  1. I did start it this morning and it was the same. It felt like it does when you shift into gear without the engine running but still no noise, I just went back out and started it and shifted into 2nd and 3rd and in the higher gears there is a rattle maybe like stripping splines. I think that in 1st my exhaust is too loud to hear it. Now I need to get it someplace I can get it up on a jack. Hopefully next weekend I can get to the pad behind the house that I bought and am remodeling. (Hence the lack of time. 8 hrs at work and 2-4 more at the house!) I went to get my old '86 Venture back but after sitting 4 years, even with a new battery, it won't start. Headlight goes out but no starter. I need to see if a critter has chewed thru a wire or something.
  2. Two weeks ago Monday I was on my way to work at 3:15 am on I75/85 when I lost my drive train. It was like I had pulled the clutch in. The strange thing is that there is no noise. If the u-joint had gone out, or the drive shaft had broken, I would expect a lot of clattering or clanking or something. Does anyone have any idea what might have happened? I haven't had time to look at it since I had it towed home.
  3. I'm in and have my site set up. Haven't seen anybody yet. Maybe it's time for a 🍻 and a nap!
  4. That's Fried Tacos at Jack In The Box! What are you planning on fixing on your bike this year? BTW: My cell # is 6 seven eight 47 two 6768.
  5. I have a walk-in site reserved Thur thru Sun. I just have a small tent if anyone needs to share. I'll be up Thurs morning. I went up on the Cherahalla yesterday for the "Breaking of the son" and need to spend a couple of days working on my new house.
  6. You can also get a tourpack (read: trunk) off of a Harley since that's what the 2nd Gen wants to be anyway!
  7. Hey Eagleeye, Get your A$$ down to Ashveville, it would be great to meet you after all these years!!
  8. I don't need no stinkin clean bike!!!
  9. Looks like I'll be there again this year. Not sure if I'll come up Wed or Thurs. I'm hoping to close on my new house Wed morning. I'll need to share a site with someone also. I just have a tent (I won't have my A/C this year, no trailer hitch!). Ashville is ALWAYS a good time and the best is staying at the campground! C y'all in a few days!
  10. You and Leslie are still in my thoughts and prayers,Jeff. And I go back to that night in your cabin at Vogel as well. There's a lot of power around here.
  11. I'm not sure when it started, but I stole myt first motorcycle at the age of about 10! It was my brothers 305 Honda dream. He wasn't home and the folks were out of town so off I went! he wasn't real haqppyt about it and when my dad found out about I wasn't real happy!! About a week later my dad told me that if I was going to ride I needed to learn a little. He took me out in a field with a mini bike and had me ride towards him, when he dropped his hand I had to lay the bike down and stay on top of it! He taught me other stuff too but that has saved my life. Have I ever mentioned that he raced Harleys in the 30s and my grandfather used to ride the Wall Of Death at county fairs in the 20s! I guess maybe I do know when it starfted after all!!!!
  12. The last time I checked, the rubber straps were still available from Yamahaha for just a few bucks. But that has been a couple of years ago. I might try to order a couple just to have on hand, but that would mean I would have to remember where I was keeping them when the time came!!
  13. You're An EXTREME Redneck When........... Your daughter says "Get off me Daddy, yur crushin my cigarettes!"
  14. Here is my buddy, Bubba! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMOvKjQOv68 And who needs a Ninja when you've got a 1st Gen?!?
  15. Just sent a PP for 2. Thanks for ALL that you do around here, Don!
  16. I have the comander2 on the rear and a D-404 on the front and am happy with it. And I use all I can get!
  17. I've done mine a number of times. Hardest part is emptying the trunk and taking it off! As I recall, you push down on the top of the desiccant can and remove a retainer. I believe there is a spring in there too. When you get the desiccant out, just put it in a bowl and put that in the microwave for 30 seconds a pop. When it all changes color (blue to pink or pink to blue I'm old and forget!) it is done.
  18. I have to agree with Eck, I think it has to be LOMRAGFA! I'm also glad that you finally got your wits back because, as far as I know, you've been missing those as long as I've known you! Glad everything seems to be ok, Buddy.
  19. Apparently you are not drinking nearly enough!
  20. I've never know you to be at a loss for hot air, Carl!
  21. You damned pacifists really piss me off!
  22. That is a great show! I did it last year, went over Thursday and stayed for the weekend. No way to do it in 8 hrs. Hell, we rushed through the museum and that took 3 hrs! Did you make it downstairs to the restoration area? That is the only time of the year that it is open to the public. I had planned to go this year, but I'm in Memphis for three weeks of FedEx training. A little too far for a day and a half.
  23. Rick, at Buckey Performance, is also very knowledgeable on Ventures and carries a lot of parts. He even found me a "bran-used" rear shock for about 80 bucks. You can give him a call and if he's not in he'll get back to you fairly quickly. He will also let you know what you need and will talk you through the process. I agree with Carl about replacing the cylinder! http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/
  24. I use mine occasionally and when I do, I use 1 reminder and one 1 technique. Reminder: I use a "Remove before Flight" flag hooked to a key that fits the ignition but won't start the bike. Technique: Put the disc lock close to the fork in the opposite direction you will move. IE: If you will pull out forward, put it close behind the fork and if you will back out, put it close in front of the fork. Either way you can only move a few inches before it will stop you instead of 7/8ths of a wheel's diameter and you probably won't drop it.
