I have to give Rick Butler some props here, too. His work made a huge difference to my ride and, as Ponch noted, a good method to search for a problem's solution is too do the least expensive fixes first. Rick does great work for a great price. That said, I do still have a problem with my seat cover. I believe the vinyl covered seat causes chafing after a long ride. My solution is the sheep-skin cover which I have'nt found yet. If anyone knows where to get one, help a brother out! Lol! In Rick's defense, in case anyone thinks he didn't fix my problem, I couldn't stay in the saddle long enough to feel the chafing issue before. I had ridden 300 mile days before but in great discomfort. Since the re-build, I've ridden over 500 miles in a day. I've been riding a little over a year now and I'm in my young 50's.

No, when the first gens fall on the right side, the engine guard bends in toward the engine and a flange on the guard creases the elbow pipe to the water pump. The engine guard is easy to bend back out but the elbow needs to be replaced if it goes all the way through.

I was able to go on a camel patrol in the Sahara desert with some bedouins many years ago. These aren't your Bush Gardens variety camels. They're nasty, they're mean, and they spit green! And they don't take kindly to Americans on their humps! lol

Oh, yeah... the relay for my lights is zip-tied to the bike frame, left side behind the fairing.

A relay allows a small amount of current passing through the switch to operate the relay, which passes a larger amount of current for the lights themselves. It keeps the switch from getting hot. Other than that, I'm a complete electrical idiot also!

Thanks, Rick. A friend sat on my bike today and said "Wow!" I think you'll be hearing from him soon. Most of my friends ride Harleys - there's a couple of Wing riders. I'm spreading the word!

Okay, I just got back from Dallas a while ago. What a great ride! Comfy, painless, and smooth! Rick Butler did a great job on my seat and I think it may have renewed some of his interest in the 1st Gen seats. As if I cared a lot about that... I was in hog ,er, I mean Royale heaven on the way home! I mean it - Before I was in pain before 100 miles passed. Today's ride was about 400 miles and I had no pain at all. That means a lot to me. Rick is also a wealth of knowledge on our bikes and I had a great time talking with him. Rick, I hope I didn't distract you too much. I just wish we had a chance to go for a ride together. Oh, well, there's always the International Rally! Can't wait to meet some more of you folks there. Thanks again, Rick!

Just an update, folks. I spoke with Chris at FastCycleParts.com just about 76 hours ago and my springs arrived earlier this afternoon! Now I'm a good bit closer than utadventure to Progressive, but I'm sure his will arrive soon if not already. Chris asked me to spread the word and I promised I would, so here it is! Great price, great shipping, and very easy to deal with. Thanks FastCycleParts.com! and thanks to utadventure for letting us know about this. I may even get these installed for my trip Monday to Dallas!
