  1. Man, Carl, I would have loved to see that! Y'all with 15 different helmets on your heads at once! That must have been a very tall stack....or did you just keep putting on bigger and bigger and bigger helmets?
  2. Hey, Don, when it dries out you need to call your brother and ask him to bring some beer over, so that you'll have something to drink http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_4_16.gif while you watch him fix the ruts in the yard!
  3. I have been trying for 4 years to get an EIII for the front of the Road Sofa but keep getting told it's backordered. That's probably 5 or 6 sets of tires. I've been using the 404 or 402, whichever is not the Hardly tire, on the front. Hey, $70 tire and I get over 12k miles from them.
  4. I have to agree with a lot of what you have to say, Kit. A safety talk ahead of the ride, breaking big rides into smaller groups and gassing up ahead of time. But, to play the devil's advocate, I have to say something about Interstate riding. First of all, I HATE the super slab and only use it to get from point A to point B and generally I want to do that as quickly as possible. I don't think there is that much difference if you crash at 70mph or 85mph, either way you're screwed. As far as having time to react and stop is more a point of watching far enough down the road to foresee problems. That is not to say something can't "pop up" but that usually doesn't happen. In the traffic in Atlanta, if you aren't going 75 to 80 you will be getting steadily passed. I, for one, prefer to move thru' other driver's blind spots, rather than trust them to drive through mine, so I tend to move 5mph or so faster than the average of the traffic. This is riding alone or with 1 or 2 others, not large groups. I rode with a group once (and I gotta say it was a Wing group) that was riding I285 at 60 mph in the center lane. The rest of the traffic was moving closer to 80. It scared the Bejesus out of me! We had people cutting thru' us, flying past us and we were generally a danger to ourselves and others! I didn't have cb at the time so I couldn't say anything. But my friend and I broke off from them after lunch! Now I'm not saying that a large group should move 10mph faster than the traffic but they shouldn't move 10mph slower either. If there is an HOV lane, that should be used and the speed held. If not the group should move the speed of the traffic in the lane next to the right lane so that traffic can enter and exit the highway. And you can't eliminate riders that don't have CBs! You just need to put them in the middle of the group. Love ya, man!
  5. I ride an 86 and have had that problem, it turned out to be the switch on the clutch. The lever wasn't coming out all the way. I added a spring on the clutch lever to bring it out all of the way.
  6. Man, midnightrider54, I feel bad that I wasn't here for you....I wanted to be....really, I did.....but something came up....let's see, what was it.....hmmmm........Oh yeah, I WAS OUT RIDING IN THE SNOW!!!
  7. Ya missed a great ride, Lewis! The ground was never cold enough for anything to stick, even on bridges, which we saw very few of anyway. I posted the experience (with bad pictures!) in the "It's just around the corner" thread. Sorry you missed it, but as Blackjack said today "We'll do the breakfasts rain or shine or snow!"
  8. MMMMMM!!! Peeeeeeeps! I love Peeps, but I like them when they get a little stale! So I usually eat them one holiday later! Christmas Trees on Easter, Bunnies on Haloween, Ghosts at Christmas! Did I mention....MMMMMMM PEEEEEPS!
  9. Good Lookin' Truck, Beer! Ya done good, Boy!
  10. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_75.gifExcelent news, Gary! Glad you're getting back on the horse! http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_30_109.gif
  11. Looookiiiiing Gooood!
  12. Like Kbay said, Glad your ok and there's not much damage to the bike. Is there a chance that this noise isn't new but just noticed now that you're more "sensitive" due to the accident?
  13. I try to stay away from Ethanol and I've never used E85, but on the rare occasion where I have accidentally, or out of necessity, used 10% Ethanol both my mileage and power have suffered noticably. As far as what it does to the engine... I don't think that the lower percentage stuff is a problem. I believe that the cars that are being produced to use E85 are somehow different.

    New Ride

Craig, even if it is a 2nd gen! But you might want to keep the 87, just in case you ever need to get someplace fast!
  15. I don't know about a 2nd gen, but on my 86 I mounted the box for my XM in the left fairing between the H2O reservoir and the cb radio. It is about the same size as your radio.
  16. Thanks for all the words of condolence. It seems that the memorial service will be on the 25th of this month at 4pm in Roswell, Ga. As the time draws near, I will post more details for any that, like Fred, would like to join me for a ride to the service.
  17. Thanks, I needed a good laugh!!!
  18. Now that's funny! I don't care who you are!!!
  19. VWII? I've done Death Valley in a tour bus, but not in a VW! I've owned a '59 Bug, a 62 Bug and a '64 Ghia. What is a VWII?

  21. Hey, WhaDaYaHave?WhaDaYaHave?! Gotta get that annual quota of grease! Best onion rings around. Give me a call next time!
  22. Thanks Terry, but naaah, don't work too good since the crash.
  23. I dunno, but it sure seems like it should. 83 - 85 should match up.
  24. And you didn't call and ask me to meet y'all because......? I see that you are standing in front of the Tree Of Shame, if you woulda looked around on the side behind you, you would have seen my mirror and front left dash panel! We hung them with great pomp and ceremony, ok, a little pomp and no ceremony, at this years Vogel.
  25. Float away and enjoy, Buddy! Hope you feel better soon...ok, you feel good now...so, I hope you are well soon!
