    Near hit

That was one very close call. Don't forget to say your Prayers of Thanks.
  2. Just did a change oil 2 days ago on my Venture after 3K miles of travel. Instead of using Valvoline 10W40 moto, I switched to 15W40 Rotella for $10.50 a gallon. Rode in this morning to work and the bike seems to run normally with no noticeable clutch slippage. I am starting to like this oil. Ride Safe.
  3. Thanks for the heads up. I think I will just keep on riding my bike and time to time put a descent amount of Seafoam in the tank.
  4. It has been very nice over here weather wise, so I've been doing a lot more riding. This weekend is a good time to check my bolts for tightness.
  5. If you decide to get the J&S jack, you will still need the Carbon One adapter. Either way is a plus plus situation, because you will have a very stable jack that will allow you to move the bike anywhere in the garage while on jacks + if you order the Carbon 1 with legs you can have double support underneathe your bike for peace of mind and added stability.
  6. Make sure you don't have 2 antiviruse software installed in your system. As suggested, uninstall any antivirus software you have then reboot then install the latest version of Norton.
  7. I was just thinking about this, these riders almost have no time to react. It is really very sad to hear news like this one. R.I.P.
  8. Yes, I heard the news this morning as well. My Prayers to all involved in the accident.
  9. This info. is really good to know. I'm not sure if I really have to put some lubricant just on the tip of the hose and brass outer area to keep the hose from binding in the long run. If this idea is ok, I may go ahead and apply some white lithium grease or similar to it.
  10. I may have missed it somewhere, so what kind of grease did you use? HondaMoly60 is ok?
  11. Good Question. I would do the same thing, it this has not been done for a long time. If I am not mistaken, replace gear oil at least every 16,000 miles according to the manual. (Personally, my gear oil has been changed at 600 miles, 4000 miles, and then at 11500 miles.) It won't hurt to replace it with the right type of gear oil. Regards.
  12. If I recall it correctly, he got the Intense White bulb.
  13. These jacks are great and I've never had problems with it. Well made item and I highly recommend this for your Venture including Carbon One's jack adapter. As far as shipping is concerned, jacks are very heavy to begin with...it is just like shipping a good size generator/inverter, so shipping charge is premium. Caging it to save on S&H is a good option.
  14. Good tip...when you replace brake lines. Glad I saved my OEM bleeder valves. And yes to Brake Bleeders. I think they are the best bleeders you can get for your Venture and save tons of dollars down the road.
  15. I have read advertisements from them and the tread pattern seems to be ok IMO. However, I have not read any post here where someone is using a Shinko tire on a Venture. If I only had an extra rear rim, I may be tempted to give it a try for a few thousand miles.
  16. +1 to skip on emptying the tank. It will for sure save you time and aggravation. The first time I did my plugs, I just yanked that tank out of the way so I can easily blow off any dirt sitting above the jugs before pulling my wires and plugs (a reminder from forum members made me remember do this part first). 1.5 hours is really not bad for a first timer. I think I also took that long to replace mine as I was taking my time and making sure that I don't miss any step along the way. Glad to hear that everthing went well. Ride Safe.
  17. Simply order Carbon One's Jack Adapter and that is what my setup is with my J&S jack. Order the adapter with legs.
  18. I am interested on watching how this Valve Adjustmnet is done on the Venture...will keep an eye on this thread.
  19. Congrats on the ride, captainjoe. As others had mentioned, get used to the bike and treat it with respect. I am 5'5" which make me 7 inches shorter than you, but our Ventures are fun to ride and I find it easier to maneuver compared to my last Kawasaki bike. Once you learn the characteristics and behavior or the bike at slow speeds, you should not have any problems. Regards.
  20. I recommend a Blackberry and get one of those metal sleeves that will protect the phone from any abuse. I know how it is when it comes to teenager abuse. My 17 year old daughter did not treat her Samsung touch phone the first time and it stopped responding to her...this was sent out for warranty repair and it took 3 weeks to get it back. For the meantime, she was stuck with an older legacy phone as a backup. When she got the phone back, I taught her to treat the phone with TLC or there will be no phone at all. I also showed her how I treat my Venture with TLC...this way personal possessions may last a lifetime.

    WELL ???

Your choice is not bad at all. I may go with a big truck just like that Ford to haul all of my toys and a whole lot more.
  22. Nice, KiteSquid. I've seen several H4s available on eBay. Thanks for the info.
  23. How long have you had the bulb in the bike? Just wondering, because motorcycles have lots of vibration and want to know if these PIAA lamps will last long enough on a bike.
  24. Good question, Larry. I am also curious about that. If I ever replace my passing lamps with Amber, I will have to upgrade to the Intense White Bulb (PIAA) headlamp. I think Amber lights will go well during the summer months, where there is more daylight hours. It may be a good idea to switch back to all clear lights during the winter months (I intend to keep my clear lamps for a seasonal swap).
  25. Love PIAA bulbs as well as LEDs. I recently converted all my cager lights to LEDs and my Venture is getting there slowly but surely. The 4100K lumen is good. Also...it is good to know at this point that my bike takes an H4 bulb. This one is going to my wish list. Thanks.
