they retired they quit existing and died. Realize your work does not define you and get busy with all those things you always wanted to do. #5 At the end of your life be able to say "I am glad I did" rather than "I wish I had".

Radar Detector - Best Choice?
Sailor replied to alvald83's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have a passport which picks up all types of radar from both the front and back. I know that there is radar scatter and if the cop clocks someone ahead of me that scatter will show up on my detector. Radar will also bounce off objects on a corner and I can detect radar before I go around that corner. I have it in my truck and one time I took it off the dash and put it on the floor. It was aimed at the passenger door and it still picked up radar. -
Condolences to all. When my mom passed she stipulated she be cremated and her ashes be scattered in the waters of the gulf islands. When Janets mom passed she stipulated the same thing. I want the same for myself.

Got someone you really hate? Send their information to these phonies.

Interested but it takes half a day just to get off the island and another half day to get back. Would be more interested if it were more than just two days.

I was instrumental in catching two felons after a home invasion. I had to go to court to testify. I did not mind that but I had to give my full name and home address in front of two repeat offenders who lived an hour away. They were pissed off to begin with because I had bluffed them. I did not like telling them where I lived.

According to news reports in the local (Victoria B.C.) papers the two Canadians who were found murdered on the beach in Mexico were known to be involved in the drug trade and were found in a cartel dumping area. The woman who was beaten was walking (sleepwalking?) about the hotel at 3:00 am naked. When she got on the elevator she scared a Mexican man who was not supposed to be in the hotel. He had been visiting a friend there. He beat her while trying to make his escape. The guy from Saltspring who was murdered interrupted a robbery and struggled with the robber who shot him. Bottom line is "Don't go to dangerous areas and don't do foolish things."

I never buy a new car. I always get one that is a year or two old and save thousands. The truck, car and bike I have now should last a long time.

I just do not go to fast food joints. So far as I am concerned using the word "food" is false advertising. That being said I have been in line behind some jerk who is reaming out a clerk for something over which they have no control and which is not their fault. And by "reaming" I mean far worse than anything Rick may have done. It seems to give these jerks a sense of power and when they turn to grin at the people behind them I will inform them that they are the biggest $%#^&*^%$ and &^%$*& that I have ever seen. They leave, the rest of the people grin and I get great service.

I would prefer it as a naked or semi naked bike to show off the engine.

I like it but I would leave the headlights alone due to visibility. Being an old hot rodder I kind of think I would go with dark orange flames where you have the black. Stock or mod it looks good.

I find the easiest thing is to go to an ATM and get the local currency. Keeps things simple and you get the best rate. I did notice they were still accepting U.S. currency although some wanted Canadian instead. As I said these changes are possible in the future. Come up to Canada. We will take all the U.S. cash you will give us, and we even speak the same language, depending on where in the U.S. you are from. lol. Leave the guns at home, we don't want them and you won't need them.

Thanks Rick. We had a great time. Nice people, good food, only problem is I kept running into people from Saltspring Island down there. Three weeks with no phone, no computer, no tv, even Janet began to relax. It was great.

Just got back from Mexico. Before I left I posted info about a flyer I got with my airline ticket about not taking U.S. cash to Mexico. I now have more information. Please do not shoot the messenger. I am just passing on the info I was given. When we arrived at the hotel they informed us that the Mexican government is very concerned about the amount of U.S. cash in Mexico. Between tourism and drugs it has affected the value of the Peso. The Mexican government is PROPOSING to order banks not to accept American cash. This will not affect credit or debit cards but businesses will no longer take U.S. cash. This will do two things...1. strengthen the Peso and 2. All those drug lords with untold millions in American cash will be stuck with worthless paper. Another thing they PROPOSE to do is tighten up their border to cut down on all the guns being smuggled into Mexico from the U.S. I do not know if they will actually do these things. While we were there the business owners told us that tourism has changed a lot there. Only 3% of the tourists are now from the U.S. while 46% are from Canada with the rest being from Europe. They will still accept Canadian cash.

I had a Madura...Suzukis answer to the V Max. Incredibly fast and what made it even scarier is that it had a 1/4 turn throttle, twice as fast response as the standard 1/2 turn throttle. I loved it. Very comfortable and could blow off most sports bikes. Topped out at 150 MPH. The power is addictive.

It's Saltspring. We don't get those evil temperatures you mainlanders get. Also we face south west. Max sun. Come on over and sit for a while.

Three fifteen pm and 70 F on the sundeck. Not a cloud in the sky. Forecast is same for tomorrow.

Rick....you are just having too much fun! We leave for Bucerias on Thursday. Send me $10.00 in small unmarked bills and I won't do my rain dance just before we leave.

When I realized it is legal for me to bed that young stuff, really young, like 55,50 or even 45 years old. When I discovered my oldest son is in his mid 40's and my youngest one is also in his 40's.
