Last year I had a pair of 7 spoke wheels powdered. $120 for both. Single color. Strip EVERYTHING off. Bearings, seals, weights, valve stems, etc. If you can get them blasted first, it brings cost down a little. Today there are virtually endless colors and combinations available. Even candies and pearls and textures. Powder is a LOT better than just paint. Do it and you won't be sorry.

Stallion (by MotorTrike) is a good looking futuristic swoopy ride I have to agree. Thought I would like one until I had the opportunity to be around and test drive (ride) one. A motorcycle with a steering wheel? Air conditioning? C'mon. I found it awkward to get in and out of. You have to step over the side and get your foot in about a 10" wide trough. Power and handling were impressive. Ride was smooth. It drives more like a small sports car convertible than a bike or trike. If you ever get the chance, DRIVE one. This is just my worth.

Well, We ALMOST Made it Home In One Piece!

I had a experience with UH. FIGHT BACK As mentioned insurance wants to get settled cheap as possible. If they find out you can't be bullied, they will start being more reasonable. Get a shop estimate (preferably high) and shove that in their adjustors face. Good luck which ever way you go. -
Those around me call me HEMI. (And it doesn't mean hemispherical) Does that mean I qualify for the PITA club?

Looks cool but I would call it a 2 wheel cage. Where's the feeling of freedom in the wind?

Amazing Grace sung by Il Divo
Rottdoglover replied to Sleeperhawks Mechanic's topic in Watering Hole
Thank You. If the powerful voices and haunting sounds of the pipes don't touch your soul, I don't know what would. -
I ask for opinions & got a few. So here goes. Wife says she won't ride with me if I'm pulling it. Boy, pulling a trailer all the time might get old. Axle is now narrowed and under it. Fender just sitting there to see if that's what I really want to do. Tail lights & turn signals. Tails a little bigger than I'd like but gotta stay legal. Stay tuned.

Been using PP for 8+ years. Great for paying for stuff. Fast and secure. Only CAUTION is if you have money in PP account, get it in your bank. PP will refund YOUR money to some crybaby without your consent. Happened to me on a small item once. NEVER again. I also use a designated credit card only for purchases. Overall PP is a good thing but you have to watch out for scammers as mentioned in many other replies. Always remember PP will NOT ask for your information. They may send you a note to update, but physically go to their site, NO links!

What would you do different in cycle wreck?
Rottdoglover replied to dharnie's topic in Lessons Learned
Following to close to a semi on highway I saw something on the road he straddled. Had just enough time to think " I'm gonna hit it; if I turn I'm gonna lose it." Held on and hit it square. Thought grass median would be a better landing pad than concrete and headed for it. Stayed up till almost stopped but that's when the front wheel stopped rolling. Bent both rims in about 4" and blew both tires. What I now do different is think 'what if' and 'what's the best way out'. -
We lost a friend a short while back but his kids sent him off in style. He always loved (and had several) '69 Camaro's. His casket was Hugger Orange with Z 28 stripes, scoops, and trim. Cragar wheel centers on all 4 corners. Outer door handles served their purpose. He would have been proud his kids are following in his steps. Gods speed (or at least Z-28's) to him.

Thanks all. I decided your right (really I'm blaming you all for this). Purchased a coffin (empty) today to make a trailer. Will try to post pics as I go. Now, to paint trailer to match 88 Blondie, or custom paint both to match? Decisions, decisions. Will it never end?

I've come up with both halves of a wooden coffin lid. I'm thinking about building a veneered plywood box to fit, and use as a trailer. It would be about 80" long and 26" wide and 18-24" deep. Better half thinks I've gone over to the dark side. I say it's just wood. I make a large wooden cross at Christmas, but nobody thinks i'm going to crucify anyone. So, I guess my question is, would a bike pulling a homemade casket style trailer be shunned or looked upon as a 'little wierd'. Or accepted as one who marches to their own drum. At least I don't have 'little voices' telling me to this. Opinions please. Thanks

Tail of the Dragon/Vogel......Question for all
Rottdoglover replied to DragonRider's topic in Watering Hole
Poker Runs are a lot of fun. I find the ones that have more than one prize are more interesting. I have also been on a Scavenger hunt ride. Items to be collected were readily available to all along a designated route (maps provided). Digital photos were acceptable for items to big to carry. I.E. covered bridge, blue water tower, etc. Keep up the good work. -
Couldn't be a St. NO cask! But still cute

Ebay stats
Rottdoglover replied to Condor's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
On Ebay I've found a lot of seller THINK they have something (anything) rare and valuable and set the reserve way out there. Some get right down PO'ed if you make them a reasonable offer. Like Condor stated; average price. -
I am going to build my own trailer hitch. Can someone explain (or better-pictures) where to mount the hitch? Looks like the rear subframe for rear mounting point will work, but where should the front mounts be? Are the saddlebag mounting frames strong enough? Thanks

Frog Man: All that about packing bearings does not apply. 04 Chevy has sealed bearings. But it is an easy job. I just went through the EXACT same thing on same model. Mine lasted about 50k. And I never off roaded it! I did not do the good side and it has lasted to 66K. As you see, it's all in one unit. Only advise I can give is first thing, loosen driveshaft nut and without removing nut give it a good smack with a large hammer to bust splines loose. Do this while everything is still tight. Then caliper comes off, (hang caliper by something to take strain off brake hose) rotor, three bolts holding hub/bearing assembly, and that's all there is to it. Did your new hub come with the ABS sensor? If not be careful switching that little bugger. Good luck. Although I doubt you'll need it. I concour that even if it takes a little longer at home, it's worth doing. Garage charges flat rate and if the guy knows what he's doing, it's less than 1 hour actual work, but you get charged FULL time.. Almost forgot, when you get the three bolts out, that is a machine fit and you may need a little tap to loosend hub.
